Sunday Night Rambles, May 05, 2019

In case you missed it, I posted a new chapter for Primal Lust. I also posted three chapters of The Thought of You is Consuming Me, my Pinto Regency. This will be seven chapters total. I am already on chapter 6, so it should all be finished by next weekend.

For Spirk, I will be on The Ties That Bind next but not sure when that will be. I still need to catch up on some flash fic stuff. I probably will not post anything to AO3 tomorrow except the Pinto stuff. And considering I’d like to finish the Pinto story soon, Spirk might wait an extra day or two.

Tomorrow is a fasting day, bluck.

Tuesday we have tickets to see Avengers: Endgame.

This coming weekend is Mother’s Day and we’ve made arrangements to go to a steakhouse on that day. Will be fun.

I didn’t get my 10,000 steps in yesterday but I did today, so that’s a win. We had shrimp tacos and homemade refried beans today in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

JJ and I had a glass of wine together Saturday, me with my dry Sauvignon Blanc and JJ with her super sweet Moscato. I think I like enjoyed mine more than she hers, but she was a good sport!

That’s it for now.

Jim was starting to wonder how long it would take for them to rescue him from whatever whacked universe this was.

The thing of it was, he’d been unlucky to be in a mirror universe before. That one had been scary, because instead of the Federation there had been the Empire. Spock had a beard and had, at one point, held him by the neck against the wall. When he’d returned to his own universe, he still wore the bruises from Spock’s fingers.

But at least he could communicate with that Spock and the rest.

In this one, whatever it was, he somehow found himself on ancient Vulcan, or so it seemed to Jim, because they didn’t appear to be very advanced at all, and none of them seemed to speak anything other than Vulcan. And damn it, his Vulcan sucked.

The moment he had appeared, he’d been set upon by a group of half-naked Vulcan warriors thrusting weapons at him, and poking and prodding him. He hadn’t been sure if they intended to kill him, fuck him, or eat him. Or maybe all three.

Then Spock had appeared, or he sure as hell looked like Spock, also half-naked and much more muscular than his Spock, and yeah, okay, he thought of Spock as his, with long hair, and tattoos of Vulcan scripts on his chest and arms.

Anyway, he had fought off several other beastly Vulcans to claim Jim. Well, not literally. Or Jim didn’t think so.

He had been brought by Spock to a dwelling that seemed sort of a cross between a hut and a cottage. He’d been unceremoniously dumped onto a heap of cushions in the middle of said dwelling, not sure if the cushions acted as a couch or a bed, and then Spock had disappeared into another room.

Eventually he had returned with food which he had foisted upon Jim. Begrudgingly Jim had eaten it, all the while asking Spock if it was poison, and getting, of course, no response, because he was hungry and didn’t know when he would get the opportunity to eat again.

After that, and where they were now, actually, Spock sat on the cushions next to Jim simply staring at him.

“Uh.”

Spock tilted his head.

Jim moistened his lips. “Nice, um, nice tatts by the way.” Jim sort of pointed to the artwork on Spock’s chest. Spock must have gotten it because he straightened and puffed out his chest.

“So.”

Spock pointed to him. “So.”

“Oh. No. Um. No. That’s not my name.” Jim sighed. Pointed to himself. “Jim.”

“So Jim.”

He laughed. “No. Just Jim.”

“So Just Jim.”

Jim blew out a breath. “Okay, whatever. It’s not like I’ll be here long enough for it to matter.” Or so he hoped.

Spock pointed at himself. “Spock.”

“Yeah. Hi. Hello Spock.”

Spock leaned forward and put his hand on Jim’s cheek. “Pretty.”

He blinked. “You-you know the word pretty?”

Spock nodded. “Pretty!”

“Er. I mean I guess.”

“So Just Jim pretty.”

He found himself smiling in spite of himself. “Spock pretty.”

Which apparently was the wrong thing to say or the right, depending on your point of view, because suddenly Jim found himself flat on his back, underneath a very heavy Vulcan.

“Oh. Um. Wow.”

Spock smiled, which sure was strange. He put his hand on Jim’s cheek again. “Mine.”

“What?”

“So Just Jim Spock’s.”

“Well. Not that I’m not flattered or anything, but—”

Spock’s eyes narrowed. “Mine.”

And then he ripped Jim’s shirt in half.

It was at that exact moment that he heard the transporter activated and found himself reappearing on the Enterprise, lying on his back across it, unfortunately, torn shirt and all.

“Captain.”

Jim turned his head to look at his first officer, whose perfectly groomed eyebrow was arched high under those bangs of his. He moistened his lips.

“Damn it, Spock. You could have waited an hour or so.”

“Captain?”

He sighed and sat up. “I just left what is bound to be a very frustrated Vulcan.”

Spock reached down and helped him up. “If you’d like to be sent back, I can see if that can be arranged.”

Jim walked away, looking back over his shoulder. “Don’t be ridiculous. We’ll just have to role play.”

Spock stared. “Role play?”

**** Explicit, slightly altered version now online

Super Quick

Didn’t We Almost Have it All was updated just now.

Next up, though not sure when, will be The Space in My Bed, and The Ties That Bind. I am working on flashes etc, so those updates will, maybe, probably, get pushed to next week.

Thanks!

A continuation of the strip poker Spirk

Photo by Aydin Aksakal on Pexels.com

“Making any progress?”

Jim looked up from his tropical drink. Orange and red with a cute little blue umbrella sticking out. He leaned back in his chair and gazed serenely at Bones. “Huh?”

“With Spock, genius.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Didn’t you two bond over chess and poker?”

Jim frowned. They were at an outdoor bar on Risa, enjoying a very much needed shore leave. “As friends, Bones. I mean isn’t he kind of, sort of, with whatshername.”

Bones snorted. “Uhura.”

“Yeah, that one.”

“You’re such a juvenile. And no, they broke up.”

“Didn’t they get back together after the whole rescue thing, ‘oh no, I have been injured, Nyota’?”

“You do a really bad Spock imitation by the way. They did, yeah. But they broke it off again.” Bones sipped his whiskey. “Rumor has it was because of some blue-eyed dreamboat.”

It was Jim’s turn to snort and roll his eyes. “Get real.”

Bone chuckled. “I notice you immediately assumed I meant you.”

“Fuck you. Anyway, this is all bullshit.”

“Spock likes you.”

“Well, of course he likes me. As much as Spock likes anyone, of course. We’re friends. Like you and me.”

“Definitely not like you and me. Okay. I see, because you are really a juvenile, I have to say it in a way you’ll get it. He likes you likes you.”

“Does not.”

Bone sighed, somewhat dramatically Jim thought. “Who else has he asked to play strip poker with?”

“That was a joke.”

“Spock joke? Since when? He’s got the red hots for you. Or in his case the green hots, I guess.”

“Do you ever listen to yourself?” Jim finished his tropical drink. “And forget all this crap. I’m here to get laid, not talk about my first officer.”

“You sure you want to do that?”

“Why not?”

Bones shrugged. “Do you really want to mess things up with Spock by fucking around with some nameless temporary lover?”

“There is no Spock!”

“All right, if you say so.” Bones stood up. “I have a massage appointment, so I’ll see you later. And try not to get yourself in trouble.”

“It’s shore leave.”

“Exactly.”

Jim watched his friend walk away. He mumbled, “There is no Spock.”

And yet, he continued to sit right where he was, not making a move to go seek out anyone. Stupid Bones.

The waitress came by to pick up their empty glasses.

“Another one?” she asked.

“Sure and maybe some fries, too.”

“Coming right up.” Then she tilted her head. “I think that Vulcan is looking for you, sir.”

Jim glanced over and saw that Spock had entered the bar inside and was glancing around. His stomach did a little flip. Must be the drink.

“Tell him I’m out here.”

She smiled. “He’s really cute.” Then she went inside.

A moment later, Spock appeared.

“Captain?”

“Hey, Spock. Have a seat.” He gestured to where Bones had been sitting.

“I thought the doctor was with you.”

“Oh. Were you looking for him?” Jim felt a little disappointed.

Spock sat down across from him. “Not in particular.”

“I’m surprised you came down. You don’t usually do shore leave.”

Spock shrugged slightly. “It was mentioned that you were in this bar and I thought it might be…appropriate…to join you for a drink.”

“You? You’re going to drink?”

“A tropical iced tea.” Spock paused. “Unless my presence is unwelcome.”

There was just the tiniest bit of vulnerability in Spock’s brown eyes that Jim was not used to and he realized, maybe, just maybe, Bones had been right.

Jim smiled. “No, Spock. It’s not at all unwelcome.”

Another update from me on here.

The next fic to be updates is Nine Lives. That’s the last one from March.

Expect a Flash tomorrow. I forget what it is, but I am sure it will be good! ha. Oh wait! I remember now. This Jim continues from the teaching Spock poker flash.

I have everything scheduled for May and will soon begin to schedule some for June (including one that continues from May 17)

Coming up NEXT week will be updates for The Mysterious One and My Devotion. I look forward to both of those and hope you do too.

I am also going to try next week to add a 4th chapter to The Thought of You Is Consuming Me (Regency Pinto) for the Pinto de Mayo launch. Cross your fingers!

In other news I may have made a grave error in joining the cookie of the month club! HA HA. I may be eating too many cookies. Bad me!

A Bit of Rambling

So, as you know I did two updates for All I Ever Wanted yesterday. That was in anticipation of spending much of the rest of the week on flash fics through May.

I have May 3, 10, 24th, and 31st done now. I am about to tackle the one for May 17th, which is based on a suggestion JJ sent to me. Once again, thanks everyone for the suggestions they are extremely helpful. The 17th will be longer than typical and will be multiple parts. That’s why I got the flash done for the 24th and 31st as those were short! (And update: Yippee! All May flashes are now done. And Part 2 of the long flash will debut in June. Go me!)

This weekend, Saturday, my great niece Quinn turns 3 and so we are off to BFE for her birthday celebration. Her parents live like 2 hours away from us in good traffic at a place called Redlands. Her birthday is at some kiddie play gym thing where you have to wear socks inside and no shoes. We only have to be there a couple of hours but since it takes 2 to get there and 2 to get back, it’s a long ass day.

Tonight we are seeing Shazam. Looks cute so that should be fun. And that’s pretty much it for news here.

Coming Up

Thanks to Kris and JJ and EveningStar and Jamie for the ides for flashes. I can probably use these well into June and even July, so thanks so much.

Coming up for updates, besides those flashes are the last three that need updating from March:

All I Ever Wanted, The Sight, and Nine Lives.

Thank you for your patience with me.

Flash Fic Friday April 19 2019

Spock packed up all his belongings for the day, shoving them into the large business briefcase bag he carried with him daily from home to the Academy. It had been a long, tedious day, full of uninspiring students who barely paid attention.

Perhaps teaching again had not been the wisest decision. He had no patience for it and the sniveling giggling students he had to deal with.

He made it out of the building and looked up at the darkening sky. A storm was coming. He hoped he made it home before it drenched him.

For a moment he felt eager to get home, eager to end this day, and find the comfort of the apartment, a fire in the hearth, a steaming pot of tea and—

His steps faltered.

There was no one to go home to. No one who waited there to greet him with welcoming arms. The apartment would be empty, quiet and cold. No one would start the fire in the fireplace unless it was him.

No longer eager to reach his apartment, Spock stopped at a vegetarian restaurant and had a small meal and a pot of tea.

The rain had started by the time he resumed his way home and becoming miserably wet seemed appropriate.

As he approached his apartment door, his steps faltered again. There was a flutter in his side just before a warm buzz in his brain.

Spock gasped and quickly put his hand up to the door sensor.

The door popped open and he was immediately hit with the scent of Pasta Primavera. A lump rose to his throat as he stumbled forward.

“J-Jim?”

Jim turned from his position in the kitchen next to the stove. He smiled bright and beautiful, his blue eyes sparkling.

“Oh, hey. There you are!”

“I…I…”

The bright smile slipped from Jim’s face. “Spock?”

He felt his eyes fill with tears. “I-I did not know and I have-I stopped at Laru’s for a meal and I-I have ruined—”

“What?” Jim turned off the fire on the stove. “No. Honey, no. It’ll keep. Baby.”

Jim came to him and embraced him, and Spock clung to him, like he was life. He supposed, for him, Jim always would be.

“You were not supposed to return for six months.”

“I know. But, well, it was a surprise.” He cradled Spock’s face in his hands and kissed him.

Spock let out a sob and returned the kiss. “I am sorry I ruined it.”

“You didn’t, all right? Nothing is ruined.” He wiped Spock’s tears, Spock’s shame. “Hey, what’s going on?”

“I have missed you…terribly.”

Jim’s smile was sweet and gentle. “It’s going to take a while, Spock. To get your Vulcan side back. The human side is just out more right now. They said it might take up to a year.”

Spock nodded, holding Jim tight. “I do not like it.”

His husband laughed, but it was a warm and beautiful laugh. “I know, baby. I’m pretty okay with you as you normally are too.”

Spock looked at him doubtfully. “You will not be unhappy when my logical side takes over once more?”

“Are you kidding? I fell in love with Vulcan you.”

Spock frowned. “Then you do not love the human side of me?”

“The human side, the Vulcan side, Spock…I love my Spock.”

Spock pulled him close. “I would die for you.”

“Nobody’s dying, so cut that out.”

“How is it you are here? The Enterprise—”

“Is docked. There’s been some damage and she needs repairs. Long story. Which can definitely wait for later.” Jim took hold of Spock’s hands and squeezed them in his. “You’re cold and wet. I’ll start a fire, we’ll lie before it, and we can make love all night long.”

“You are truly here?” Spock swallowed. “This is not some illusion I have created?”

Jim looked into his eyes, his blue eyes bright as the sun. He took Spock’s hand and placed it over his beating heart. “Does that feel like an illusion?”

“No. But…I have fantasized us being together for so long that I…it is hard to trust this. Any of it.”

“It’s real, babe. I am.” Jim went to pull away and Spock clutched at him. “Spock—”

Spock shook his head. “If you disappear again, I’ll die.”

“I won’t, Spock. I’m here. With you. At least until the repairs are done. Longer if you want me to take a leave to stay with you until you’re better. Whatever you want, honey.”

Spock bowed his head. “I am ashamed. If my father could see me…even my mother would find me pathetic.”

“No. No. Your father knows. About all of it. And your mother? She would always be proud of you. You showed me her, remember?”

“Yes,” Spock whispered. “Just the same, I will go with you to start the fireplace.”

“Okay.”

He gripped Jim’s hand as tight as he could and though it prevented Jim from being quite as efficient as usual starting a fire in the apartment’s fireplace, Spock cared not.

And when they lay before it, Spock kept his gaze glued to his husband, and determined he would not fall asleep. If he did, he might wake up to find Jim gone. Again.

Ramblings April 15, 2019

Hello friends

Last week’s flash fic was a Mirror flash. I do love to include those sometimes. This coming Friday I get a little…odd. Or do I? You will decide.

Then that only leaves one more scheduled for April. Which means I need to begin writing and scheduling May flashes!

As you know this weekend my Saturday was taken up by a four year old’s party. Sunday was chores and a bit of shopping.

Coming up this week in updates: My Heart’s a Virgin. Not sure how many more chapters I’ll have for this one. I want them a little more settled into life on New Vulcan before I say goodbye, but you can expect a wrap up on this one in the not too distant future. All I Ever Wanted. They are headed to New Vulcan to see what can be done for Jim, if anything, and to examine their damaged bond and perhaps repair it. If I can get to it, with everything else, a new chapter of Transfer Request will also appear.

This coming weekend is Easter. M and I have Friday off. His company gave it to them as a “spring” holiday and I just took it off as paid time off. On Easter we are going to the family’s house for a Lobster Easter dinner. I make baskets for everyone because I am a nerd.

I have now finished 3 chapters of the Pinto Regency, The Thought of You is Consuming Me, which is due to return to A03 on May the 5th.

Our warm spring weather has officially arrived. Hope yours has too.
