I don’t know the date anymore, but it was several years ago, that M and I returned from a trip to find that sister and Mom had purchased for us our first “Smart” TV from Walmart and left it for us in our house. It was pretty small as far as those things are concerned but we only had a small space in our IKEA purchased entertainment center.
We’ve wanted to upgrade for a number of years now but we had the same old obnoxious entertainment center. This year we decided to get a new one, entertainment center, that would accommodate a bigger Smart TV. So M finally ordered one and we’ve been procrastinating ever since. Today we packed away our DVDs/BluRays and gaming systems so that we could finally put together the new one and get the old one out the door.
It’s a big project but we want that new TV and want this old entertainment center that’s been around since the 1990s, no not kidding, gone.
It reminded me though how many movies and television shows I actually own! Probably thousands of dollars worth. When and if the dang thing is ever finished I will post a picture once we get the new television.
Anyway that’s what’s going around here on a Sunday.

I mean. It’s not a terrible way to spend a Sunday. Mostly bc you feel all great when it’s done. And having more space and having it all set up and ready for new TV when you get it? That’s an awesome feeling too! Woo woo!
I feel ya on the thousands of dollars worth. Same tbh. 🙂
Can’t wait to see pics when it’s all finally done and set up!

Wow your TV lasted a long time.
Too bad there’s not anything worth watching on TV any more!
(((((((((ducking))))))))))
Seriously, I force myself to watch superman and lois so I can discuss it with the kids and because I’ve ALWAYS loved superman and how can I pass and not watch this one?
Even though week after week, I’m constantly bombarded with “wth are you watching this? you HATE it” and I answer with “and yet everything else on is even worse.” Sigh
I look forward to pics.
When I thought I was going to die, I threw away two LARGE boxes of VHS tapes of stuff I’d recorded over like 25 years! And I didn’t feel bad. I mean, nobody else wanted it. And I knew I’d really never watch it again.
Except, if I had my Dallas tapes back, I might rewatch those. But really, I’ve seen all the Dallas episodes like a million times.
And still better than anything on now.
I’m jaded though. I hate hollywood “with a purple passion” as we used to say, since i learned what little I know. And that’s just scratching the surface.
As campy/cheesy as TOS was, as the years pass, it becomes more and more exalted over the crap they try to give us.
I choose streaming with usb cable to TV.
I hope you had fun today!

I haven’t watched regular tv in years. I have Roku and streaming services, every one of the ones you can think of I have 🙂
I dumped the VHS tapes years ago
I don’t. Hollywood and the entertainment industry has given me years of joy and entertainment of tv shows and movies. To each their own I guess, though

The other thing is this entertainment center is much smaller for storage so that’s annoying because where am I supposed to put all these DVDs? LOL
oh well, as people would say to me, “first world problem”

Nobody – NOBODY can take that away from you. Don’t let that kind of thought steal even a second of your enjoyment.
We have toilets that flush and work and there are literally MILLIONS on this planet who don’t.
There will always be “3rd world problems” and “1st world.” We have every right and even responsibility, IMO, to enjoy and be grateful for the blessings we’ve been given.
Why would any of us be alive otherwise? We’d all die today from depression from the problems all over the world.
And I mean the ones that don’t even have anything to do with money. Health or death of loved ones or…I think of couples who want children and have spent tons of $$ trying to get pregnant and month after month it just doesn’t happen. Or miscarriages.
Everyone has problems.
We each have the right and responsibility to be grateful for everything that brings us joy! Great or small.
So yeah – enjoy. And heck, you’ll find a place to store them!

off topic but – I’m blown away by the people who selfishly complain that the rich should give THEIR money to end world hunger.
They don’t even understand – there IS no end to world hunger.
I saw someone mention what’s his name and $6 billion. They think that $6 would end world hunger.
HOW? How would it?
People need food and water every day. They get hungry EVERY DAY. More food and water is needed EVERY DAY.
I know churches all over America who spend million$ every year building wells for areas of the world to have clean water.
Those selfish people act like that $6 billion would buy all the poor a pill they could take and never be hungry again.
They just don’t even think! That drives me crazy.
Farmland, crops, fruits, veggies. Those are cyclical, as is our hunger.
The US has an economy of TRILLIONS of dollars a year between all the manufacturers and companies and construction….it takes ALL of us.
Deciding to condemn a person for spending the money THEY made where the ones who DIDN’T make it want it….
It takes ALL the farmers and meat producers and everyone to feed the world. Not one person and $6 billion. Because there are almost 8 billion people on this earth, thirsty and hungry every day.
Every time they say that I’m reminded in the Bible of the woman who poured oil on Jesus’ feet before he was murdered.
All the gossipy people pecking at her that her oil could have been sold to feed the poor.
Of course, those gossipy people weren’t doing anything themselves to feed the poor but they sure were right there telling someone else how THEY should be.
Ok. Rant over.
All that to say, enjoy what you have 100%. There’s ALWAYS somebody bitching at others about what they have.
Kind of like I said about people who drive faster or slower than me.
Same for people who spend more or less than me.
There’s no shortage of complaining and jealousy on this earth.

I too never watch TV and hardly any streaming shows. I’ve fallen behind on Picard and Discovery. BBB I still have a TV in my house that’s from around 1990. It’s definitely not a fist screen. Works just fine. Will probably never die. Lol!
Good for you getting your project completed. I need to get that sort of ambition! !
