Yesterday was Giving Tuesday. I’ve spent so much money lately, I felt like I had to do something. My employer had a giving campaign where they would match your donation, but it had to be one of the “approved charities”. I wanted to give to the LA Mission in Skidrow who feed the homeless and the Ventura County Rescue Mission in my county who do the same. So I donated a dollar each pay period for the next year to each one of them. It’s not a lot but it’s something.
Then I got an email from Amazon saying you could use Alexa (Echo) to donate to Toys for Tots and Amazon would match that donation. So I donated a toy and a recording of Dax Shepard told me I basically donated two toys since Amazon matched. Thank you, Dax.
Anyway, I tell you this not to brag or anything but to bring up a news article I saw this morning that made yours truly cry like a blubbering fool.
Check it out. It’s short.
I have no clue what political party this man belongs to and I don’t care. He’s a fucking fantastic human being. He didn’t have to do this, but he wanted to do something. And God, those people need it.
There is still good out there. And that gives me hope. If only a little

That truly is amazing. What a hero!
And it’s always good to give. Good on you. You said it’s not much, but yours will add to others and it will make a difference. And the kids that get those gifts? Priceless.
It’s a good reminder to give if you can bc people need and it does make a difference. 🙂

What I like is that he gave directly to the people with the need. I get so peeved at FB and other sites who, right after disaster, want to set up links to “encourage” us to give. Yeah, right. I trust FB to tell me what to do with my money and how to help people, with THEIR track record of theft and spying and selling our info and skewing what “trending news” we actually hear about.
I’m a 100% believer in NOT giving to anyone through those big charities, but rather giving directly to the ones who need it, no middle man to take their cut. (Like those heart-tugging, expensive SPCA commercials, when we are all surrounded by animal shelters that desperately need money/help with their many needs for the animals there.) Those reports of huge, business/charities and what a small portion of our donations actually goes to the needy, and how the great majority goes to just support the charity itself, really rankle me. So bravo for this man! My son/the marines take part in Toys for Tots. I’m a big fan! I do appreciate the day when companies match donations. School groups sign up for giving day, too!

That business man is so awesome for giving to the students and staff at the high school.
❤ I hope your toy and the toy Dax (amazon) gives, brings a child happiness this holiday season

Good for you to give. I read the article and it’s nice when people can step forward like that. I have a teacher friend from Magalia, CA, who lost her home and everything in it to the California Camp Fire. Many of her fellow teacher across the U.S. are donating funds to assist her and others.
