“Want to go for a run?”
“A…what?”
Jim smiled. “A run. You know. Put on shorts and tees and run.”
Spock stared at him. “Tees?”
“T-shirts.” Jim laughed. “We’re, you know, on leave. For three months.” He patted his stomach. “Don’t want to get too fat.”
“It is quite hot today.”
“It’s summer, of course it’s hot. But when we come back to the apartment we can take a long shower together.” He waggled his eyebrows. “And eat cake and cookies on the couch while gazing into each other’s eyes.”
“I do not understand.”
“What don’t you understand?”
“Why we would eat cake and cookies after running.”
He laughed again as he went into his dresser for his shorts and T-shirt. “If you eat them before you feel sick and barf.”
Spock hesitated. “That is logically sound, but I meant…”
“You coming, babe, or am I running by myself?”
His Vulcan sighed. “I will come.”
Jim kissed him. “Good. Love you.”
Spock gave him a look which only made Jim laugh more.
“I’ll get us handbands to keep our hair off our skin and stuff. And cooling towels around our necks.”
Spock muttered something about stupid humans Jim was sure, but Spock was joining him, so Jim considered that a win.

Heck, WE don’t know how Spock let his beard grow when he was younger and disappearing for days/weeks at a time in the mountains outside Shi’Kahr (as Sarek told Picard). This might fit perfectly!

I love Jim’s logic about the cookies. They are so adorable, Jim just plunges on, seemingly oblivious to Spock’s counterarguments, and Spock halfheartedly gives said arguments, but knows he’s going to do whatever Jim wants anyway.
When it’s so hot that you have to leave your tee at home when you go running, than it’s too hot to go running. Although, it makes for pretty pictures. 🙂

I’ve been out of touch this week. I certainly have some catching up to do with your story on ao3. My husband and I went down to my 22 year old in Brooklyn last Sunday, to drop off boxes for her move out of her apartment on Friday. However, she was having terrible abdominal pain, so long story short, I ended up staying with her, without an overnight bag. Two ER visits to two different Brooklyn hospitals with an admission overnight to one and a GI specialist In Manhattan, diagnosis gastritis, but still in the same amount of pain. Sorry for the run-on sentences. She’s spending the next three weeks with us before her move-in day to her new place and seeing a pain specialist virtually later this week. Hopefully, all with a good outcome. 🤞🙏
