Ramblings for 01/28/2019

Today I plan on working on the final part of Revealing so I have plenty of time to have it done for Friday. I’ll work on it until it is done.

After that, I should be working on Hello Darkness and Nine Lives. I’ll be honest, I want to delete Hello Darkness and forget finishing it. I am struggling against doing it, but yeah. Not really sure what and why I am writing it or doing with it and it has gone in a direction I didn’t really want to take it. So…meh. Anyway I will update what I can for sure.

Anyway, this week…is another full week at work. It’s supposed to be warmish too. Sorry all your snowy, cold people. Tuesday I am going to see Bohemian Rhapsody because I have been putting it off for weeks, ha ha, and I finally agreed to go because M wants to see it. Friday we are going out with the cousin for Mexican food, and Saturday the 2nd is my great niece’s (Paige) first birthday party. Lots of plans, lots.

So, yeah. Hopefully I can find some normalcy there. You know I don’t do well without some sense of normalcy.

So anyway, today’s picture is from an awards show on Sunday. At least I don’t have to go to those! HA

End of the Week Rambles, 12/21/2018

leaves2.jpgProof that our leaves here do change colors, contrary to popular myth. There are trees, of course, that do not change, but there are those that do. This is outside my work. In the background is a pond, or the remnants of one. They drained it a few years back which is a big shame. Ducks and geese use to hang out there and it was fun. Now only smokers hang around the area, and that is not fun.

M’s aunt’s husband died last night. 21 years they’d been together. A little more than a week ago he became very ill and they put him in the hospital for pneumonia. Lately he had been also complaining of lower back pain. While in the hospital they did a scan and discovered he had stage 4 kidney cancer. This was very rapidly moving throughout his body and the tumor and cancerous cells had attached to an artery. His aunt seemed to recall that he had a scan earlier in the year (he was a very heavy man with some other health issues over the years) and there was nothing then, indicating this had been a very aggressive cancer. Basically the doctors spoke of chemotherapy but they couldn’t really operate because of weakness and where it was, but then they changed their tune to weeks to live. He ultimately decided he wanted no treatment and to go home for his last few weeks of life with hospice care. He came home Tuesday and passed away last night. So he didn’t even last weeks. It all went very fast.

We never really got along with him, but he was a nice enough guy and he made her happy, so we are very sad for her. She lives in another state and we hate that she has to pretty much deal with this on her own. He had a son from a previous marriage who lives with them but he has developmental issues and now he is dependent on her. And I suppose in a way, she is on him, too.

Over the next few days, I intend to finish Trashing the Tree to my satisfaction. I don’t anticipate updating anything else until after Christmas, which will be My Heart’s a Virgin, when I do.

I’ll be posting here over the next few days so I won’t give you my holiday wishes until then, but I couldn’t resist the above picture.

Thank you my friends who read here.

As most of you who follow along here know, I had planned on posting for my flash fic on Friday, December 28, a little tale based on It’s a Wonderful Life.

However, as I realized increasingly that life commitments and trying to do other stuff was going to prevent me from being anywhere close to finishing the original story intended for the T’hy’la Bang, I realized, even as the “check-in email” arrived that I was going to have to either withdraw or submit something else I could write real fast or was already well into meeting the word requirements. The last T’hy’la Bang required 10,000 words, I believe, and this one only requires 2,000. Wonderful Life is over 3,000 so it suits.

The bad news is that story, originally planned, needs to be put aside for now. I will write it, but after the holidays and after some other stories get updated, etc.

My Devotion received its update today.

I have the first January flash fic planned to be Pinto-related. So that left me afloat as to what to post December 28th. I quickly wrote something up for that called “First Footing” and it’s ready to go. But it has also occurred to me that it could work for part of a fic someone requested from me, so we shall see. I might post it only here and not on AO3 until I decide its ultimate fate.

In the meantime, at home I am not really writing. I’ve been online shopping (favorite pastime), watching Christmas movies, and cuddling with M and Luna.  Yes, she has become unbearably spoiled.

This coming weekend I have a Christmas party on Sunday afternoon and everything. I think it will be fun. We shall see.

This corner is right by my work! There you go, a glimpse into weekday life for me.

Probably should have the next part of WDPLUF up where you are reading this but the truth is this week has been…challenging.

Nevertheless I got a lot done on my updates on AO3, so that’s something.

My Christmas story is up over 10,000 words now and I am up to the part where I am writing sex. Which of course means I am stalling! HA

Busy weekend of stuff to do both Saturday and Sunday. Ugh. You know how I feel about that.

Next to update when I can is My Heart’s a Virgin. Things were looking up for our boys as Spock asked Jim to stay. So that should be a good update. Also All I Ever Wanted is after that. Spock and Jim are experimenting with memories and mild melds.

Anyway, we’ll see what I can get done what with work and socializing etc.

Friday is Outlaw King (not Wednesday like I thought…oops)

We aren’t ready to do this in the very near future, but M and I have talked about getting another kitty for Luna and for us. I’ll keep you posted on this.

In the meantime, be well, my friends, and remember to be kind to yourself.

Rambles of the Week, October 9, 2018

Today I updated Hello Darkness, My Old Friend. Yesterday I updated Bitter Frost and Sunday The Mysterious One.

I’m going to work on another chapter of the Professor Spock sequel next since it needs to be finished by Halloween.

After that I may work on the Christmas story, another chapter of TMO or the next chapter of Idiots in Love. I also need to get my chapter ready to appear here on Thursday of my re-write.

Hallmark has Kirk and Spock as mirror verse itty bittys so I told M to get them for me for Christmas. We’ll see if that happens!

This is my Halloween viewing month (meaning movies that are spookyish). I’ve already watched the original The Fog (love cursed old village tales) and Practical Magic (such a cute romantic funny movie if you haven’t seen it). I have a whole bevy left to go. I plan on watching both versions of Fright Night, the original Halloween, Sleepy Hollow (movie not tv), Crimson Peak, Young Frankenstein and Zombieland (I normally don’t like zombies but Woody and the rest make this version hilarious). I think that’s it. None of them are particularly frightening. Probably the scariest is Halloween but when you’ve seen it every year for like 30 years it’s no longer surprising or scary. Now I just make fun of Linda and Annie’s horrible acting! LOL

I’m playing a new role playing game (new to me) called Grandia 2. It’s really old school RPG but I am enjoying it. I bought some new game but I had to get a refund because the graphics were too much for my laptop and it kept crashing. In other news, I bought myself a new laptop (hasn’t come yet) but that’s just a coincidence. I’m not using it for the game I couldn’t play!

Ramblings of the Week, August 06, 2018

So my time in Solvang has come and passed. It’s amazing how time flies, isn’t it?

We had a great time even though it was beastly hot. I am afraid I gained back a couple of pounds but this is certainly a lifetime journey of getting healthy again. So today is a fasting day. Coffee, tea, and broth for me.

It was nice to have a weekend by ourselves. I got a new teapot and we also got some flavored vinegars and oils. They have a year round Christmas shop there that I seldom buy anything at but this time they had a gingerbread man tree skirt. The sister has a collection of gingerbread men similar to my elves, so we texted her about it, and sure enough she wanted us to get it. All they had was one on display but they were able to sell it to us.

This coming weekend is our night at the Hollywood Bowl. We pick one every year to attend, go to a restaurant there, and then enjoy the whole outdoor arena under the stars thing. One year we saw Star Trek 2009 there with music played live to it. We are doing something similar to that this year but instead it is Empire Strikes Back from Star Wars. They also had a night with Harry Potter which I would have preferred but sometimes you have to go with what everyone else wants to see or whatever day happens to work out better for everyone. Anyway, I go for the dinner and the whole Bowl experience.

I put up The Ties That Bind on AO3 (formerly Bonding). Next up to update is Where My Demons Hide and then we will see where I go with updates after that.

We are in the middle of an excessive heat warning. I just read that the entire world is going to be faced with many more of those with global warming and climate change. I am sure you read or saw about the water crisis in Cape Town, South Africa, and fortunately they have beaten it for now. How scary. But I see Australia and Israel are facing severe droughts as well. So are we for that matter but I think it’s worse there. Humans are such wasteful creatures. So even if you aren’t facing a drought where you are, please consider some water conservation, for the planet if nothing else.

Have  a good week.

Updates and Rambles, July 26, 2018

Okay so where are we at now?

I updated Idiots in Love earlier this week. More people are on Jim’s side than I thought would be the case. Interesting.

And got up the first chapter of My Heart’s a Virgin, It’s Never Been Tried (thank you Alice Cooper). I’m going to have fun updating this one soon.

And just now I posted the 18th chapter of Anything. I loved writing this chapter. It made me get teary-eyed. This Jim, my beloved Kelvin Jim, so deserved that chapter. I hope you will agree. I figure I have about two chapters left. One where Sunny Kirk and his Spock have their reunion and then a wrap up chapter where everyone is back in their own universe and content.

I do apologize but the next part of The Love of a Lifetime will not be up tomorrow. I hope to have it up Saturday. Just got busy doing other things.

I also have not gotten to When I Loved You as I decided to update Anything instead. So hopefully early next week for that as well as Didn’t We Almost Have it All. This is the Mother 92 weekend. So I will do what I can do. Next weekend is Solvang so that’s even busier.

I’m up to about 35 pounds weight loss so go me!

That’s the update for now.

Weekly Rambles, May 30, 2018

star-trek-beyond-chris-pine

Okay, so. Had a nice weekend for Memorial Day. Too much socializing honestly. M’s friend came over on Saturday, then we went to the cousin’s on Sunday, and then the family’s on Monday. Woo. I am exhausted just thinking about all that company!

Last night we were going to go see The Book Club (aka the old lady movie) because the cousin wanted to see it but it ended up being sold out! It was in a tiny theater and was $5 Tuesday. We went to Corner Bakery instead.

No more movies until M comes back from visiting family in another state. Unfortunately the cousin expressed an interest in seeing Solo. I am so over that franchise and have heard not so great things. I am looking forward to Jurassic Park and Incredibles 2 though.

I updated You’re in My Veins this week. I also posted the first three chapters of The Sight to AO3. I will likely post the 4th chapter here before I post it there, but at the moment it is unwritten. You can expect an update of my very sad 100 words continuation story on Friday. Other than that, I just don’t know what’s going to come next.

Hard to believe it is almost June! Where does the time go?

Updating Stories, May 09, 2018

cropped-star-trek-4-kirk-and-spock11.jpg

Okay, well.

I had actually planned on having a little hiatus on here but the 100 Words Story I posted the first part of yesterday would not go away so I changed my mind. I honestly don’t think it will be as long as the last one but we shall see.

Yesterday I updated both Nine Lives and Unbonded. I actually planned on only updating Unbonded but then I managed to get Nine Lives done first. I could have waited to post Unbonded today but what the hell. It was done and those following it shouldn’t have to wait. I think I have about three chapters left on that story. Especially since after Tuesday’s update to it, they are, indeed, BONDED. LOL.

I am plugging right along. Next update will be The Experiment, but I will probably not get that up until sometime Thursday, I think. My Devotion comes after that but with Mother’s Day this weekend and family obligations that will get pushed to next week for sure. Following that is What Happened to Spock. And probably another Nine Lives Chapter. These are some intense stories so 2-3 updates a week is about all I can handle. I am trying to keep up with as much as I can though these days, so thank you for all your support and continuing to read.
