Tried to imply a bit that they are looking for McCoy ala City on the Edge of Forever here.

“That is one giant tree,” Jim remarked as he stopped in Rockefeller Center to look up toward the giant Christmas tree. “I can’t even imagine how tall it is.”
Spock, who walked beside him, replied, “82 feet.”
Jim looked at him. “You know that from looking at it?”
“Negative. The brochure I was handed upon entering the area.”
Jim laughed. “Oh. Well if you’re going to read.”
Spock shrugged slightly. “It is an interesting tradition.”
“I figured we had to take a look while we were here anyway.” Jim glanced around at the crowd, and then moved closer to the ice skaters.
“Do you skate?”
“Nah. I mean I think I sorta remember my Gram taking me once when I was young. Just a kid. Little. Had to be as she died when I was eight or so. It wasn’t something I fell in love with.” He smiled at Spock. “I’m guessing they didn’t have much ice skating on Vulcan.”
“Certainly not.”
He put his hand on Spock’s arm. “I guess we should continue. This isn’t helping us locate Bones.”
“No,” Spock agreed. Then he covered Jim’s hand with his. “But we can linger here for a moment longer.”
“Yeah?” Jim moved his other hand to grasp Spock’s. They both wore gloves but somehow he could feel the warmth, the promise there.
Spock’s dark eyes warmed. “Yes, it is…nice here.”
Jim agreed and moved closer to Spock. They still had a lot to deal with, sure, but for the moment, he felt happy and at peace.

A stolen moment in time. Literally. That last line said it all. Happy sigh.

Yes very much a stolen moment, a gentle pause in a fraught mission 🎄

If you’re going to read. LOL Very sweet.
I’ve never seen it, never will. But I always wished I could. But I hate the NE in the winter – especially with sunset at like 4:30pm. I don’t see how anyone handles that!

I have never seen the tree either and never will. I have seen Rockefeller Center in the summer lol
Yeah M’s sister lives in North Dakota and it’s the same there. Actually kinda dark by 4 there in the winter and right now blizzards and 4 below. No thanks!
But yes I agree, the idea of this is sweet 🙂 🎄

Great flash. Love seeing Jim and Spock sharing a romantic moment, while in a very difficult situation! ❤️💚❤️💚🎄
When I was growing up I always thought this episode was set in Chicago. I swear I read it in a book. Maybe in the James Blish novelization? I don’t know!! 🤷🏻♀️
I currently live an hour north of the NYC border. Google says it would be 1 hour and 21 minutes to reach the tree right now.
I’ve seen the tree many times. Very spectacular! I’ve seen the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree many years ago when it wasn’t such a huge production with lots of crowds. Don’t misunderstand, there were still crowds, but at least you could see the tree being lit from where you were standing. Now you have to get their way ahead of the tree lighting and stand in the cold snd maybe not even see the tree from where you’re standing as it gets lit up. Not my cup of tea. 🥶❄️❄️
I live in the NE And I truly hate the winter weather and the darkness. Not as bad as Ireland however. One year I went to my cousin’s wedding in Ireland, in November. The sun was rising around 9 AM and setting around 3 PM and cold /damp that would cut right through you. Nope! Too depressing for me!!!
I’m feeling better after Covid. It was all just like a sinus cold… Luckily for me and thanks to the vaccine and boosters. But now I’m super way behind. Tree not decorated! Christmas cards not written, my Address book missing, Gift cards for my
Family (since the kids are impossible to buy for !) not yet purchased. Only day off I have before Saturday this week is tomorrow! Yikes!! Sigh! I’m supposed to be off Saturday night and Sunday night. But the scheduler is begging me to work Sunday night which is Christmas night. And I was feeling lucky because I actually had both nights off because it was my weekend to be off and I did not sign up to work the holiday. The holiday for the Night Shift is the night of the 24th! I have not said yes yet. But I have a feeling she’s going to wear me down and I’ll work Sunday night. );
❤️💚😘🖖

Glad you are feeling better and don’t let her wear you down!
When I went to Ireland it was May so we had the opposite experience. It was light out until 11 at night and I LOVED it there. One of my favorite places ever. To each their own of course 🙂
Edited to add: Here’s how you do it, I’m very sorry but I’ve made plans I cannot cancel, so I can’t work that night

I actually have Friday and Monday off. We got Monday as Christmas is a Sunday this year and I asked for Friday off. Same for the following week. Off 30th and 2nd. I definitely will not complain. And I finished my shopping and wrapping. Still have to finish Love and Joy though. I have every day this week written and scheduled though 😀
