Just a brief update.
I’m pretty slow right now updating and I recognize that. I hope to get the next chapter of Our So Called Life done next. I haven’t even started it.
Besides the whole business with Mom (who is fading, to be honest, and there’s all the emotion behind that, good long life or not), M’s sister is visiting with us right now until March 31st. M is having eye surgery due to Glaucoma today as a matter of fact. So yeah. $3000 eye surgery. Ugh. It always pours when it rains.
So my time writing is quite limited right now. And I want to write, I do. But the time…
The good news is I get my first dose of the vaccine next week. I cannot wait.
I now return you to your regular programming!

Ugh. It certainly does pour.
Best thoughts to M and a speedy recovery.
Love and hugs for mom and your whole family.

Boy, your family has a heavy load to carry right now. The fact you even take time to tell us is very kind. I’ll have to look up M’s surgery and see what that entails? One day in hospital or in office?
Congrats on the vaccine. If you have time some time, let us know how that goes and which you’re getting. I only want the J&J one when my day comes. But I don’t know if you even get to choose which you want.
Thanks for the personal update. Our thoughts are with you. My best to M and hope everything goes well.

M had the “lens” of the eye replaced. They take away the natural lens and replace it with an artificial one. It’s the close angle glaucoma which is the more severe kind. this is the second eye that has had this done, but the other one was like ten years ago so they’ve made some progress technologically speaking. It’s outpatient and is done, so M is now home sleeping. Got home at around 9. Had to be there at the surgeons at 6 this morning.
Right now I don’t know what vaccine. It’s either the moderna or the pfizer but I will let everyone know after i have it. it’s at a local pharmacy so I am crossing my fingers it isnt canceled or anything. Mom was supposed to get the J&J but my sister canceled it as they said there is little point to having her vaccinated, 😦
I would have preferred the one dose but those weren’t available in my local area.

Oh wow, when I read, those glaucoma surgery options sounded ….well, let’s just say I’m skittish about my eyes, as most people are, I’m sure. The lens sounds SO much better than having a stent put in or those other possibilities. Dang, that was early, but glad M is already home sleeping. Hope it’s just a perfect surgery and wildly successful and pain free.
And the J&J says it’s 100% effective.
I don’t believe that. NO vaccine or medicine is 100% effective. Well maybe smallpox. I have TWO scars from my initial smallpox vaccine at 6yo and the 2nd for a booster we were required to have the first time I went to college, a mere 12 years later when there were still some smallpox cases around in the world. Amazing it’s practically eradicated on earth now. Yet samples kept in labs for research. I’ll never get that. Why not destroy it completely? You don’t need to research something that doesn’t exist. Which means it’s there so terrorists can break in and weaponize it?????
Ok, that’s only rant 3 of the morning. I’ll stop.
I hope and pray the Corona vaccines are as effective as the smallpox vaccine proved, and it too will be eradicated. And they’ll learn enough from this one to fight any outbreaks of disease anywhere before they even spread.
Yet, they’ve worked on an HIV vaccine for 40 years and….doesn’t exist. Makes you wonder. Every possible direction.
Yeah, your mom doesn’t need a vaccine. She’s not being exposed and most likely never will be nor if she is, it evolve into the disease. I’m just so sorry for all of it.
Please please give me a fast heart attack in my sleep.
I don’t want my family to go through that. We don’t need goodbyes.
Just blink. And next realm here I come.

Oh, and I’d LOVE to hear from people who have recovered from COVID or have had the vaccines. Since flu and the common cold are also coronaviruses, does this vaccine have any effect on them? Will people now not have colds and flu? Will there be any difference at all? Will it affect HIV which is just a virus too???? I haven’t heard anything.

It does not. It’s its own variant so it wouldn’t affect other viruses. They still have no vaccine for the cold for example. And the SARS virus from a few years ago is different. Just like they have to make new flu vaccines each year, the virus always changes. Mutates to torture more human beings etc. Just like Ebola changes too as soon as they lean something.
Ah well I guess we all have to die of something. Like you I’d rather go in my sleep.

Ivan, you and M are going through a lot right now. May your mom and family have peace. Hugs to you. Hope M is on the mend soon after his surgery. There’s always something! I’m just tired of adulting!
Thanks for the update… take your time on the updates. Don’t stress about keeping to a schedule. We’ll be here, take care of yourself and your loved ones.
I’m happy for you , that you are getting the vaccine. I got my Pfizer shots end of December and mid-January at my job. Then my husband got his, through his job a month later, but he had the Moderna. I had no reactions, he had a fever and chills the evening of the second shot, but he felt it was so worth it to be protected! I feel so relieved knowing that we have gotten them. Hoping it will soon be available to all that want them.
As to choosing which vaccine to take. My advice to everyone, is take the one you’re offered no matter which one it is, rather than holding out waiting for a particular type of vaccine.
Having worked at a nursing home throughout this whole pandemic, I will be beyond thrilled to finally see the end of this. And the only way to get though this, is to have as many people as possible receiving a vaccine of some type!
Be well, my friend!
❤️💚😘🖖

Thank you. And yes I will take whatever they give me and I feel the same as your husband about it. My sister is getting hers the same day. As I said, strange as it seems, I am excited lol
M’s sister has had her first dose too and she got the Moderna where she lives

Oh, absolutely it’s not strange at ALL to be excited. This is real hope, which we haven’t had in a year! Dang right excitement everywhere.
To have a chance to return to as much of a normal pre-pandemic life, yeah!
Though I think if COVID disappeared today, it’s going to take everyone years to get over the past year and relax into normalcy. It’s taken a horrendous toll mentally and emotionally on everyone. And all those people who lost loved ones and couldn’t even be with them to comfort them in any way. No, people aren’t going to recover quickly, no matter what.

Super big socially distant virtual hugs 😊
I’m glad M’s surgery went well and he’s home resting. And yeah, pours when it rains ☹ I’m sorry your mother is fading.
Take your time with writing. You have a lot going on.
Yay for your first shot. I hope no side-effects. I think Grammy got the Moderna one. Grammy only had a little bit of aches and chills after the second one. I think my aunt was really feeling like crap after her second. It seems the second one is where they get ya with side effects.

I’m glad to hear the surgery went well and M is already resting. And a big virtual hug about your mom. ❤
I have a bunch of friends in the UK that have already gotten at least one dose, but it doesn't look like I'm getting it before June, maybe? They've put one of them on hold because of the side effects, so everything is pushed back. This sucks. So it doesn't look like I'm gonna be able to see my parents this summer either, then I haven't seen them in two years. 😦

I’m so sorry it’s going to take that long. I have heard about that vaccine issue. We don’t have that one here. I hope it’s sooner than you expect!
