Not a whole lot to say this week.

I got my raise and bonus information at work today. Naturally not as much as I would have liked but that seems to be the way of things. There’s talk of layoffs so I hope I survive that.

I’m about half done with my T’hy’la Big Bang story and we had our first check-in over the weekend. I’m not supposed to say much about it, if anything, but I think I am okay to say I am involved.

I’m going away for the wine tasting weekend I think I mentioned earlier so there won’t be any updates from me on AO3 or otherwise Friday-Sunday. I will be skipping Flash Fic Friday this week, too, but you can expect it back March 17th.

I updated Dating a Vulcan today, which was next in line. I haven’t really looked at my spreadsheet to see what comes after that, but once I do I will try to get the next update up before I leave Friday. Since I also have other stuff to write on the side we shall see if it gets done.

April is going to be a super busy month for me so regular posting may suffer. We will see. I’ve got a little getaway at the beginning, a birthday party for a two year old, Cousins visiting, other birthdays, it’s really a mess of a month, honestly.

So that’s the current scoop from me.

Scaredy Cat

Currently they are repainting the outside of the building our townhome is in I forget when they painted it last but they are painting it again. This time white with gray trim. Seems like it would get dirty fast.

They started yesterday.

During this process they tape up all your windows. We have a skylight too so that got taped too. Then they use some sort of power paint sprayer. I’m guessing it’s loud. And I am also guessing there are several men working at once because the buildings are large and they got quite a bit done in one day. Men when they are working outside tend to be loud and yell back and forth to each other. Probably stomped on the roof too.

We returned home from work yesterday to find the cats hiding. Surprisingly Luna was the braver one this time and she came out to eat and see us. Luna is a huge huge coward. Crazy aka Trixie is usually the brave one. Not this time. She was hiding under the bed in the guest room. She wouldn’t even come out for her afternoon feeding.

We left to go to dinner and when we returned they both seemed okay. Crazy was out and had her before bedtime meal. She did keep staring at the plastic stuck to the windows.

This morning before we left for work, she was back under the bed, even though the men don’t start work until around 8 and we left just after 6. She wouldn’t come for breakfast.Luna ate hers. Now you know why Luna is chubby.

Anyone who knows about cats know that they got that Scaredy  Cat rep for a reason. I expect the men to be here the rest of the week, so poor Crazy is going to give herself a little kitty heart attack.

Ramblings of the Week, February 27, 2017

I sometimes get to the point where I think…why bother? Each day or sometimes every other day, I work to create something to post on a fanfiction site for like-minded people to enjoy and I get a few kudos and/or comments and all seems well. Or wellish. And then I lose a subscriber. And then I lose another subscriber. And a bookmark. And yet another subscriber.

And I am left wondering what have I done wrong now?

The good news for me this last week is that Chris shaved. Yay! tumblr_olvmiijcp31spvhnko1_500

Alas Zach did not.

Chris could use a haircut though.

I was really hoping Viggo Mortenson would win the Academy Award for best actor but it was not meant to be. I didn’t watch the awards but I was rooting for him.

What is this? Week bazillion of my cough? Sure feels like it. It’s not as bad (in spite of M would say) but damn how long does it have to go on? I’m wheezy all the time too. Maddening.

In two weeks I am off for the weekend to go wine tasting in Paso Robles.

oaks

That is where we are staying. I forget how many wineries are in the area. Like 22 plus or something. Anyway it will be fun, I think. March 10-12.

My cats are more popular than I am. I get more likes when I post pictures of the furballs. Go figure.

I pretty much didn’t do anything this weekend. I went to the grocery store for about 30 minutes on Saturday, but otherwise I never left my house.

I was so sad to hear about Bill Paxton passing on. I loved him in so many things. My favorite roles for him were in Aliens, Apollo 13 and Tombstone. All movies I own.

What a great actor he was and as I understand it, a great human being. I’m sad.

Ramblings of the Week, Feb 20, 2017

Yesterday was not an easy day for me, internet/social media-wise. It was painful and a bit humiliating. I made some mistakes and I regret those, but I am moving onward. I won’t go into any further details on here both for my own sake and anyone else involved. There’s no need to go through it.

With that in mind, today is a normal post day for me here. A post of the week.

Last week as we were leaving our house, we saw this weird light in the sky. Turns out we weren’t alone

mysterylights

The Navy, of course, claimed it was missile testing. We personally think it was aliens beaming up humans for experiments.

Bless him, he always tries. These ended up in my lunch last week

veggies

No, I didn’t eat them.

Friday of last week was a scary day for us weather-wise. Sinkholes, people being submerged in their cars, flooded freeways, collapsing roads, power lines landing on people. Not good. I left my building at work at 3:30 and had to seriously struggle to stay upright. The wind was hurricane strength. I white-knuckled it the whole way home but we made it, thankfully.

Today is President’s Day. I don’t have it off but he does and it was rainy and drizzly this morning. He drove me to work. Pretty nice. Our garage door is old and made of wood and when it rains it gets too heavy to open so pretty much my car was trapped in there all weekend anyway. I can’t wait for the sun.

I didn’t have a good night’s sleep because I was super wheezy all day yesterday and especially at night. I’ve been relying far too much on my inhaler lately and that’s concerning me because really asthma medicine is bad for you. There was a recent study out of Canada that said asthma is misdiagnosed a lot. Well, since I was diagnosed by a pulmonary specialist and have had breathing tests and treatments for years I am going to have to believe I wasn’t misdiagnosed. I was once tested that my lung capacity was at 40%. It’s better now obviously.

And I think that’s plenty for my ramblings this Monday.

Is it Only Wednesday?

I’m making great progress on my super-secret T’hy’la Big Bang story and I am absolutely loving what I’ve done so far. I can’t give any more details than that.

Today is about 80 degrees here and I am kind of roasting. But by Friday we are supposed to be raining again. It’s a little nuts.

Makes you want one of these.

shirtless2

This has been an unproductive week so far at work as we are having major systems issues.

My cough continues to linger which is no fun.

Anybody else get these random followers who seem to make no sense? Maybe it’s a “bot”.

That’s about the news on my end. I will have a flash fic on Friday, exclusive to the blog.

I think I am finally on the mend from my illness. I manage to sleep through the night without waking up with an absurd amount of coughing. I wouldn’t call myself 100%, probably more like 80% but it’s so much better.

I posted the first chapter of my Cinderella Spirk story, When I Fall in Love. I had thought of having this story be the one for the T’hy’la Big Bang and I discovered as I sat down to write it that it just wasn’t going to work for that. The minimum word count for that is 10,000 and I think I intend to keep my entry to about that. So never fear, I am sure I will come up with something for that.

The reaction to my short Valentine’s story, The Rose, has been mostly positive on AO3 (I did have one person think that Jim was cruel to Bones, but you know life isn’t always roses and wine and everything fine).

I am currently working on the next chapter of Young and Beautiful. I don’t actually think it was next in my spreadsheet, but I just felt like working on it.

I have been playing this silly game on my phone and right now they have a special game going where you can get a special pink fish for Valentine’s Day. Well, as most of those games do, they want you to spend money on their “free game” and last night I went a little nuts (it happens) and spent $50 on extras for the game just to get through the extra game to get the special pink fish. After I got her I just went, what the hell did I just do? I confessed my sins to my SO who was aghast to say the least. Ugh LOL.

Remembering Apollo

When I was much younger, I loved the show Battlestar Gallactica. Not the remake that came on years later but the original with Lorne Greene, Richard Hatch, and Dirk Benedict.

RICHARD HATCH

My favorite was not Dirk Benedict’s hotshot, Starbuck (the character was changed to a woman in the remake), but Richard Hatch’s Apollo. His epic romance with Serena (Jane Seymour) was one of my first introductions to such a love. When Serena died in his arms and Apollo cried, so did I. He took on the care of Serena’s son, Boxey, for the rest of the series, too.

In 2014, at my first Star Trek convention, I thought it was pretty cool when I saw Richard Hatch at a table in the vendor’s room. The actor who played Boomer, Herbert Jefferson Jr, was there too.(I think they made Boomer a female too in the reboot). Richard was very friendly and welcoming to fans there. And he still looked pretty good for a man who was in his late 60s at the time.

Richard Hatch died yesterday at the age of 71 of pancreatic cancer.  But I will always remember him for being one of my original heroes, Captain Apollo.

Rest in Peace.

I finally updated Who’s the Daddy . Had to delete a comment when she told me to “chillax”. I’ve seriously had it with the people commenting on that fiction.

In more positive news, myself and five friends are seeing Adam Lambert + Queen at the Hollywood Bowl at the end of June. We bought the tickets this past weekend. We are sitting up pretty high but are pleased to be seeing it  and the Bowl is an iconic outdoor venue.

Yes, I am still sick. And I am fucking sad about it.
