temps

Take a look at those temperatures. That’s my week! Oiye! This week is going to be murder! I hate when October gets like this.

Those days with the thermometers there is an excessive heat warning.

I hope it comes back down by this coming Saturday, October 28th, because my house desperately needs to be cleaned. I am quite embarrassed by it. But who wants to clean when it’s a million degrees. Yes folks, currently it is hotter here than it is in Vegas right now.

In other news I turned Sheer Determination into a one-shot. It’s going to be two chapters. The current full first chapter is up at AO3. Look for the conclusion and second chapter up later this week.

I finished the chapter of What Happened to Spock and put it live. It’s sort of a transitional chapter.

I think my Cinderella story, When I Fall in Love, is up next after that so I hope to get working on that this week.

This year we have decided to go out to Thanksgiving dinner next month so over the weekend we picked our restaurant and I made the reservation.

We plan on seeing Geostorm this week. Didn’t do so well in the box office but it’s a disaster movie, I’m sure it’s terrible, they all are. LOL.

Other than that I have not much to say. Had a quiet weekend where I sort of just lazed around like a sloth.

Enjoy!

Almost forgot, here’s the cheesecake! It was soooo good.

Sheer Determination

Sometimes he didn’t mind being alone. It wasn’t an unusual occurrence. Most of his childhood had been spent that way. At least until he got sent away. But before that, before Sam had left, Jim spent most days finding ways to entertain himself. Most of his classmates thought he was too smart or too cocky or too cute or…too something.

He’s made friends on Tarsus, but that hadn’t gone well.

And when he’d gone to the academy, well, he’d met Bones. He’d met a few others. Gary Mitchell, for example, but Gary went batshit crazy and decided he was a god with psychic powers.

Bones stuck with him though and that was good.

He got the Enterprise and he loved his crew, he did. And he was pretty sure he’d gained their admiration and trust, if not their love. His officers were friendly with him and occasionally he spent time with them.

It was all good.

And then there was Spock.

They were friends. At least Spock had finally admitted it while Jim was dying. And during his recovery he had acted like they were friends and things were good.

But once they got on the Enterprise, well, things got strange again. Spock wasn’t openly derisive like he’d once been. But he grew distant and spent most of his off time with Uhura.

Bones was great, he really was, but Jim supposed Bones needed a break from him every once in a while.

And so when they’d gone to Yorktown, Jim had spent his time there, before being called in by Commodore Paris, alone.

Everything changed with Krall, of course. All Jim’s doubts that had crept in about his place in all this disappeared.

He belonged with the Enterprise. He was the captain. And if it meant being alone the rest of his damn life, he had the ship. His beautiful lady.

There were still times he got bored. Still times he wanted to do anything but spend his time alone in his quarters. This was one of those times.

Bones was busy. There’d been a minor explosion on deck five that had caused a few injuries and as grumpy as Bones could be, he was grumpier still when he had casualties to tend to.

So he found out via the computer that Spock was in lab 6, so, after some contemplation, he headed there.

He’d made it to the outside of the lab when he heard the low murmur of voices. Uhura and Spock.

Damn, he hadn’t intended to interrupt a date or whatever.

“Spock,” Uhura’s voice suddenly rose. “You need to tell him.”

“It is…difficult.”

“Of course it is. But he needs to know. You can’t go on like this. We can’t go on like this. So the only thing to do is tell him. He needs to know your decision.”

Fuck.

Spock was going to leave.

Bones had told him about Spock maybe going to New Vulcan before all the Krall stuff happened. He’d heard that Spock and Uhura had even ended their relationship over it, briefly, as they were back together, obviously.

Which probably meant they would both leave.

“I cannot. To lose him as a friend—”

“You won’t. He won’t react that way.”

Of course Jim wouldn’t. He would support Spock leaving if that was what he wanted. But he couldn’t hear anymore. It was too much.

He turned around and went back down the corridor and to the turbolift. He willed away the tears that sprang to his eyes.

He was the captain. And he would get through this just like he got through everything.

Sheer determination.

04My prompt was a diplomatic gift that makes Spock jealous and act on his feelings for Jim.

The captain was flirting. Ridiculously, obviously flirting.

Spock was pointedly trying to ignore it but not with a lot of success. Each over done laugh or too bright smile from Kirk was grating on his nerves.

“Captain,” the beautiful blonde female Lasronian gushed to Kirk, her talon-like fingers clutching onto his arm like she was afraid he was try to get away. Spock knew better. His captain was eating up the attention. “How is it you’re unmated?”

“Well—”

“You must be the most gorgeous Terran I have ever seen,” she said breathlessly.

“I’m sure that must be an exaggeration,” Kirk said quickly.

“Oh, I assure you it is not.”

Spock had certainly heard enough. “The gift you spoke of presenting to Captain Kirk?”

She glanced at Spock with a slight frown, he suspected it contained both irritation and the acknowledgement that she was not alone with Kirk in her boudoir.

“Yes. The presentation.” She bit her lip. “I had thought to present it to your captain in private.”

“Far be it from me to—”

“Unfortunately, that is against Starfleet regulations,” Spock interrupted.

“Mister Spock—”

“As first officer it is my duty to ensure the captain’s safety, you understand.”

“Oh, well, Commander, I am hardly a threat to your captain, surely.”

Spock gave a slight shrug. “Protocol.”

“Very well.” She walked across the room to a table where she lifted a box from.

Spock ignored the disgruntled looks his captain was giving him.

The Lasronian returned with the box and with her cheeks slightly flushed with purple, she handed it to Kirk, who flipped open the box.

It was an elaborate golden necklace with a half- moon shaped golden gemstone.

“This is a betrothal necklace for our people,” she told Kirk, with pride in her voice.

Kirk blinked. “A-a betrothal necklace?”

“Yes.” Her smile widened as she put her hands on his arm once more. “I choose you as my mate.”

“Wait. What?”

She lifted her chin. “Since you do not have a mate, you cannot refuse per Lasronian culture.”

Kirk had gone pale and he glanced at Spock.

Spock stepped forward. “There is a misunderstanding.”

“Oh?”

“Captain Kirk has a mate,” Spock explained carefully. “As he was about to advise you when you asked him about being unmated.”

She frowned. “He has?”

“A very jealous one.” Spock stepped carefully in front of his captain and stared down at her. “Vulcans are very possessive by nature.”

Her jaw went slack. “You are the captain’s mate?”

Spock quirked a brow. “The captain is my mate. Vulcans have telepathic bonds which cannot be broken easily. ”

She took the box out of Kirk’s hand and snapped the lid closed. To Spock’s satisfaction, she stepped back. “I see. Under the circumstances, I cannot let our sacred bonding necklace go with you, Captain.”

“I understand,” Kirk said. “It’s time that my first officer and I take our leave, Prime Minister. It has been an honor.”

“The honor is ours, Captain, Commander.”

Kirk said little as they made their way back to the Enterprise and when they made their way into the turbolift, the captain kept glancing Spock’s way.

Spock stopped its forward motion. “Yes, Captain?”

Kirk moistened his lips. “Thought Vulcans didn’t lie.”

“We do not.”

“Hm. Did you imply then?” He was smirking.

“To what do you refer?”

“All that talk about us being mates, Spock. And I completely appreciate it. I do. Having sex with her would have been one thing but I sure as hell didn’t want to marry her.” Kirk shook his head. “But you didn’t have to compromise your Vulcan principles or whatever.”

“I have not.”

“But—”

“I did not lie,” Spock said carefully. He put himself in Kirk’s personal space and backed the captain up against the turbolift wall. “You are my mate and I do not appreciate your flirting.”

Kirk frowned. “What are you talking about?”

Spock raised his hand to Kirk’s face. “You are my T’hy’la.”

The captain gasped. “Your…I’ve heard that word. The older you used it.”

With his other hand, Spock touched his finger to Kirk’s. Blue eyes widened and stared at Spock in wonderment.

“Let me show you.”

Spock entered Kirk’s mind, gently, slowly, allowing his captain to get used to another presence there. He spotted the glowing golden threads reaching out for Spock and Spock met them with a soft caress as they intertwined with cool, silver threads.

“Spock,” Kirk gasped. He was shaking and Spock was holding him. He dropped his hand from Kirk’s face and pressed a kiss to his lips.

“Do you see?”

Kirk smiled against Spock’s mouth. “You sure know how to make a declaration.”

“And?”

“And what?” Kirk asked, drawing Spock’s lips back to his.

“Do you—”

“Wanna fuck? Oh yeah.”

“Reciprocate,” Spock said somewhat stonily. Not that he was opposed to Kirk’s suggestion. He most certainly was not.

“You were in my mind. You know I do.”

Spock growled and crushed Kirk’s mouth under his. “She had her hands all over you.”

“She was a grabby thing, wasn’t she?”

“I smell her on you. I will wash you from head to toe.”

Kirk’s tongue came out to trace his lips. His breathing was uneven and Spock could feel the hard ridge in his pants. “If you insist.”

Spock closed his hand over the nape of Kirk’s neck. “I do. And then I will learn your taste.”

He stepped back abruptly, leaving Kirk sagging against the wall as he restarted the turbolift. When the doors opened onto the floor with the officers’ quarters they came face to face with Sulu and Scott who were about to enter the lift they exited.

Kirk was flushed red but he greeted them both before he and Spock hurried down the corridor.

Sulu shook his head as the door closed. “Told you they were gay.”

End of the Week Ramblings, October 19, 2017

chrissy

This week I have been busy updating.

I finished October Romance, updated Who’s the Daddy, Young and Beautiful and You’re in My Veins. I have also nearly completed the next chapter of Unbonded and that will go up sometime tomorrow.

Also, I wrote a Flash Fic for this week which will go live at somewhere around 4 AM Pacific Time.

Next week I plan to continue updating stories that have been waiting since September to be updated. I think for next week that means at least What Happened to Spock and When I Fall in Love. If it’s more than those, we shall see.

This weekend I will likely work on the Christmas story and the Winter Story if I work on anything at all. I have plans to do some shopping and some mindless television/movie stuff. I am back to taking the weekends off from posting unless there’s some huge pressing need to do so.

Tomorrow night, M and I are having a date at one of our favorite restaurants. They make this to die for Pumpkin Cheesecake that I will definitely be ordering.

Ramblings of the Week, October 16th

I had a pretty quiet weekend, intentionally, I might add. I didn’t do much of anything. It was impossible to sleep in though because it was hot and windy and it wrecked havoc on my sinuses and asthma.

The only writing I did was to begin my Christmas Spirk story. As I explained I don’t want to get caught at the last minute with nothing to post.

I am not doing any of the “challenges” for the foreseeable future. No Old Married Spirk this year, No Big Bang (reverse or otherwise), and no K/S Advent (I never have done this, I just do my own thing for holiday themed stories). I don’t need any more pressure on myself than I’ve already given myself.

This  morning I completed October Romance which was a lot of fun to write.

It’s supposed to be hot here for about the next week and a half. Meh. I am ready for cooler weather but unfortunately it isn’t ready for me.

I haven’t really decided what else to work on writing wise this week. Up next should be Who’s the Daddy but to be perfectly honest I am not particularly enamored of that story and I just wish it was over. This is what happens when I write stories to make others happy instead of myself. I know many people love Spirk baby stories and I totally support people loving that but I am just not one of them. I’ll try to stick it out though and get it done completely eventually. I’d like to have it done and out of my hair before the end of the year.

I did make some progress on The Winter Story.  I am going to desperately love these two together, I think.

I am itching to get back to What Happened to Spock and my little Vulcan with Jim story. Isn’t that odd since I am not a fan of “family” stories. HA HA.

There are a few stories I’d like to say goodbye to before 2018, so we shall see how I do with those.

This weekend (and oh my yes, I am already thinking of the coming weekend), is another one where I intend to chill out and do pretty much nothing. As long as I can do that, I will, because once the real holiday season comes up I am going to be slammed with commitments and it will make me just a little bit crazy stressed. Another reason to get the Christmas story very much written. I intend it to be mostly fluffy though, so it should be fun.

I need to get back to all the angst stories too like Didn’t We Almost Have it All. I know certain friends are definitely looking for that.

Today I am leaving you with a Pintoish picture. Even though Quinto seems to be getting very very close to his BF indeed. Bleh, LOL

Sneak Peek December Holiday Story

It’s sneak time. And it’s never too early to begin your Christmas story. This won’t debut until December. But you lucky blog followers (ha) get to see the beginning now.

There’s just the slightest bit chill in the air as James Kirk held open the department store door for Winona Kirk as they exited.

“Brr,” his mother said. “It’s gotten cold since we went inside.”

“We were in there for hours,” Jim replied, making his tone just a little like a protest. He stopped and adjusted the scarf around her neck. “And anyway, this is nothing like Riverside in December.”

“Thank God for that.” She smiled. “Do you think I got enough?”

“Yes.”

“But maybe—”

“Mom, yes. You got plenty for heaven’s sake.” He looped his arm in hers and dragged her away from the store before she can decided to go back inside.

“Let’s go to Humphrey’s.” Her eyes were glowing.

Humphrey’s was just a little restaurant, almost a diner really, about half a block or so down from the department store. Once it had actually been in the department store or so his mom said. She had a complete and utter fondness for it because back in their academy days, when Winona and George were just new and in love, they’d gone there many times.

“Sure, let’s do it.”

They got seated by the window, looking out to the street, which was shining brightly with red and green lights, and gold and silver garland set up on old fashioned lamp posts. Holiday music played softly in the background at Humphreys. They’d stuffed her shopping bags under the table and against the wall under the window.

When the waitress arrived at their table, his mother turned pleading eyes at him. “Please?”

Jim laughed because he knew exactly what she wanted and wasn’t that a little freaky? Kirk habits died hard. “Fine.”

She beamed a smile at the waitress. “Two hot cocoas with peppermint schnapps.”

“Coming right up,” the waitress promised.

Winona sighed and rested her chin on her hands. “This brings back such memories.”

“I know.”

“You could still come with me.”

“I know that too,” Jim said with an agreeable smile. “But no. This is your time with Sam and his family.”

“You’re Sam’s family too, you know.”

“Just go and have a great time with Sam and Aurelan, Debbie and Peter. They’re excited you’ll be spending Christmas on Deneva with them.”

“But what about you?” His mother grimaced. “Please don’t tell me you’re going to Riverside by yourself.”

“Hell no. Not dealing with the snow. I’m staying in San Francisco.”

Currently, he was on a six month leave, required by Starfleet, before going out for his second five year mission, thank you very much. He couldn’t wait for the leave to be over. But unfortunately he was  only about a month into it.

“Hm. Nobody should spend the holidays alone, Jimmy.”

The waitress brought over their spiked cocoa and then looked at them expectantly.

“I’ll have the French Onion soup and a side of garlic bread.”

“The club sandwich,” his mother said. She looked at Jim as the waitress left. “Onions and garlic? Not kissing anyone tonight I’m guessing.”

He rolled his eyes at that. “Obviously.”

“What about your friend Leonard?”

“I don’t kiss him,” Jim said with a straight face.

“Funny. I meant what’s he doing for the holidays?” She picked up her cocoa and blew on it.

“Spending them with his daughter in Georgia.”

“And your first officer?”

“He’s a Vulcan. They don’t do holidays.”

She took a sip of the cocoa and smiled. “So yummy.”

Jim loved when she was like this. Almost  innocent.

“And anyway, he’s probably spending his leave with his fiancé.”

“He has a fiancé?”

Jim shrugged. “Yeah, pretty much. My communications officer.”

Mom shook her head at that but she didn’t elaborate further on her thoughts. “What about that evil admiral’s daughter?”

He laughed again. “Carol? Uh, Mom, she left the Enterprise because we didn’t work out.”

She sniffed. “Just as well. She’s probably as batshit crazy as her daddy.”

“You’re too much. And anyway, I’m fine here. I don’t need anyone to keep me company.”

“What are you going to do?”

“Oh, I don’t know. Probably get myself a little  tree and some decorations and watch old Christmas movies or something. Maybe make some gingerbread and cookies.”

She bit her lip. “Sounds lonely.”

“It’s not. I’m looking forward to it.”

“Don’t let me forget to give you your present before I leave.”

“I told you not  to get me anything.”

She arched her brows. “I didn’t listen.”

“You never do.” He took a big sip of his cocoa.

“Remember that Christmas before Frank? It was the last one we had with just you, me and Sammy.”

Jim nodded. “Sure, I remember. I loved that Christmas.”

“Me too,” she said wistfully. “Maybe if you came to Deneva—”

“Mom.”

The waitress arrived at the moment with their food, successfully distracting his mother.

Flash Fic Friday, October 13, 2017

He’s pacing back and forth. He knows he is. In the old days they’d say he was wearing a hole in the floor or some such thing, but this was not the old days. And he was on a ship in the medbay, wearing worry and concern as surely as he was wearing his command shirt.

“I’ll com you as soon as he wakes,” Bones says for the tenth time.

He shakes his head for the same amount of times.  He’s digging his fingers into his palms and for the first time in as long as he can think of, he is grateful he bites his nails and the bluntness of his nails as it hits the flesh of his palms.

He goes over everything that happened down on the planet. It plays over and over in his head like the replaying of a movie. The moment when Spock pushed him out of the way to take the brunt of the explosion won’t stop haunting him no matter how much he tries to push it away.

When Spock groans softly, he flies to his first officer’s side, reaching it even before Bones does. Bones gently moves him out of the way, scanning Spock.

His heart is in his mouth while he watches. Spock’s eyes are open and Bones is murmuring to him but he’s not even listening. His entire focus is on Spock.

When Bones turns to him, Bones is smiling, relief clear in his eyes. Now it’s him who pushes Bones out of the way as he clasps Spock’s hand in his.

Somewhere in the distance he hears Bones talking to a woman, he thinks Uhura, probably checking on Spock. But he ignores them and stares into beautiful dark eyes.

“You’re alive.”

“Obviously,” Spock says gently.

“Spock—”

“As are you.” Spock shakes his head very slightly. “I do not regret it.”

He closes his eyes and leans down, touching his lips to Spock’s. And he is grateful that the lips are warm with life.

melting

So I had a mini-meltdown on Saturday, not going to lie. I had a headache since the day before that and it would not go away. I didn’t sleep well. I woke up groggy and unrested and depressed.

Circumstances conspired against me to bring me to an ever lower place and I wrote a post saying I was going to change the blog, which I later deleted. I actually considered deleting the blog as well as my tumblr account. I hit delete on that probably five times and the only thing that stopped it from happening was it wanted my password and I couldn’t remember what it was.

Then I got that out of left field comment on For the First Time and I lost it. I somehow managed to update You are the Light but damn it dragged me further down. I was glad I got it done, honestly, but it managed to just make me so much sadder.

I’m a creator of my own stress at times as definitely certain people will tell you and promises I make to strangers definitely comes under that category. I promised I’d get an update done and I did.

I had to lighten things for myself as best I could and believe me the news I see everyday makes that difficult indeed. And even though I told myself I have no time for challenges (OMS for instance. I did it last year, I just can’t do it this year) and special holiday stories (the now world famous Professor Spock story was a Halloween story, HA), I decided I had to write one for my own sanity. I needed something fun and lighthearted. I wanted a heroic Jim, a hurt Spock. I wanted a love story that would make ME melt. And so October Romance has arrived. Halloween is in three weeks. And this story will be done by then. I have no idea how long it will be or any of that and it’s even likely it will be done before that day. Because this is what I must work on for now.

Otherwise, my weekend was okay. I did some necessary shopping on Sunday. Got some new coffee to try. Bought some wine. Watched the Halloween Baking Championship on Food Network. Saturday watched some movies that are just so over the top and I’ve seen so many times they couldn’t possibly scare me. They are like old friends.

Anyway, so I am taking it easy this week and doing fluffy. For those waiting for angst I hope you will be patient. Who knows where I will be next week. It may be an angst fest!

I know I owe readings to some others who have updated, and I WILL get to them.

Until next time, Live Long and Prosper.

Okay Yes I Changed My Mind

Again, yes.

I’m all over the place today. I feel bad. My head hurts. I’m emotionally drained.

And yet I still must deal with rude, mean people. Somebody posted on For the First Time in My Life I was Happy on like Chapter Fucking Five that she thought she was supposed to be reading a Spirk story not a story with Spock and his fake relationship. And that’s what tags are for. Now fucking, seriously? Why in the world do people have to be so damn rude? It IS a Spirk story. I just don’t get it. Am I insane or are they?

You don’t have to read my work. You don’t have to like me. You don’t have to trust me. You don’t have to give a damn. I get it.

But I am weary of it.

So anyway, today I am just watching stupid stuff. The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Halloween. Now I am about to watch The Fog.

I have been crying and depressed all day and that was just the straw.

So if I am short with you. Or mean. Or ignoring you. Or whatever…this is why. Because damn it’s hard right now. The news is depressing. And now I can’t even escape with my writing.

And yes I am ranting. And yes you can say “Fuck You” to me if that makes you happy.

But I am weary of it.
