So I have today off work, which is always a good thing.

Had a nice weekend. Was alone for most of Saturday, but spent it writing, watching stuff, and playing games. Sunday was a family thing so I was gone most of the day. It wasn’t an emphasis on Easter as we aren’t really religious people but cousins were visiting from another state so we have a get together.

Today I am just chilling though I did get an angst filled chapter of When it Began up.

I got my artist for my T’hy’la Bang story over the weekend. I am excited to see what the artist comes up with. I’ve seen her work and she’s great, though she mostly does TOS. I can’t wait to see the art work she comes up with but she does have until the end of May and of course I can’t share it with anyone anyway! Posting of my story and her artwork won’t be until the last two weeks of June.

This week I will be working on When I Fall in Love, my Cinderella story, and For the First Time in My Life I was Happy.

Movie Reviews 04.2017 Edition

Here are the recent movies I’ve seen and my review of them:

Spoilers ahead

Kong: Skull Island

Man proves how evil they are once again, really. This time in the form of Samuel L. Jackson as a somewhat bloodthirsty colonel. I can see where he’s coming from and I don’t think he’s all bad. It’s sort of ambiguous here. Kong does immediately attack them upon reaching the island and kills several of the men he’s responsible for. Kong has his own reasons, of course, and isn’t the monster Jackson thinks he is. I liked this movie and found most of the characters in it likable. And Tom Hiddleston, who obviously did some bulking up for this role, with his exposed and beautiful biceps was quite the pleasure to ogle I must say.

Beauty and the Beast

Casting in this movie was perfection as far as I was concerned. I was a fan of Jerry Orbach and his roles over the years but I still think Ewan was pretty good as Lumiere. And I adore Ian Mckellan in whatever he does. But Emma Watson was a fantastic Belle and Luke Evans and Josh Gads as Gaston and LeFou were genius. Add the guy who played the beast/prince who is the cartoon prince come to life and…well it was great. There were a couple extra songs that I didn’t really think added much but for the most part, it deserves the success it’s been having in the box office and I think if you enjoyed the Disney animated movie, you will quite enjoy this.

The Siege

This is an old movie from the late 1990s with Denzel Washington, Annette Benning and Bruce Willis. We saw it as a Netflix movie. I have to say I thought it was really well done and seemed very appropriate to our current times as it deals with terrorist attacks and bigotry toward those of the Muslim faith. Denzel is great in anything he does and the other two are no slouches either. Plus they were about 20 years younger than they are now and were pretty easy on the eyes. There’s a part where Muslims are rounded up and forced to stay in Yankee stadium in NY as part of martial law that I think isn’t all that far off from reality at this point. A striking movie, considering it all happened before 09/11.

Arrival

I’d heard good things about this one and finally got a chance to see a DVD copy. Basically Amy Adams is a language expert tapped to talk to aliens who have arrived in Montana. Along the way she sees visions of her daughter who died of a disease. She works closely with a scientist played by Jeremy Renner. I was frankly pretty bored. I think the other two who watched it with me were a little more interested in it than I was, but I found it kind of slow, to be honest, and not the amazing movie all the commercials led you to believe. I think it was nominated for some awards too, though I don’t think it won. The so-called shocking ending wasn’t a shock at all. Everyone who watched it with me said they had figured out that’s what the deal was before the ending came. So, um, yeah.

I remember years ago watching The Sixth Sense, and THAT was how to do a shocking ending.

This? Not so much.

So those are my current movie reviews.

Ramblings of the Week, April 10

This weekend was a social horror for me.

I had to do a birthday party for a two year old on Saturday and we were there from 10 to 10 with lots of loud obnoxious people and by the time I was able to go home I was more than done.

Two good things, I helped her color Easter eggs and at one point she stuck her little hand in the green dye because she was tired of trying to pull up the little scoop the egg dye color comes with. Then her little grubby hand was green. Very cute.

The other was one of the guests was fostering kittens and they were tiny, one of them barely two weeks old, and she brought them because they have to be fed every few hours. And they were very cute. Here are two of them on her lap.

One little guy thought he was going to fall and my arm was the nearest thing to grab on to.

Please ignore the ridiculous whiteness of my skin. The mottling too. Please and thank you.

Yesterday was yet another social thing, this one for an adult, but at least it was in a beautiful location. Carpenteria.

I am socialized out. Woke up with a killer headache today as a matter of fact.

Next up on the updating is “What Happened to Spock?” Angst is coming.

Now I just need some serious coffee and alone time. Yes. Alone. Thank you.

I had a great weekend in Morro Bay.

This picture is out the window from where we were wine tasting.

And this one is at night from our balcony hotel room.

Haven’t got anything ready to post yet but will begin to work on the next chapter of Dust to Dust, which has just two chapters left.

Other than that I don’t really have anything to talk about.

I am sure most have seen the ridiculousness that is Zach right now. I wonder if he decided to distract everyone from Chris’ new look. *smh*

Here’s something going around on tumblr! LOL

Mid-Week Ramblings, March 30 Edition

The last couple of days have been difficult for me depression-wise. It’s been a bit crippling. Reading a bunch of crap on the internet that has bugged the crap out of me didn’t help in the least either.

For a while, I was back thinking, fuck this, I am going to delete my account, delete everything, that’ll teach them. Who exactly will it hurt? Me.

A co-worker’s 16 year old nephew died of cancer. Just an innocent boy with hopes and dreams that will never ever have a chance of coming true.

My little tantrum over internet assholes seems pretty insignificant in the face of that.

I wonder, though, why some boy who has a 4.0 grade point average and likes to play video games, doesn’t get to make it past 16 but monsters like Charles Manson linger forever.

I saw Beauty and the Beast this week and quite liked it.

I don’t know what we will see next week but I am sure it will be something.

I finished my Big Bang T’hy’la story yesterday and sent it off to a BETA reader. I don’t really use BETA readers anymore (I used to) but this was a requirement of the challenge so I did. I really like what I wrote and when it finally gets posted in June, I hope you will too.

I don’t know what to post next. I think next on my spreadsheet is Me When I was Young but I am kind of wanting to write the next chapter of You are the Light. It may not get done or posted until Monday though. We will see.

Edited to add: I posted the chapter of Me When I was Young. Just one more to go on this story. I’m ready to conclude it.

In the latest fiasco that is my game playing, for an online game I play on my computer, last Friday, I went to buy diamonds and egg shards (don’t ask, it’s for their spring quest). I decided to buy the most expensive package they were offering that day because I had just gotten paid. Then as I was paying through PAYPAL, it didn’t look like it went through, so I hit it again. You guessed it. I got charged twice, because indeed it did go through. I did get twice the stuff for it but since I had chosen the most expensive package you can imagine I was not pleased. I felt like a complete and utter fool.

I confessed my error last night to the SO. It went okay, considering. But there was some talk of blocking my game. Humph.

My friend, Soup, sent me a picture comparing Chris’ latest bald look (makes face) to Charlie Brown. Hilarious.

I will have a Flash Fic up tomorrow. It’s a little sinister.

Ramblings of the Week, March 27, 2o17

Not much to talk about today. Had a busy weekend of socializing. Kind of wiped out to talk much.

We’re supposed to have our re-org announcement at work on Tuesday so we will see.

Next up for updating status is Who’s the Daddy. Technically it should be my One-Shot Five collection but I haven’t really thought of anything new for that couple yet. So Who’s the Daddy it will be.

Still working on T’hy’la Big Bang story. Finished this week? I hope so.

This weekend coming up I am off to Morro Bay.

MB

That’s about it. Haven’t much to say.

Ramblings of the Week, March 20, 2017

This past weekend was a mixed bag.

maxresdefault

I had intended to work on the Big Bang story but just couldn’t make myself, so nope, not finished yet. Likely I will do some work on it today at lunch.

I did have a relaxing Saturday of doing pretty much nothing so that was nice.

Relax

Sunday I woke up to a notice from AO3 that never went out about a month ago. On February 21, I had updated When It Began, my Tarsus themed story. There was some glitch that day and my notice to subscribers never got sent. I was lucky enough to have a few people notice and comment anyway but many didn’t.  Low and behold on March 19 the notice went out. Thing was I had that on my spreadsheet of what to update next and had already been working on the actual real next chapter. It ended up kind of confusing I think for readers.

troll

I also woke up to a troll comment that basically said Spock and Uhura should get married in the next movie. I frankly didn’t even read the entire thing. But basically theirs is the only “romance” presumably because two men can’t have one. Whatever. Happy Sunday to me. Bigotry lives on folks. And many feel emboldened to be that way these days thanks to the idiot in charge.

CAPAMER

I love Chris Evans by the way. Not as much as Chris Pine, obviously, but  adore Chris Evans. He continually stands up for what is right even while being told repeatedly he needs to keep his mouth shut. Captain America indeed.

Yesterday was a fun day of shopping and dinner otherwise and I did get the next chapter of When it Began up.

I’ve taken Wednesday off the this week basically to break up the monotony of work. Call it a mental health day.

As most of you who read this thing know in January I got sick. It lingered and lingered and lingered. To the point I still had the cough into March. This increased my need for my inhaler by quite a bit. I was literally using it several times a day. Sometimes, admittedly, more than was prescribed, but my chest was wheezy and I was having trouble breathing. Saturday night I found an old inhaler of Symbicort in one of my drawers. I wondered if there was anything left and there was, and I admit, probably unwisely, I sucked down one puff of it. It tasted super nasty and I discarded the old inhaler at once. That night before bed I sucked down albuterol. Don’t know if this is coincidence or not but I woke Sunday with no chesty wheeziness for the first time in weeks. And I have not had to use my inhaler since Saturday night. It feels great, frankly, not to have to reach for it at this point. I doubt the Symbicort is related but I did find it interesting.

I am supposed to work on When I Fall in Love next, my Cinderella story, so you can expect that some time in the next day or so.

Have a good week.

Ramblings of the Week, March 13, 2017

mgid-ao-image-logotv

I intended to take most of last week off of writing stuff to post. I am working on my big bang story, but that’s not going to be posted for sometime.

But then I sort of got the idea for a fic. I didn’t know if I wanted to post it because I am always afraid of people getting Ivan overload and so I initially posted it as “anonymous”. But then I thought a couple of things. One, I should just own it and post it as myself and if people don’t want to read it because they think, oh, God, not again, then so be it, and two, if someone on there cannot stand me, I should be upfront so they don’t get invested in something they aren’t really going to enjoy or want to read.

So, What Happened to Spock, was born. I’ve gotten a comment that I am writing Spock too young for a Vulcan but well…we’ll see.

I’ve read a couple of de-aged fics over the years. One was with Jim where Jim was de-aged after Spock and Uhura got married. He was never with Jim at the point. But they end up raising Jim to adulthood and then Spock and Jim fall in love.

The other was one with Spock where he is separated from Jim until he is a young adult again. Jim gets together with Spock Prime who he is with until Spock Prime’s death. When Spock returns at that point to the Enterprise, Jim is not friendly to a young Spock and keeps very distant until Spock almost dies saving Jim. Then he admits that he does still have feelings for Spock but things are complicated.

I wish I could remember the title or where I read that one. I’ve been trying to google it without success so far.

I’m back from my wine weekend. Had a good time and bought lots of wine. Absolutely stunning weather.

Next up is Forever I Am With You, though I admit I haven’t even started the next chapter. I can’t keep up with all the requests that I update certain fics soon or next so I’ll just go with what I know needs updating. Everything will get that way eventually.

I saw the new trailer for Wonder Woman and good Lord, Chris is hot. It’s ridiculous really. She’s hot too by the way.

It’s been in the 80’s the last several days now so spring has officially arrived here. I’m not terribly sorry to see the rain go but it left some beautiful green hills in its wake.

Mid-Week Ramblings

As I indicated in my latest update on AOS, Young and Beautiful, I am taking a bit of a break from posting.

I’ll be around Wednesday and Thursday, but will be working on something else for those days, and then I will be off on my wine tasting weekend in Paso Robles Friday-Sunday. Probably won’t have written anything to post until Tuesday of next week.

I think next up on the spreadsheet is Forever I am With You, so likely that is what I will update some time next week.

And speaking of upcoming vacations, as I think I have said, we are going to Yellowstone Park in June. Well next January looks like we are off on another Caribbean Cruise. The last one was fun and this time a group of us are going and we are getting rooms with Balconies and special spa access and privileges. I think most of the destinations are places we’ve been to but there is one we haven’t which is Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic.

In the meantime, myself and the great grand M are going to Morro Bay for the weekend of April 01. I cannot wait. We have a balcony room with a view of the ocean and bay. This is a favorite getaway of ours.

Last night we went to see Get Out and it turned out to be a pretty decent movie. I thought it was going to be horror but it was more a thriller where you ended up thinking, what is with these weirdos? I think next Tuesday (Tuesdays are cheap here so that’s why we go) we will probably see Logan. We usually wait until the following week to see popular movies until the crowds get a little thinner. Except Star Trek. I must see that right away always.

Speaking of, it seems like they are going ahead with Star Trek 4. I have mixed feelings about this. Of course I want to see Pinto in it and everyone else and the idea of having Jim’s daddy in the form of Chris Hemsworth is an intriguing one. But I don’t want to see more of the Spock/Uhura crap and I know I will and I just don’t want to go there yet again. Everyone but JJ Abrams agrees it’s a stupid, ridiculous plot point. It even made watchmojos list on youbtube of pointless romances in movies.

So yeah, I love Star Trek and I want to see them make more, especially since so many were convinced that Beyond was too much of a failure to make another, and I like to say, fuck you to all those critics and idiots who think you have to make 900 Million or you aren’t a success, but part of me wishes they would just let it go because I know Spock with Uhura will once more be shoved down our throats.

Well, that’s probably more than I wanted to say, but there you have it.
