My Rambles

Rambles, January 16, 2020

Yesterday, I posted Chapter 11 of The Space in My Bed. I hope to have the final Chapter 12 up in the near future. I’ll be so happy to have another one finished. I am super excited by that prospect. I have new ideas to post, as you know (having done some sneak peeks) and I’d rather get a few more done before I do that.

Once that is all done I will turn my attention to an update for The Vulcan Who Fell to the Earth and Orchestral Maneuvers. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves!

Tomorrow is a flash that pretty much continues from a flash we saw at the end of December. Now when they become an ongoing story I think they lose flash status but whatever. I might write more on this storyline so stay tuned.

It’s a three day weekend for me and M as both of our companies get Monday as a holiday (MLK). I am quite happy about this. Sunday night we are going to dinner with the family, so that will be nice, but I have no other concrete plans other than to sleep! This is my last official holiday until Memorial Day (M’s company gets Good Friday off).

In other news we are supposed to get rain tonight, so wish us luck with that, as we always need rain.

In the continuing saga of what a pain cats are, we got this new bed for Luna for Christmas. See it there, all fluffy and cozy? Yeah, that’s not the one she is lying in. She’s in her old stupid bed. She is AFRAID of the new one. She sneaks up on it like it will attack her. Sigh. Cats.

Ramblings, January 14, 2020

Here are some pictures from January including a very lazy cat.

I’m behind schedule at the moment. I’ll throw something together to post as a flash for Friday but I haven’t done it yet.

Sunday I went to drop something off at the sister’s house and we got to doing some wine drinking and before I knew it I was three sheets to the wind. I didn’t barf, but Monday I woke with a bitch of a hangover. I even called out sick and pretty much spent the day vegging and watching youtube videos of which I am not proud. But it put me behind on updates.

Before I get to working on finishing The Space in My Bed, I will get that flash done.

Last week we saw Jumanji 2 and I quite liked it. Very cute and amusing. Tonight is Star Wars.

Still haven’t gotten back to normal food and financial wise after the holidays but I am working on it.

Musing Out Loud

I am thinking of working toward the end of The Space in My Bed before moving on to anything else. I note that I listed it as having only 3 more chapters left and if I can do that or even less, I will. I originally started that story (other than the first part for New Years) for someone, based on their idea, but I’m guessing they aren’t happy with it as they haven’t commented or anything on it in many chapters. Yes, I know not everyone comments. But be that as it may, I’ve had a bit of a love/hate thing going on with it anyway, so I’m going to make it my first 2020 Resolution to finish it this month.

So anyway, this doesn’t really require any comments if you don’t feel like commenting, it’s just something I had decided on.

January 02, 2020 Rambles

A picture perfect New Year’s Day in Southern California 2020

Okay so, as you know, the 31 Days of December Flashes are over. It was really fun and I am seriously considering the same for next December.

But this brings me to what’s planned for 2020. I was going to have it be a surprise, but in all honesty I am terrible with keeping surprises, so for January Friday Flashes are back. One will premiere tomorrow.

In February I will start up with Wednesdays as well as Fridays again. I have already written and scheduled a Valentine’s flash for TOS and intend to do one for AOS also.

Now that the holidays are over I hope to get back to some neglected fics. I’ve already had someone on AO3 ask me to get back to Nine Lives, so obviously that’s on my schedule. There’s also the Vulcan Who Fell to the Earth, My Heart Wants to Sigh, Orchestral Maneuvers, My Devotion, Our So-Called Life, The Space in My Bed, and on and on.

And those are the ones I’ve already got going. There are still others in my head, like a sequel to Best Friends, the continuation of Every Four Years (it IS a leap year), etc.

Should be another crazy year.

But that brings me to some other things that need addressing.

At work there were three of us doing the job I do. My good friend who I have worked with for a number of years posted for another job, a promotion, in our department, and got it. That means there are now only two of us doing the job and it’s wicked busy. I honestly don’t know if they are going to replace her, but she certainly hasn’t been yet, so work is well…difficult right now. And I did a LOT of my writing at work. That’s not going to be as possible as it used to be. Fair warning.

Up this weekend is taking down my sister’s decorations.

I have made reservations for going to Morro Bay toward the end of March for two days so wish me luck that I actually get to go this time! I made it weeknights instead so it’s a bit cheaper.

So anyway, that’s the report for the start of 2020. Thank you for your continued support, reading, and friendship.

Rambles December 17 2019

It’s been a while since we had a rambling due to the flashes taking over the blog, but I think that’s pretty cool actually.

I decided to do one today.

This past weekend we made the trip to Buena Park and Knott’s Berry Farm. Fun fact, they call it Knott’s Scary Farm for Halloween and Knott’s Merry Farm for Christmas. It’s got the Peanuts gang, Snoopy and Woodstock etc, so it’s cute. I got myself a stuffed Woodstock with a Santa hat on it because, yes, I am a dork. We also had mulled wine and cookie shots with a bit of Baileys. Anyway, it’s a fun place and we really enjoyed it. Here’s a picture of their giant tree.

December is fully scheduled for flashes except for the last Friday which will conclude At His Side for my Fall Guys. I intended for it to be done and scheduled too but the file I sent myself was corrupted.

But if you read this carefully you will know the fun did NOT stop after the 25 Days of Christmas flashes. But I wrote one from 26-31. Well minus the December 27th one I need to finish. They aren’t song-themed, but you get flashes!

In January, I will be working to update some neglected fics. The Wednesday and Friday flashes will return in February. Bright, shiny and new.

I’m pretty much done with my shopping, but have wrapped nothing. So this Saturday I hope to amend that. I am terrible at wrapping, not gonna lie, but I have fun with it. I shall drink and be merry while I am at it. Will be fun.

We are having cool weather for us. This morning at my house, with the wind chill it felt like 27. It’s even only supposed to get to about 57 on Christmas. It’s nice for us. Since we’ve had days of 80s at Christmas!

I think that’s about it for now. I am sure I will ramble some more.

Sunday Rambles, November 24, 2019

Happy Thanksgiving Week everyone. I am off this week but still busy busy! Ha

I will try and get a Walk With Me for November done in the next day or so. I have been doing a lot of walking at work so I figure you don’t really want a bunch of buildings and cars, but I’ll take a walk in my neighborhood this week while I am off.

The other day we got rain and so I took this picture.

This is at our office

Speaking of my favorite guard at the office got fired Friday afternoon and we were all very very sad. Young kid too. He made a mistake, no doubt about it, but we all thought he should have been retrained and given another chance. But that didn’t happen and it sucks bad.

I feel kind of bad that I spoiled Wednesday’s Flash Fic for this week by posting it early so I am going to try super hard to get something going for this Wednesday. Cross your fingers.

I think I only have December 19, 23, 24 and 25 left to write for December. I am hoping to get those all done and scheduled this week so if I am not around a lot or very responsive you will know why.

Lest you think I am only a boozer, I decided to do the 12 Days of Teas too. Here is a picture of them. Very nice indeed!

They are even numbered! Cool, huh?

I don’t know if anyone else does this, but I name my frozen turkey. Someone out there probably thinks that’s cruel or insane or whatever but here is Larry (yes Larry)

21 pounds

The best news is not getting up at 5 AM this week. Yay.

We are predicted to be cold and rainy on Thanksgiving if you can believe that. Two years ago, in 2017, when we went out to Ruth’s Chris is was 95! This year it’s supposed to rain and be 51! What a huge difference.

Have a great week everyone and I will be back to talk to you soon.

I’m moving right along on the flashes. I have written and scheduled all the way through December 16th now and have also written and scheduled some out of order. I’ll be working on December 17th today.

Up next for AO3 is supposed to be The Mysterious One but not sure when I’m going to get to it to be honest. I am having too much fun with the flashes and I have other life obligations as well, so, when I can, I shall. I did update My Heart Wants to Sigh, so that was a fun update.

Work promises to be a bit interfering this week since I am off next.

It was quite warm here this past weekend so we were able to sit out on the cousin’s balcony/patio for dinner on Saturday night. Very nice.

Yesterday we visited with my relatives who are out from Kansas. It was actually all right, though I had been kind of dreading it. Sometimes you dread things more out of proportion than it ends up being and that is the case with this.

That’s pretty much it for now. Not terribly exciting I am afraid!

Ramblings November 14, 2019

In the ongoing saga of our garage door…

Despite the idiotic company screwing up the measurements of our non-standard garage door and vowing it would only take another 3 weeks from that date (October 23, which was yesterday November 13), he now says they won’t receive it until November 29th. That’s well over three weeks by anyone’s math. So now we are talking December. The garage was broken into on August 23rd for anyone taking notes. I am so over garage doors and garage door companies. Never ever use this company, they suck bad. It’s discouraging to say the least.

And speaking of discouraging, I discovered fraud charges on another of my credit cards, and now am forced to go through the process of disputing the charges as fraud through forms etc. while they do an “investigation”. Lovely.

Then the brother and his wife (I do not get along with them, FYI) are here from out of state and are gracing us with their presence on Sunday evening. Yippee.

And I have dinner at the cousin’s place on Saturday. Double yippee.

In actual good news I have the entire week off of Thanksgiving. That’s definitely something to look forward to.

Now that Transfer Request is finished, I am back to working on those pesky December flashes! That’s where my energies are right now.

Rambles for November 12, 2019

In case you are wondering (did I tell you this already? Might have), I got the wine. They had it.

Yippee. Funny story. Sister had offered to split it with me so I was only going to get 6 days. I am sure I told you this part. Didn’t I? So she gave me $35 and I went through the box to take her 6 out and then…

She bought another collection from World Market that was 24 days of wine for $100 (attorney, retired but still she has more moola than I do). So she told me to keep all of mine and the money too.

As you know I started posting At His Side (Fall Guys) on A03. I will not be posting November until all the entries for November are done here.

Wednesday is Try to Remember

I am working on the conclusion of Transfer Request so that will be done this week. Yay, I’ll have another finished.

Tuesday night’s movie is the latest Terminator.
