So recent movies.
I saw The Dark Tower. I didn’t mind it. I thought it was pretty decent, actually. Maybe because I hadn’t read the books, who knows. But I and those that went with me thought it was getting a bad rap. We all liked it fine.
The Hitman’s Bodyguard. Hilarious. Lots of violence and bad language so if that’s not your thing, skip it. But Samuel and Ryan were funny as hell in it. The one weakness to me was Salma. I’ve liked her in other things but to me her character didn’t work. But otherwise quite good.
Last night we saw Wind River. It was written by the same writer who did Hell or High Water. I’ve come to the conclusion he really thinks the lives of poor people suck bad. And that’s probably true. But it’s hard to have hope in his movies of ever improving that sucky life. It was very well done but very depressing. The murder/assault scene was disturbing, though not really overly graphic. Graphic enough though. It’s a move that I think will stay with me for a while.
It comes next. I am sure none of you will be running out to see that! Ha. I don’t really find clowns that creepy. When I was a kid there was a period of time my mother collected clown related stuff. Statues of Emmett Kelley and paintings and such. She even had some ornaments. I don’t like them myself but I don’t find them really frightening. That being said the previews for It are terrifying! I can’t wait to see it, lol.
We are actually in the 70s today! Can I get a hallelujah?! HA HA
So far this week besides my guest sex chapter, I have updated What Happened to Spock and When I Fall in Love. Unlike last week I will have a flash up on Friday.
Today I had my Health Screening at work. It’s something they do every year to give you credits toward the costs of your benefits. You have to certify you don’t smoke (my company takes my word for it, M’s makes you do a swab!), get a flu shot (something I have done for years due to asthma), have your BMI done, Blood Pressure checked, and your glucose and cholesterol.
My BP was still too high even with the medicine I take at 130/84. But everything else was great. So yay! I can live for a while longer!

Hallelujah!!
Yeah I have no desire to see It. Clowns are a big no thank you. But it’s good to see that you’ve had a good run with movies. Even if the one was depressing.
I’m loving your updates. Got a little mojo back! Take your time and write what feels good 🙂

I had 2 7th graders who saw It. Sheesh. Not I.
I’m not at all afraid of clowns – never bothered me, but then I never watch horror movies and never saw them as they but they who keep rodeo performers from getting killed and make little kids happy make balloon animals. Guess, though, I won’t quit my day job to go to clown school.
Did you ever think you’d have notoriety for writing the infamous “sex chapter”? hahahahaha
Well, when you got it, flaunt it, I always say.
And if I ever get any of “it,” I shall also.
Chow (which is what I thought that word was when I was a kid – couldn’t understand why people would say something about food as their goodbye! ha)

Loved Hitman’s Bodyguard. Reynolds and Jackson have good chemistry together and loved Salma Hayek’s character LOL
I have no desire to see Wind River or It.
I’m alright with clowns, however I’ve had nightmares about It since I was a child and I have never seen the movie. I could tell you the whole plot to the movie, yet never seen the movie b/c of my nightmares. I probably saw it when I was little and it scared it and I don’t remember it except in dreams. I have sense read the book’s summary on wikipedia.
Its in the 70s here as well. Its nice 🙂
Glad everything else with your health screening was well! Hope your BP gets to a better number

I haven’t seen any movies in awhile (with one exception) . I definitely don’t go to horror movies. My oldest daughter loves them and does a lot of artwork that would classify as horror works of art. She’s in college studying painting. The only movie I’ve seen lately is – my husband and I went to see The Wrath of Khan in the theater last weekend. I loved seeing it on the big screen!
All I’ve done is work EVERY night. My last night off was August 31st and my next night off is September 23rd! Yesch!!
Hallelujah indeed! I detest hot weather!
So happy to see your updates. I’ve fallen behind reading and commenting on them though… see comment above re endless work schedule! Lol!
Happy to hear about your good health screening. I had a clean bill of health in my last check-up. Just need to lose weight . And my “Bad” cholesterol has come down to within normal this last time. Probably because I rarely eat meat as now my three children are vegetarians and my oldest one (the artist) is vegan. It’s too much effort to cook two different meals… so my husband and I are frequently eating vegetarian too!
My break is over! ❤
