My Rambles

Ramblings June 26, 2018

I’m very pleased to have finished You’re in My Veins. Like most stories involving my boys, I probably could have gone on forever, or at least a few years. But I felt I had come to a place where I at least could end it.

That leaves only The Experiment left for my current WIPS for the Professor-Cadet series which is now up to like 21 stories. I am sure I will think of more because honestly those stories, set in the Academy, are my wheelhouse. I love the idea of getting them together at this point.

Not sure if I will get the next part of OMS ready for Friday but I will try.

Next up on updates is Where My Demons Hide. I left it at a very dark place and that’s going to continue but next chapter is going to be very much Spock/Kirk centered. I’ve started it, in fact started it not long after finishing the last chapter, but it’s not ready by any means, nor will it be until next week.

I have an idea for a one-shot too that I hope to start in the not too distant future but I am determined that it will be a one-shot and not go on forever and ever. LOL

Hard to believe next week is the 4th of July already. As I think I mentioned, on the evening of the 3rd we go to M’s cousin who lives in a city that does their fireworks on the 3rd. Weird, but true, and they have done that for years and years. Back in the old days it was free to get into the park near where they let them off and so we often attended with a group of friends. We’d bring blankets and KFC. It was fun. So many years ago now, really, that one of my friends who we used to go with passed away over ten years ago now, so yeah, long time we used to do that. They never put on the best show ever, but it was good. And free at a time where my own city was not (they are now). Then they began to charge and oddly enough it got busier than when it was free. It became such a hassle to get in there and get out that we all sort of mutually decided not to go.

Then M’s cousin started renting a place in the hills of the city and she had the perfect view of the fireworks the city lets off without all the hassle of the crowds. We could cook our own food, drink, play with the doggy she has. All in all a way better experience. We’ve been doing it there ever since.

On the 4th, we will have a bbq at the sister’s house in our own city. Sometimes we walk down to the park that they have the fireworks at and sometimes we watch from her house. Not sure what we will do this year. But the show is one of the best you’ve ever seen. A few years back they had a disaster involving exploding fireworks (no one was killed or maimed or anything) but they had to cancel as we were all sitting there waiting. It was something because as we were walking back to her house the news helicopters were everywhere.

Anyway, I’m blathering. It’s probably my favorite part of summer. Once that passes I am always eager for my favorite time to arrive, Autumn and the holidays! Alas, summer continues merrily burning on! HA

Last week I was talked into seeing Solo. It was okay. Better than I expected and pretty decent if I pretended he had nothing to do with Harrison Ford’s character, ha ha. I liked it better than Rogue One which I hated. This week we will be seeing Ocean’s 8.

Finally finished reading Needful Things. One of Stephen King’s long novels. It’s really sad how the people turn on each other and murder each other in a mob frenzy. I was glad to see some of my favorites in the story actually survived but some of the deaths and some of what went on, just terrible. You’d like to think people are better than that, but in today’s modern times, I can’t think that anymore.

That will be all until next week (unless OMS is updated Friday). Take care everyone and please be careful out there.

As you know, I finished Stay and updated What Happened to Spock this past weekend.

My lonely days and nights are over as my sweetie came home late Saturday night. Yay!

Tuesday will be the latest update on my Old Married Spirk story.

I intend to get to When I Loved You and Anything this week. Possibly also Nine Lives and/or The Sight.

Coming up at the end of the month we’re off to Vegas for the sister’s birthday. We’ll be gone the 28-30. Then it will be about time for the 4th of July. It’s on a Wednesday which makes for a little more of a challenging celebration. We’ve already been invited to the cousin’s on the 3rd as her city always does their fireworks a day early. She has a great location up on a hill to see them. We’ve gone the last like 3 years there so I am pretty sure this will be our 4th year doing that. We’ll have food and drink first. The 4th will be at the sister’s house, and then it’s back to work the next day. Boo.

I think that’s about all I have to say now.

IMG_0733My days off work are almost over and I am sad I have to go back tomorrow. At least that means it’s less days until M comes home on Saturday night.

So far I’ve managed to watch seven movies and several episodes of Criminal Intent. I’ll watch a few more today and then after work probably some as well.

I’ve been working on my academy fic here and will likely update that again soon. Tomorrow will be another 100 words or so of my OMS story.

Up next on AO3 is What Happened to Spock, but I don’t really feel like working on that story right now. Maybe after the academy story is finished.

At the end of the month I have another couple of days off to go to Vegas for sister’s birthday. Something to look forward to. Before you know it we’ll be celebrating Independence Day.

I’ve updated All I Ever Wanted, The Sight, Unbonded and Nine Lives. I am working on The Experiment but definitely won’t have it up today.  Coming up after The Experiment is My Devotion. Jim gets out of the hospital, and shortly after, I will be working my way toward resolving the “Into Darkness” part of their story so I can move into “Beyond”. Funny after all this time in this story, Jim and Spock have yet to fully “copulate” and that will definitely be rectified soon.

I don’t really want to think about what comes after that, because I likely won’t get into those next stories until next week. I know what comes next, What Happened to Spock, and When I Loved You, but my mind isn’t even there yet.

Frankly even My Devotion’s update might squeak into next week if I can manage it because I need a break. I have explained my plan is to do a lot of comfort watching of shows and movies I enjoy and I’m just not going to make myself work very hard when I am at home on writing, so what writing I do will be at lunch at work. Mostly. And I have a half day Friday and a day off Monday, so you can see what that means.

Right now I need to take care of myself and I think you will agree with me. I will get done what I get done when I can, and please believe me, I am working on them, and want them updated as much as you do.

What’s next for me in the updating? Unbonded. Next for the Kirk and Spock in that story is some major Pon Farr and bonding action. As I think I said, it only has a three chapters of that left and one is the Pon Farr chapter coming up.

Then I am back to my boys in The Experiment. I look forward to that as both both are ridiculously smitten with each other.

Following that will by My Devotion. I am going to be continuing this story for some time as I think I will bring the timeline eventually into the Beyond time, etc… So while Jim may no longer be under the threat of Khan’s bunch, more adventure awaits.

We’ll see how far along I get with these as I’d also like to post more of The Sight and Nine Lives.

But I will be alone beginning Wednesday until June 16th and I have tendency to get absurdly lazy when I am and just watch stuff that makes me happy like movies and Star Trek.

I am looking to buy a new Loveseat from Wayfair this summer. I hope to do so soon. I have the one I want picked out, I am just watching prices, etc. I’ve never bought my own couch before as I have always gotten hand-me-downs, so I am pretty excited about it.

Anyway, that’s about it from me. Thanks for reading.

Weekly Rambles, May 30, 2018

star-trek-beyond-chris-pine

Okay, so. Had a nice weekend for Memorial Day. Too much socializing honestly. M’s friend came over on Saturday, then we went to the cousin’s on Sunday, and then the family’s on Monday. Woo. I am exhausted just thinking about all that company!

Last night we were going to go see The Book Club (aka the old lady movie) because the cousin wanted to see it but it ended up being sold out! It was in a tiny theater and was $5 Tuesday. We went to Corner Bakery instead.

No more movies until M comes back from visiting family in another state. Unfortunately the cousin expressed an interest in seeing Solo. I am so over that franchise and have heard not so great things. I am looking forward to Jurassic Park and Incredibles 2 though.

I updated You’re in My Veins this week. I also posted the first three chapters of The Sight to AO3. I will likely post the 4th chapter here before I post it there, but at the moment it is unwritten. You can expect an update of my very sad 100 words continuation story on Friday. Other than that, I just don’t know what’s going to come next.

Hard to believe it is almost June! Where does the time go?

Ramblings, Week of May 21, 2018

Currently I am working on off Archive stuff. The 100 Words and The Sight.

Next up on Archive stories is Where My Demons Hide. I’m delaying working on it for a number of reasons, but the most relevant here is that I want to take Jim to a very dark place next and I’m not really sure how well that will go over with readers. I really can’t get the idea of what I want to do out of my head, so I am torn. I suppose I could write it and then “delete it” and consider it as a “deleted scene” like they do in movies (for example the scene where Amanda and Sarek welcome baby Spock, or Amanda tells Sarek she’s not happy with his response to Spock’s bullying, or the part where Sam leaves and Jim tells Frank he doesn’t want Sam to leave and Frank says what Jim wants is nothing because he is nothing).

Anyway, that’s where I am at, so…right now it’s stalled.

I updated a lot lately on there anyway so it’s cool. It’s time to let others shine on there with their updates.

Not sure when I will have chapter 3 of The Sight up but the next part of 100 Words is up tomorrow, Tuesday.

I took Friday off of work, so I have a 4 day weekend for Memorial Day Weekend. I am greatly looking forward to it.

This week we will finally see The Avengers. We never saw the original Deadpool so that’s not on our agenda and none of us is eager to see Solo, so that may push us next into whatever comes out in June after this. We shall see.

I’ve updated What Happened to Spock today but AO3 has been a major pain for the last couple of days so who knows if you will ever get to read it!

I’ve also got a good jump on the next chapter of Nine Lives.

Once that has been finished, I’ll tackle When I Loved You. When last I left it, Jim and young Jim were being threatened by a tiger-like creature on a strange planet.

There will be an update of 100 words tomorrow and Friday.

Not sure what comes after When I Loved You because I can’t get into AO3 to see, but I think it “may” be Anything. In any event, I may update something that or something else if the opportunity comes.

In August 2012, I visited this area of Hawaii where Kilauea is currently erupting. It is an area that is always active but not to the extent it has been lately. We stood at the Park overlooking Kilauea that year, amazed at nature at work. It was pointed out to me yesterday that it was 2012, whereas, it seems to me like it could have been yesterday. What a tragedy to befall the residents there. Like anywhere where natural disaster can hit (earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, etc) you always know it “CAN” happen but you never quite think it will until it does. Hawaii is such a beautiful place but much of its beauty has been shaped by volcanoes and the like, just like many other places.

Anyway, I thought it was sort of interesting to have been to that place in the past. Probably only to me! HA.

End of Weekish Ramblings, 05/10/2018

You get a very very very pretty Chris Picture today!

INTRO_ChrisPine

Last rambling update for the week, I promise!

Got The Experiment update done and up. I am a little insanely in love with this Jim. Chapter update was almost 3,000 words. Go me!

I thought I might have to wait to post an update to My Devotion but I am moving right along with writing it so I anticipate getting it up tomorrow. Just hit the 60,000 word mark which is super exciting for someone who is not a long writer like me! This one might surpass Going Boldly as my longest.

Tomorrow is the next part of my 100 Words story here on the blog.

Sunday is a Mother’s Day BBQ here for us. Saturday I expect to chill but I may do some work on the holiday story just to keep plugging along with it. Hard to believe it’s approaching the middle of May already. It will be summer before you know it. We’re dropping down into the 70s for the next week or so which is extremely welcome May weather for us.

Thank you for those of you who continue to support my stories by reading them. I wouldn’t be doing it anymore, probably, if it wasn’t for you, and I thank you most sincerely.
