I’ve decided to stick with themes for the rest of the months of the year. For example this month is Christmas in July.
For August it will be summer related flashes, with a few minor exceptions because I have already written them and scheduled them.
When I was growing up we always went back to school in September, not like kids do these days, so September will be Starfleet Academy flashes.
October will be Halloween/Harvet themed flashes, nothing too scary, I don’t think.
November will be Autumn and family gatherings, thankfulness.D
For December I was toying with what to do. Sure I could do the 25 Days thing again with songs but I was afraid I might be repeating some of the same stuff. So I began to think that instead of a different Spirk couple every day what if I do a chapter each day in December of one holiday romance story. And oddly enough just as I was getting ready to post this idea and ask if everyone was onboard with this, my friend J, who’d been talking about it with me, made this VERY suggestion to me. It’s like she read my mind!
Now I must admit to you now that I find most Hallmark movies a little corny for my tastes, but I will do my best to make a very Spirky type holiday romance for that month.
So there you have it! My plans.
For August, September, October and November I will be sticking with MWF flashes only (unless inspiration hits me and I do an extra)..
Exciting stuff my friends! Or I hope you think so.

How cute of you to think IIIII read YOUR mind…
I’m excited for every M-W-F till December, and Su-Sa all december. It’s gonna be spirk-tacular. (and I KNOW I didn’t read your mind on that one) (cause you just cringed, didn’t you).

(You have 2 extra hours a day, 5 days a week, since you don’t have to commute to work! I mean, why NOT use that extra time writing for us!???)

Well, apparently in Virginia its after labor day b/c Kings Dominion (amusement park) wants people to have more time to go to the park. Also a lot of high schoolers work for them too. Its like a state law that schools gotta start after b/c of the park. I think its being changed soon, though

It’s really because every few years, states up the number of credits needed to graduate. So to meet those requirements, but be able to also keep extraterrestrial…I mean…extracurricular classes and all the PE they keep upping requirements for, they had no choice but to add days, so some states’ schools go later into June, and some start sooner in August. Of course this year, nothing matches anything so who knows.

When I graduated back when we had to kick the dinosaurs out of the way to get in the school doors, we had to have 16 3/4 credits. And I took choir/orch and played percussion when they needed me in band. Now it’s 22 minimum. And now that college costs so very much, there are many classes the HS either has a bus take you to a college for those courses or you take them on our HS campus for minimal cost, so the kids are thrilled to graduate with several college credits under the belts.
Those are the kids that don’t sleep much all year.

Well here they go back in August now, or they did before the pandemic, obviously, but they also get far more time off during the school year than I ever did. They get the whole week of TG, we only got TG and the Friday after, they get three-four weeks off for “winter” break”, we got two weeks max, and they are always getting pupil free days. Of course now…

I just got out of work after a really long night! Had a song in my head all night that I heard on the radio on the way into work. “Chain-smoking Your Love” by Jacob Banks. So I turned it on on YouTube in the car right now. All I can think is it’s a very Ivan Spirky song… very passionate and full of angst!
