Mid-Week Rambles, October 17, 2018

Yesterday I updated Professor Spock: An Autumn in Harmony. Only one chapter left and that will be uploaded on Halloween.

Monday I updated The Experiment.

Went to see the Neil Armstrong movie, First Man, last night. It was good but long. Kind of exhausted.

I might work on The Mysterious One next we will see.

Nothing else to report! See you around.

Rambles to End the Week, October 12, 2018

This week I posted a one-shot, The Kirk Curse. I really wanted to make it a multi-chapter fic, but alas, I did not.

I also finished Idiots in Love. Go me! I only had this one going for three months, so that’s a huge win that I was able to finish it.

I also updated An Autumn in Harmony, Hello Darkness, My Old Friend, and Bitter Frost. A very successful week.

Next week you can expect another chapter of Where Do People Like Us Float, The Experiment, The Mysterious One, and Nine Lives.

This weekend I plan to chill again. Watch some of those movies I mentioned, have some cozy time with M, do some necessary food shopping, etc.

Unfortunately it’s supposed to get windy on Monday which is never good and the temps are going up with it a little. Ugh. I’m still promised cool nights according to the weather so that’s a plus.

I got some more Christmas decorations. I ordered from Hallmark. A gift for a friend. And also, a new Heat Miser Ornament (he’s standing on a stove), a Link from Zelda ornament, the Naked Time Star Trek Ornament, the Tricorder ornament, a metal Enterprise ornament, a tiny teapot ornament for my sister-in-law, a tiny bird ornament (we get the new one every year), Aladdin’s lamp ornament, um, and I think that’t it. It should be! Damn,

Oh and I ordered a new crystal elf from Swarovski.  And a gingerbread house from there too but that’s for the sister who is paying for that.

So, yes. I do need to stop. Yes.

Rambles of the Week, October 9, 2018

Today I updated Hello Darkness, My Old Friend. Yesterday I updated Bitter Frost and Sunday The Mysterious One.

I’m going to work on another chapter of the Professor Spock sequel next since it needs to be finished by Halloween.

After that I may work on the Christmas story, another chapter of TMO or the next chapter of Idiots in Love. I also need to get my chapter ready to appear here on Thursday of my re-write.

Hallmark has Kirk and Spock as mirror verse itty bittys so I told M to get them for me for Christmas. We’ll see if that happens!

This is my Halloween viewing month (meaning movies that are spookyish). I’ve already watched the original The Fog (love cursed old village tales) and Practical Magic (such a cute romantic funny movie if you haven’t seen it). I have a whole bevy left to go. I plan on watching both versions of Fright Night, the original Halloween, Sleepy Hollow (movie not tv), Crimson Peak, Young Frankenstein and Zombieland (I normally don’t like zombies but Woody and the rest make this version hilarious). I think that’s it. None of them are particularly frightening. Probably the scariest is Halloween but when you’ve seen it every year for like 30 years it’s no longer surprising or scary. Now I just make fun of Linda and Annie’s horrible acting! LOL

I’m playing a new role playing game (new to me) called Grandia 2. It’s really old school RPG but I am enjoying it. I bought some new game but I had to get a refund because the graphics were too much for my laptop and it kept crashing. In other news, I bought myself a new laptop (hasn’t come yet) but that’s just a coincidence. I’m not using it for the game I couldn’t play!

I updated a lot this week and I feel pretty good about that. So I am giving myself permission to take it easy over the weekend. I’m still fighting a cold and I have an urge to get back into some Final Fantasy game playing. That’s what I intend to do this weekend. Not sure if I will write or not. Not saying I won’t but it’s okay with me if I do.

Next up when I do write is probably another chapter of The Mysterious One, Bitter Frost, and Hello Darkness My Old Friend.

Friday at work is my co-worker’s wedding shower. They are  having pizza so I will be avoiding that. I’ve lost close to 45 pounds now and won’t be putting that back on. Also on Thursday they announced the layoffs of 13 people in my department (Legal). Our big boss of litigation (my actual dept) is having a meeting for questions about those layoffs. It didn’t seem to have any impact on litigation but I know several of those leaving and one is a former boss of mine who was my favorite boss ever. He is about retirement age at 64ish and is an attorney so I think he will be okay but I am still sorry to see him go.

Fall weather for us has arrived. 70s during the day (sometimes high 70s) and 50s at night. I hope it stays that way (though I see something about 90 coming up on October 17th)

Ramblings of the Week, September 30, 2018

Our trip to the Queen Mary was great. Lots of fun. My cousin quite enjoyed it. Unfortunately, she had too much to drink that night though and ended up puking and having a hangover. She also lost her contact lenses. She’s a mess but we love her, LOL

Here is a picture of the Long Beach Fire Boat in the bay showing off for us while we ate dinner at Chelsea’s on the ship.

IMG_3615 Cousin went back to Maine Saturday. It’s never long enough, really. She loves it here and loves us and we her. She usually visits in Spring but this year visited us at this time.

While we were gone, M received a vegetable/fruit box and he gave a key to our neighbor to bring it in to our house for us. We had just replaced this lock August after putting up with it for far too long not working right. Somehow the neighbor bent something in the new lock when she entered our house so it would no longer work. Ugh. So yesterday I had to get another new one to replace it. Not fun.

I need to do the next chapter of Where My Demons Hide so that’s what I plan on working on next. After that probably back to my Christmas story as I am loving it so much.

I have a bit of a cold, I think. Woke up with stuffy nose, sore throat and a little headache. I downed some emergency so hopefully it won’t get too bad.

Rambles September 20, 2018

So this sticker came in something M got for his birthday. I think it looks like Lil Spock. Of course M says that us Trekkies see Spock everywhere. HA.

LilSpock

I got my updates done for When I Loved You and Didn’t We Almost Have it All. I thought Where MY Demons Hide was next but it’s actually The Ties That Bind. Huh. Wonder if I forgot to put that on my spreadsheet. Okay, I might go ahead and get that done in the next few days. I did get a lot of progress done on the Christmas story so yay!

It’s supposed to be in the low 90s the rest of this month, sigh. I was hoping it would stay in the 80s. It still stays fairly cool at night at least.

Don’t really have anything else to say. Just wanted to share the picture 🙂

As I mentioned my company is moving around this time next year. Having been in this location for quite a time and you get used to a place, don’t you? It makes me kind of sad, to be honest. We are only moving a couple blocks away but here we are the only company on our premises whereas at the new building we will be one of many companies. They are down-sizing the California presence.

Anyway, this is a panoramic view from our current location. Its a nice view and one I am used to. It’s sad that this will be gone. The new location will have views of other buildings not the sky and mountains in the distance. Sigh.

This week I guess I should be updating When I Loved You. I started it but haven’t gotten far. After that it should be Didn’t We Almost Have It All and Where My Demons Hide but honestly I have been enjoying working on my Christmas story etc. I’ll get to them though.

Was browsing the Macy’s website when low and behold the male model on there was Miles (ZQ’s boyfriend). Shaking my head.

Cousin from Maine arrives later this week. She’s really cool so we will enjoy that.

And that’s the latest.

Weekly Ramblings, September 12, 2018

We are having some really great weather right now (sorry for those in the path of Florence) but for us, it’s 80s during the day and low 60s at night, great for sleeping with windows open. Sometimes September heat can be a nightmare so this is very welcome. And it looks to stay this way for the foreseeable future. It also helps us with our electric bill as we haven’t been needing to run the AC. It’s also perfect hot tea drinking weather after the sun goes down.

Last night just the two of us went to see Peppermint. If you’ve ever seen Death Wish from the 1970s with Charles Bronson, then you know what you have, but with Jennifer Garner in the Charles Bronson role. It had your typical caricature villains doing stupid stuff for no apparent reason, like killing her family, is a huge example. Anyway, despite the less than stellar movie, it was a nice get out for us.

Later a certain someone’s mood soured (not me) when one of our kitchen drawers broke (those little plastic pieces in the back that keeps the drawer in place. You would have thought it was the end of the world as we know it. Needless to say it’s a trip to the hardware store for us tonight after work.

I feel great about finishing Anything and, though admittedly, I would have liked a greater enthusiastic response to its conclusion I acknowledge a lot can happen in the near 2 years it’s been going.

I’m back to working on the Christmas story at the moment and I reread what I had written so far and very much liked it. It’s what I feel like working on right now with all the personal angst swirling around my head.

I got some new fall decorations that arrived yesterday and they look smashing. Including some fall flavored Salt Water Taffy. I can only indulge in a piece now and then but they make me happy so there! LOL.

As you may or may not remember, last holiday season I was sick as a damn dog (I hope to avoid that this year) and we also went out for Thanksgiving to a restaurant (side note: It was 100 degrees on Thanksgiving last year, UGH). We were all disappointed in our meal (I was super sick then too). Anyway, we are back to hosting it at our place this year and knowing that I bought M an apron with an applique turkey on it that says Happy Turkey Day. HA HA. Couldn’t resist.

At the moment I am on a self-imposed tumblr avoidance. I’ve made it so far three days. Go me!

And that’s it for my rambling at the moment

About Me and Writing Going Forward

It’s me again.

At it again.

Yes, last night I thought of a new idea for an angsty Spirk story. I ran the idea by Kris, who was definitely on board with me writing it, but I can’t write it right now. I have too much going on that will prevent it, at least for a little while.

This will be totally off the timeline you see in the movies. It will be more similar to TOS but with the AOS cast, basically, and some elements of the AOS stuff. The entire prologue will take place before they are all on the Enterprise. I anticipate the prologue being kind of longish as I will have a lot to cover in it, but we will see when it sees the light of day.

The thing is we are coming up on the busiest time of year for me for personal time requests from family and friends. This is going to make my writing updates even more erratic.

For example, I have something personal I simply must attend to for September, which puts everything else on hold until it’s done. It’s just the way it has to be. I hope it won’t take me the rest of the month, but it might, consider I am doing the Queen Mary thing at the end of September as well.

Plus I also have the Professor Spock Halloween story to finish. I have started it and got a decent start, I think. It’s probably going to end up a one-shot rather than a multi-chapter fic, but we will see. There’s also the OMS challenge story (TOS) that I have to have ready in November. It won’t be a long story and I have started it at least but it takes a bit for me to find the TOS voice. And of course there is still my Christmas story! I have quite a bit done on that one and the boys are getting very close to a very nice Christmas indeed HA HA.

I’d also like to finish Anything in the not too distant future.

So you see there’s a lot I need to do before starting anything else plus all my regular updates. It felt good to finish What Happened to Spock, although now that it is finished, I can think of things I should have done, addressed, etc. Oh well.

But for now, I am working on me. My personal thing. Once I get through that, I can turn back to writing Spirk/Kock (ha ha).

For now I leave you with a picture
