Happy Labor Day – USA

“Is this chair taken?”

The hot Vulcan glanced at Jim, his expression blank, yet at the same time hostile. Not exactly a great start.

“That question makes no sense as you can clearly see the chair is there.”

“Funny.”

“I am not.”

Jim tried again. “Is this seat occupied?”

“That question is likewise illogical considering you can see that it is empty.”

Jim counted to ten, then sighed. “Okay, seriously, you’re hot but you aren’t worth all this, so I’ll find someplace else to sit. Thanks.”

He went to turn away when the Vulcan’s voice stopped him.

“If your purpose was to inquire if you may occupy the chair yourself, the answer is yes.”

Jim hesitated only a moment before sitting across from him.   “Jim Kirk.”

“I am aware. Your reputation precedes you. Spock.”

Jim smiled. “My reputation huh? Don’t believe everything you hear.”

Spock simply stared at him.

“Look. I don’t see the point of a lot of small talk, so I’ll get right to it. I’m interested in sleeping with you.”

“I have a class in ten minutes,” Spock replied.

Jim laughed. “Are you always so literal? Yeah, I bet you are. Never mind. I don’t mean this minute or in ten minutes, but soon.” He thought about it, so he said, “And when I say sleep I mean…”

“Yes,” Spock murmured. “I understand the colloquialism.” He paused. His expression never really changed from the sort of hostile blankness Jim initially received, and yet. “I am amenable.”

You are?”

Spock arched a brow. “Is that not the answer you are seeking?”

“Uh. Yeah. It is. I’m just…surprised.”

“I am certain you are used to paramours accepting your desire to sleep with them.”

Jim wasn’t sure about them, but he nodded, and licked his lips. “When?”

“I am done with classes for the day at 1800 hours. Be at my apartment at 1900 hours.” Spock rose then, quickly provided his address, and then left without another word.

Jim laughed again, shook his head, and guessed maybe this was his lucky day.

Flash Fic, September 03, 2021

“Listen.”

As a beginning it wasn’t his smoothest line.

But Spock, staring at him with those dark chocolate eyes, replied, “I’m listening.”

Jim looked out at the hallway, there was no one else there on this floor of the apartment building, but he still didn’t want to do this out here. Where Spock could slam the door in his stupid face.

“Can I come in?” He saw the hesitation there, briefly, on Spock’s face. “Please.”

Spock stepped back without a word and let Jim in. Jim was relieved when the door closed with him on the inside.

He could beat around the bush and ramble on about shit that didn’t matter. But he wasn’t going to do that. Not this time.

“I love you. I know I’ve never said it and I know I’ve done…all kinds of things that make you doubt me, make you doubt us, I get it. But I’ve never loved anyone until I met you. You make me a better person, because I want to be…for you. You inspire me. You know everything there is to know about me, even the bad things, and still…Spock. I love you. And I never want to be without you. Ever.”

He’d gotten it all out, he thought. He’d rehearsed it, but it hadn’t come out quite like he wanted it to. He hoped it would be enough anyway. That it wasn’t too late and he hadn’t screwed it all up.

“I…”

“Give me another chance.”

He stepped close to Spock, his eyes pleading.

Spock exhaled. “Very well.” He reached for Jim’s hand and held it, threading their fingers together. “Stay with me.”

Jim smiled, softly. “I’m definitely not going anywhere.”

And so Academy month begins

Recruitment

Starfleet Academy has set up some sort of recruitment center in an auditorium on campus. Spock was required to be there, though, honestly he was not very interested. But being the head of the science department and even having programmed some of the Academy’s aptitude tests, he was given no choice.

Very few stopped by his area for science study. He noticed many went to engineering or security or, of course, command. He got an occasion medical doctor. Earlier that day one such man from Georgia had stopped by to scowl at Spock. Spock scowled back.

So Spock was surprised when a young, blond human stopped in front of the material for science. He stood before the computer and swiped left and right. From where Spock stood at the side, he could see the young man was extraordinarily good looking by any standards of any humanoids. He his long lashes that fell over very blue eyes.

Spock moved away from his hidden spot and approached.

“May I help you?”

The human flashed Spock a brilliant smile, showing little rabbit teeth that Spock somehow found quite appealing.

“Hi, Jim Kirk.”

The name brought forth a memory.

“Are you related to George Kirk of the USS Kelvin.”

The smile didn’t slip. “That’s right. He was my dad. I never knew him then.”

“Then you are the child that was born during the attack?”

“Well. Not a child anymore, obviously. But yes. You’re Professor Spock, right?”

“Yes. Surely you aren’t interested in studying science.”

Jim shrugged. “You’d be surprised. I was thinking of minoring in it. Astrophysics. I’ll be concentrating on command, of course, but I want as much education as I can get. I think that will help with command.” He grinned. “Maybe I’ll take the engineering courses too.”

“That would put a lot of burden on your shoulders to complete such an expanded course of learning.”

“Yeah, sure, but I’m up for the challenge.”

Spock inclined his head. “Very well then.”

“Speaking of challenges, when you’re done here later this afternoon how’d you like to grab some vegetarian food with me. I know a great place on fifth.”

Spock knew the place on fifth and it was indeed a superior place in which to dine. Plus, he could hardly turn down an invitation from such an attractive human. At this point, Jim was not his student or even in the science department, therefore, he wasn’t violating any rules either stated or implied.

“Well?” Jim asked. “Should I come by here when this is over?”

“I would like that, yes.”

“Fantastic. See you then.”

And as Jim Kirk moved on toward engineering, Spock realized that his own mood was much improved. He picked up his communicator and texted his friend.

Sorry, Nyota. I will not be able to join you for dinner. Something came up.

Flash Fic, August 18, 2021

Jim comes out of the study hall closet first, looking carefully first to make sure no one else is around. He sees no one so slips out and away out of the classroom entirely.

Eventually he sees a group of cadets he knows walking the campus and he saddles up beside them and joins the conversation as though he’s been there the whole time.

No one calls him on it.

It isn’t until later when he’s meeting Sulu and Bones for hamburgers at Moe’s Deli that Sulu gestures to his neck.

“Someone’s marked you.”

“What?” Jim laughs. “No way.”

“Yep.” Bones hands him a mirror and Jim almost stops to ask him why he’s got a mirror, but instead he shrugs and holds it up to his neck. After a few awkward attempts to see, he finally notices the suck marks there.

“Er, okay.”

“Who are you seeing now?” Bones asks.

“No one.”

Sulu snorts. “No one gave you a hickey.”

“Those are big teeth, I might add,” Bones does, in fact, add. “As long as it’s not—”

“It isn’t.”

Sulu frowns. “Who? As long as it isn’t who?”

“Jim has a long history of picking really awful people to be his lovers.”

“Ruth wasn’t awful,” Jim protests.

“About the only one who was definitely too good for you. I’d give you a list of his bad choices, but I do have a life of my own to live.”

“Instead of nosing into other people’s, yeah.’

Bones smirks. “I do that as a side hobby.

“Keep it far to the side if you don’t mind.”

“Hmm,” Bones says, contemplatively. “Last I knew you were seeing that little Caitian named Sofie, but those don’t look like her tiny teeth.”

Jim rolls his eyes. “She’s history and I never slept with her. I was just getting her study notes.”

“Study notes.”

“I like to do well in class, you know that.”

Sulu shakes his head. “If that’s the case, you might as well move right to the instructor.’’

Jim looks away, quickly, suddenly sure he is blushing. God he has a big mouth and he usually uses it for better things that sticking his foot in it.

“Yeah.” Bones gazes him suspiciously.

“Anyway, I definitely have two or three classes to get to right now.”

“It’s seven o’clock. You aren’t signed up for night classes,” Bones points out.

Jim rises anyway. “Extra credit. Uh, logic.”

Bones’ stare is harder now. “Logic?”

“Logical philosophy.”

“Oh for Pete’s sake, you don’t mean—”

“I don’t, no,” Jim says quickly. “Mind your own business, Bones.”

“Idiot,” Bones mutters as Jim runs from their table.

He can hear Sulu.

“Who? Who is he seeing?” Jim exits and head up the street. To his, uh, logic course.

Christmas in July, Post 12

“Spock, what are you doing here?”

Spock was surprised by the sharp tone he detected in Nyota’s question. He had just sat down at a table at an outdoor café where Nyota sat with a couple of friends.

“You invited me,” he explained, thinking it was obvious.

She stared at him. “What about…Jim?”

Jim, of course, referred to Spock’s recently acquired boyfriend.  He had mentioned being invited to the café and had even asked Jim if he’d like to come.

“He declined to come. Prior to your invitation, Jim had planned to stay home today to watch holiday movies while eating eggnog ice cream and gingerbread men, and consuming peppermint mochas. When I told him about this invitation he wanted to continue his original plan.”

Now Nyota was bugging her eyes out at him.

“Oh no.” She looked at her friends and smiled. “Would you two, um, go get me a refill on my drink?”

Spock was puzzled as it appeared her drink was full but her friends hurried away so perhaps they knew better than Spock did.

“Spock, you-you don’t…cancel plans your boyfriend was looking forward to in order to go out with your friends.”

“But Jim said he did not mind.”

She laughed. “Honey, he minds.  He was planning on this. With you, right?”

“Well. He did ask me, yes, but he said—”

“Whatever he said, pay that no mind. You have a lot to learn about humans, Spock. Now you go right back to Jim and sit there watching holiday movies with him. Or you’ll definitely be sorry later.”

Spock did begin to feel a bit uneasy. Jim had smiled when he said to go ahead but it was a rather strange smile. He rose.

“And pick him up a present along the way!” Nyota called after him.

****

When Spock knocked on Jim’s door, there was no immediate answer and he became more worried. But then slowly the door opened and one blue eye peered out at him.

“Spock?”

“I have come to watch merriment with you.”

Jim opened the door fully and stared at Spock. He wore his pajamas, Spock noted, and there was a touch of red around his eyes Spock did not like.

“You said—”

“Forget what I said. I was a fool.” Spock held up the giant Santa sugar cookie he had bought at the bakery on the way there. It was covered in glittery red sanding sugar. “I have bought you a cookie. May I come in?”

Jim smiled, grabbed Spock’s hand, and pulled him inside. “Of course you can. I’m just getting started. Come on.” He kissed Spock quite thoroughly. His cheeks were faintly pink. “I’m so glad you’re here.”

“As am I, Jim.” He was led to the sofa and as they started the first movie, Spock did not let go of Jim’s hand.

“Tonight, I’m going to meet the person of my dreams,” Jim announced.

Leonard eyed him.

They were both dressed in costumes. It was Starfleet Academy’s Summer Masquerade. Leonard had chosen to wear an old man’s costume, with wrinkles and a wig of long white hair. Jim had applied his makeup.

Jim had decided to dress as a Space Pirate. He even had a patch over one eye, which made him constantly squint with the other to see better.

Idiot.

“Person?”

Jim shrugged. “Could be anyone. Male or female. I won’t know until I see them.”

Leonard snapped his fingers. “Just like that. You’ll see them and know.”

“Yep.” Jim clasped him on the shoulder and said, “Let’s go.”

The auditorium was crowded with cadets and professors alike. Made Leonard feel a bit claustrophobic honestly. Jim was looking around, rather anxiously, likely looking for this dream person.

“What if you don’t see your person of your dreams? What are you gonna do? Sulk?”

“No. But I will. I can feel it.”

“You’re psycho not psychic.”

“Ha ha. You’re so funny. I’m going over there to get a drink. Be right back, old geezer.”

Leonard snorted and began to mingle with a few others. He was greeted by quite a few and complimented on his costume. After a time he realized Jim hadn’t come back and it appeared that he’d been gone a whole hour. Leonard went looking for him.

He finally spotted Jim in a corner of the auditorium. He was leaning against a wall, talking to someone. From Leonard’s observation the guy Jim was talking to was also dressed as a space pirate.

Then as Leonard watched, Jim raised his hand to the other man’s face and then, a finger caressed a long an ear. A pointed one, Leonard realized.

He stepped over to them, figuring he’d tell Jim he’d see him later so that Jim could enjoy himself.

Jim smiled brightly, his gaze flicking to Leonard. “Hi, Bones,”

“Jim.”

The other space pirate turned to look at Leonard and he realized instantly that the guy was a Vulcan.

Jim’s one eye sparkled. “This is Spock.”

“Doctor,” the Vulcan pirate said.

“Spock,” Leonard replied. “So, uh, Jim. Is this…what we talked about?”

“Yep.” Jim had his hands on the Vulcan’s arms and Leonard noticed the Vulcan didn’t seem to mind one bit.

“Happy for you then. I’m going to go make myself scarce. See you later?”

Jim glanced at Spock’s face, who arched a brow. Jim winked and smiled, then looked back at Leonard. “Maybe not for a…day…or two.”

Leonard sighed, nodded, and moved on.

When he glanced back, the Vulcan’s head was bent close to Jim’s and Jim laughed at whatever he must have said. And then, Spock took hold of Jim’s arm and they headed for the exit. Leonard shook his head. Whatever.

“Hello,” a soft feminine voice said from behind Leonard. He turned quickly. She was dressed as an old woman, he noticed. Leonard smiled. “Hello there. I’m Leonard.”

“Sometimes I feel invisible.”

Spock looked at his companion in surprise. They were walking side by side on their way to a student meet for Starfleet Academy cadets.

“I do not understand.”

Jim Kirk, sandy hair and bright blue eyes, gave him a sideways glance. “What do you mean?”

“You are the least invisible person I know.”

Jim frowned. “What does that even mean, Spock?”

Spock shook his head. “Everyone notices you, Jim. Everywhere we go, you are the first person anyone speaks to or looks at no matter who else is with you. I do not understand how you can believe yourself to be invisible.”

“Well. I mean, I guess they see the outside of me well enough, but they never go beyond the surface to see what’s going on with me. It’s all…shallow.”

Spock considered this. “Do you feel that is true of me?”

Jim stopped then, on the edge of the campus. Rather near the exit of the Academy though not that far from the Biology Building where the student meet was.

“Clarify.” Jim had a slight smile on his face as he used Spock’s own term against him.

“I believe that I see well below your outside appearance to what makes you who you are, but I wonder what your perception is.”

Jim’s smile widened and to Spock’s pleased surprise, Jim slid his hand toward Spock’s and touched his index and middle fingers to Spock’s,

“I know you see me, Spock.” He paused. “I see you too.”

As the warmth where their fingers still touched infused Spock’s entire being, he inclined his head.

“Are you quite certain we have to attend the student meet?”

Jim grinned. “I’m quite certain we don’t.”

“Really?” Spock asked, doubtfully. “We did say we would meet up with friends.”

“They’ll understand. Besides, I want us to see each other a little closer still.”

Knowing by that slight smirk what Jim referred to, Spock allowed himself to consider the possibilities.

“We could be late.”

Jim’s eyes danced. “We could be very late.”

Cosmic Love, Part/Chapter 14

Probably not safe for work

Clothes were strewn about Jim’s dorm. They finally were lying on the little bed. Spock on Jim, kissing him breathless. Whatever experience neither of them had, Spock was a damn fine kisser.

And damn fine too. Before they’d gotten on the bed, Jim had snuck a look at Spock’s nude body. Maybe he was wrong, but Jim was pretty sure Spock was extremely well built.

Everywhere.

And perhaps that part being well built ought to scare him a bit but it didn’t.

Jim sucked in a gulpful of air when Spock paused long enough to allow it. When Spock resumed his mouth’s assault, Jim lowered his hand between their bodies and closed his fingers around Spock’s hardening shaft. Of course, Jim knew what one felt like, having one himself, but this seemed somehow different. Having his fist around someone else’s dick, and Spock’s for pity’s sake, well…Jim considered his mind blown.

Spock moaned and stopped kissing Jim long enough to say hoarsely, “I can blow something else should you desire.”

Mirth bubbled up inside him. “Oh, I desire all right. Wait, were you reading my mind?”

“I am a touch telepath,” Spock reminded him. He groaned loudly when Jim swiped his thumb over the head of Spock’s cock. “For someone who has not done that you remarkably talented.”

“Well.” And Jim was blushing. “I have one, you know, and have done some…practicing.”

Spock arched a brow. “Yes, I take your meaning. I cannot deny a bit of research myself.”

Jim grinned, pulled him down for another kiss, but this time Spock pulled away.

“If your desire is for me to work my mouth on that particular appendage of yours, we will need to cease kissing, so that I may move down there.”

This time Jim laughed out loud. “Oh, my gosh, you’re so cool. I never imagined sex would be so funny and fun at the same time.”

Spock shrugged, kissed Jim once more, and then began to crawl down Jim’s body, dislodging Jim’s fingers from his own dick as he did so.

Jim’s breaths shorted. This was real. Spock was about to—

“Ahhhhh.”

Cosmic Love, Chapter 13, May 07, 2021

When I post this all at once on AO3 (if I do so we can all collect it if we want), I’ll probably play around with chapter placement, for now, this is the chapter numbers you get.

Spock kissed Jim for a long time. Holding him close. Arms around his waist. Just kissing. He wanted no pressure on either of them. Yes, he’d brought the necessary lubricant. And yes he wished for them to do whatever they felt like doing, but…on the other hand, he didn’t want to rush Jim. Or himself. They had time.

They made it over to Jim’s single bed. Fell on to it. Lips still connected. Arms still locked around each other. A fleeting thought was that they really needed bigger beds, both of them.

During a particularly heated kiss, Spock managed to knock Jim’s glasses askew, which caused a puff of a laugh to escape from Jim’s mouth to Spock’s and somehow it was like breathing the same air.

Spock removed the glasses and put them on a little side table by Jim’s bed. Now as he drew back and looked into those sapphire eyes, Spock thought they were like the most beautiful of jewels. He felt a bit foolish thinking this but he did anyway.

Jim licked his lips and Spock watched him. He watched Jim’s every move.

“Do you want to…do what we talked about or…like the-the full thing?”

Jim’s shy question filled Spock with so much warm affection and yes, lust, that it was almost too much for a Vulcan. He put his hand on Jim’s face. Everything about him, about this human, felt perfect, felt right.

“I want…everything with you.”

“Have you-you ever—?”

“I have no more experience than you, Jim, but…I have done research and I understand the logistics.”

Jim turned a bit pink, but his smile lit up his face. “Well…as long as you understand the logistics.”

“You are laughing at me.”

Jim shook his head, but his smile widened. “No. I mean, sure, but only a little. I, uh, too did some research. And I know how it works too.”

Spock’s lips twitched. “That is good.”

Jim returned to kissing him, and all amusement fled Spock’s mind, and his thoughts turned to what would happen next.
