The over time over the next few months is going to be more hours and more complicated than I thought initially. I may be fairly scarce but I will do my absolute best to give you content in fics when I can. Nothing is abandoned and I will finish everything and do updates. I promise.
But it’s a good thing I said I would only do Fridays for June. We’ll see for July.
Here’s a picture of the dessert I had Sunday night for my latest little getaway. Pretty huh? Chocolate mousse and ice cream.
I worked 11 hours of over time this week. I’ll probably work some more over the next several weeks. I’m beat though but trying to squeeze in updates as I can.
I am working on a 5 Plus 1 story. Don’t knew when it’ll be out for consumption. I’ll probably do a few of these over the next few months as I do enjoy them. This first one is: 5 Times Jim and Spock Were With Other People and the One Time They Were Together.
I’ve been re-reading some old Professor-Cadet stories thanks to Eveningstar continuing that theme after First Impressions. It’s making me itch the write more Starfleet Academy.
But I’m also itching to write something angsty (with a happy ending of course) so we will see. I have all those WIPS to do too plus 3 more flashes for June and the Christmas in July stuff.
Plus later this month, on the 18th, my nephew is renting out an AMC theater for friends and family to see the new Jurassic Park movie for his birthday (36 I think). And at the end of June is Morro Bay. Busy always busy.
Don’t you worry though content is always coming!
See you sometime next week on the blog that’s it for now
Logically, Spock had no reason to rush to the hospital. He had already been informed that his boyfriend, Jim Kirk, was stable and in good condition, and yet he found that he was rushing to be at Jimās side, nevertheless.
Heād received the somewhat terse message from Jimās difficult best friend, Leonard McCoy. Heād been forced to finish the course heād been instructing before he was able to leave.
As soon as Spock stepped through the open door of the hospital room, he felt calmer. More relieved.
Jim sat up in the bed, hair adorably rumpled, a cup of something in his hands. His glance went straight to Spock. His expression brightened immediately and it was all Spock could do not to respond in kind.
āSpock!ā
McCoy had been standing beside the bed talking to Jim. He frowned at Spock.
āJust a few minutes. He needs rest.ā
āDonāt listen to him,ā Jim said as Spock made it to his side. āBarely a scratch.ā
āDoctor McCoy advised you had been struck by a hover car.ā
Jim rolled his eyes. āIt was a hover cart. You know the kind that the delivery guys use.ā
āIt knocked him to the ground and he hit his head,ā McCoy said. āGot a concussion.ā
āIt really was nothing.ā Jim smiled. āBut Iām glad youāre here. Tell Bones I can go home.ā
āYouāre staying overnight for observation.ā
“Oh come on. Spock, tell him it’s nonsense.”
āNow see hereā”
Spock touched his fingers to Jimās. āI bow to the doctorās judgement, Jim.ā
McCoy smiled and bounced up and down. āWell. Thatās good then. Just a few minutes.ā
And McCoy left them alone.
āYou look worried,ā Jim said softly.
āI am. Or was. I feel better now.ā
āIt really was just a small thing. Iāve got a hard head.ā
āHmm. Still I am glad it was not more serious.ā Spock sat on the edge of the bed when Jim scooted over. āIf you would like to delayāā
āNo. No way. Weāre leaving on Saturday for Vulcan to meet your parents.ā
Spock nodded. āVery well. What is that you have?ā
āBonesā nasty broth. Iād kill for some coffee.ā
āHow about tea?ā
āA milkshake?ā
āTea.ā
Jim sighed. āOkay. And a cookie.ā
Spockās lips quirked. āAnd a cookie.ā He kissed Jimās forehead and went to fetch the tea and cookie, letting out the last of his worry and tension as he did so.
Jim sat straight up, gawking at the figure sitting on the edge of the bed.
āSp-pock?ā
Then he threw his arms around Spock as Spockās arms came around his. Spockās arms tightened and held him very close.
Tears sprung to Jimās eyes before he could stop them. A gasping sob escaped.
āI am here, Jim, I am here,ā Spock whispered.
āAre you even real?ā
Spock pulled away but only to frame Jimās face with his hands so that he could kiss him. Spockās warm lips crushed his, kissing him as though he needed to make up for a yearās time.
Spock broke the kiss, panting. āI am real.ā
āButā¦how are you here? I thoughtā¦ā
āI could not leave you, Jim. You are my Tāhyāla. My bondmate. You areā¦everything. I have spent the last year trying to find a way for us to be together. My brother was working on a way to help me.ā
āIām going crazy, Spock. I donāt want to live like this.ā
āNor do I.ā Spock put his hand on Jimās face and in a moment Jim felt a burst of warmth and then so much love and tenderness.
āIs that the bond?ā he asked, awed.
āYes, ashayam. I unshielded. I will never keep you out of my mind again.ā He blew out a long breath and leaned their heads together. āNo matter how we live it must be together.ā
Jim swallowed and nodded. āGod, it feels so good to have you here.ā More tears fell down his cheeks. āIf this is a dream, I never want to wake.ā
āI must concur. But if it is a dream, we are both having it.ā
Spock kissed him again. āWill you come with me?ā
āTo the future?ā
āYes. I do not wish to take you from your family, howeverāā
āTheyāll be okay.ā Jim felt his pulse racing. āDad knows. Weāve talked. Mom and Sam donāt, but I think Dad would tell them, I donāt know, but he said theyād all be okay. Spock, I could do it. I can go with you.ā
āThe other way that we have figured out is to have me stay here, with you in this time.ā
Jim frowned. āHow would that work? I mean with your different physiology.ā
āLeonard McCoy. He said if the only way was for me to come here to be with you, he would come here too, to be my doctor.ā
Jim blinked, startled. āYeah?ā
āYes, Jim. Whichever way we choose, there will be times when we could use the technology my brother has developed to cross over to either the past or the future. Not often, not even as much as every year, but it could be done.ā
āNot without risk though,ā Jim guessed.
āYes, there is still the chance something could go wrong.ā Spock took Jimās hands in his. āThe choice is yours, Tāhyāla. For me, the choice is to be with you, wherever you wish. Where I am from is more familiar to me, but I can adjust to anything, do anything, to be with you.ā
Jim pulled away and rose. He ran his hand over his face. āI need coffee.ā
Spock got up too. āCome.ā
They left the bedroom and went out to the kitchen of Spockās apartment. Jim silently made a pot of coffee, his mind a whirl of thoughts, mostly confusing ones.
āWhat do you want?ā he asked Spock, when he turned from the coffeemaker after he set it to brew.
āTo be with you.ā
āMe too. Do they have coffee there?ā
Spock smiled slightly. āThey do, yes.ā
Jim closed his eyes. āMy family and friends are here. Your family and friends are there.ā
āYes.ā
āHere you would always have to hide your true self, there I would have no idea whatās going on, really. But I could learn.ā
āHere the weather is good, there it sucks.ā
Spock chuckled softly, making Jimās eyes open in surprise.
āPros and Cons,ā Jim explained. āI canāt help but go through them.ā
āI understand.ā
āYou would outlive me.ā He got that thought from Spock. For heād somehow been given the knowledge that Vulcans outlived Humans by a number of years. āWhen I die, if you were here, youād be able to go back there.ā
āTheoretically.ā
āTheoretically,ā Jim agreed. āI donāt know what to do, Spock.ā
Spock sighed, it was soft and low. He nodded. āThen allow me to choose for you, ashayam. We will stay here on Earth. In your time. Doctor McCoy will come here as our friend and my doctor. And you will have your friends and family with you.ā
āBut thatās not fair.ā
āWhat is not fair is to be apart. Everything else is workable, Jim. I want your choice to make you happy.ā
The coffee had finished so Jim turned and filled his mug with coffee. It was the Dad mug Jim had found so long ago now. It seemed an eternity but really wasnāt and even though it kind of felt like it, he had not loved Spock for an eternity.
He took a few sips of coffee.
āThis place, this cityā¦itās my home.ā
Spock nodded.
Jim set his coffee mug down.
āBut my home is you now, Spock. I want it to be. I love you. What we have, I think, is the love of a lifetime. I feel you everywhere. Thisā¦ā He gestured around. āThis is my old life. My future is you. With youā¦in the future.ā
Spockās warm chocolate eyes gazed at Jim intensely. āAre you sure, Tāhyāla?ā
Jim smiled and kissed him. āIām sure.ā
Spock drew him close and into his arms once more. āYouāre my future too.ā
No matter how many times Jim came to the Starfleet Memorial Cemetery in San Francisco, it never failed to not only fill him with sorrow but give him the chills. So many lives lost and each year more appeared.
He went to his fatherās memorial first. It was a plaque only, thereād been no remains to bury or cremate.
He didnāt linger there long as heād never known his dad, really. Just the idea of a dad and stories his mother told him.
Pike was next. There he stayed longer, but he didnāt speak. Really, he never spoke much when he came here. It was just, when he was in the city, he came, to honor those he knew and came before him.
He stopped at othersā¦Gaila, Chekov, both far too young.
Komack.
And then finally, Scotty, Sulu, Uhura.
Bones.
Having super blood meant you outlived everyone else, Jim guessed. There were some things that were not worth it.
Jim turned to face Spock, who accompanied him. His dark eyes were soft, warm, and likewise filled with sorrow.
āThanks for coming with me,ā he whispered.
āI always will. Our transport to New Vulcan awaits.ā
Jim had no idea why he was there. It was stupid and pointless. He knew that.
After he had returned to his time, without Spock, heād gone to Spockās apartment and found all that Spock had left behind. Even now it was empty, not rented by anyone else, because Spock had, apparently paid the rent well in advance, not wishing to bother with it. Heād been gone a year, and yet according to Jimās now former apartment manager, the place was still leased for another six months.
Jim came there to this apartment in San Francisco every once in a while. Just to remind himself of Spock and yes, he knew it was crazy.
Here he was again. Just sitting on the couch, staring into space, wishing for something he couldnāt have.
Heād made himself coffee with the coffeemaker Spock bought for him. And that hurt his heart, to remember that.
When he came here, he brought food with him, cream for his coffee, and just soaked it up, he guessed.
Jim was pretty sure his dad understood. But he knew he got strange looks from Sam and his mom. Once Sam told him that he needed to move on and find love elsewhere, but Jim knew that wasnāt going to happen. Not for him.
Sometimes, Jim tried to reach Spock with his mind but nothing ever happened, and he knew Spock had somehow āshieldedā things between them anyway.
Hope sprang eternal or so the saying claimed but he was fast losing any hope heād ever had, which admittedly hadnāt been much.
With another six months on the lease here, Jim had to make the decision whether to continue coming or just give up. Heād never been one to give up before, but this situation was different. Spock was in the future and for all Jim knew he had forgotten there was any past.
I do not belong there, in your time.
Spock had made his position pretty clear. And heād also made sure to have Jim go back to his time. Perhaps Spock paid more attention to Sarek than Jim thought he would.
He leaned his head back against the couch.
āThis is stupid. Youāre an idiot. Coming here for an entire year to an empty place that doesnāt even have a trace of Spock in it.ā
Jim had spoken out loud.
There was no response, of course.

Jim woke in the dark sometime later, stretched out on his back on Spockās bed. Next to the bed, on the floor, was an empty pizza box. Jim had pathetically stuffed his face before lying down.
He had no idea what had awakened him, so he stayed still, listening. It was pitch black and he couldnāt see a thing. Heād left his cell phone on the table by the bed, so he reached blindly for it and activated it so heād have a light.
He found a text from Sam.
Hey, are you doing okay?
It came through hours ago. Heād call Sam in the morning.
After a bit, he closed his eyes again, not able to figure out what woke him.
He slept again fitfully.
When he woke again, it was to fingers stroking across his face.
Jim blinked rapidly.
āShh. Tāhyāla, it is all right.ā
One more to go, either tomorrow or Tuesday…we will see.
It’s been a while so I thought I’d get some pictures up of May here in So Cal. How long will this last considering we are on mega water restrictions? Who knows.
In other news, I am going to be working a lot of Over Time at work on a project for a few months so that’s going to cut even more into my writing. Sorry to say.
Someone commented recently about me working on Spirk fic on AO3 for pretty much a decade, which is close to true (9 years in August) and though they were complimentary it also got me thinking. How long is too long? I don’t know.
