“Damn it’s c-cold. Reminds me of the time you stranded me on Delta Vega. In violation of—”
“I do apologize.” Spock paused. “Again.”
Jim gave him a mulish look. “Now see that’s when your apology seems insincere. You adding that again.”
“Captain, I suggest rather than bickering about past matters that cannot be undone, we huddle together for body heat until the Enterprise can rescue us.”
Jim bit his lip. “We can huddle in that old dilapidated building.”
Jim took a step forward and the icy ground beneath him began to crack.
Spock reached for him. “Jim!”

Oh! Bad author! That’s a cliffy with no hope of resolution!
It’s ok. I know what happens. I see it all in my brain.
So much emotion you manage to invoke. So good!

ha ha yes I cheated a bit here, but I liked the idea of the ice breaking beneath Jim. There’s a scene in Lady Hawke where the wolf falls under the ice and they have to save him. I was inspired by that!

No! Nope! This is the No cliffies zone! Yelp in my mind, I have them saved from the ice, by Spock’s strength and then getting some great just huddling time in, in the dilapidated building. Their only disappointment is when the Enterprise beams them up before they get to talk about how the huddling makes them feel… but later Jim asks Spock over to his quarters to debrief, ahem discuss their emotional reactions to the mission. ❤️💚😘🖖

Spock will definitely save Jim. And you are correct in your summation that they are not yet a couple at this point. The feelings are there though.

You are evil and cruel. As Dolly Parton said to Mr. Hart in 9 to 5 – YOU ARE ROTTEN TO THE CORE to leave us with a cliffie like this that can’t be resolved, as eveningstar said. Mean. Mean. Mean. I even found a song called rotten to the core, but I’d never heard it so….
On the other hand, I’m very relieved you didn’t post this when it was 9 below zero here, and my car tires were literally ICED INTO THE PARKING LOT. Cause that picture alone made me brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
Mean little drabble there. Mean. Seriously, if I didn’t know you loved Jim, I’d hafta question……

And last night, I got mad all over again that Chris didn’t win an Oscar for 2009 and the allergy to all Bones’ hypos scenes. He literally gave 1701% in those – full body humor and perfect acting.
There’s no justice. I’d like to slime the Academy for cheating him as best actor.

Argh, sometimes I forget these are drabbles and want to yell “why end it there?”. Alas, I’ll just play it out in my head. Because Spock is so gonna save Jim. And then they definitely need to share body heat. See? All good.
The picture is gorgeous! Snowy and cold scenery looks awesome, but I’m still glad our snow is slowly disappearing.
