I’ve got nothing else, really. I am working at work for now. Most of the building is working from home. Not me. And that’s fine.
The news and the situations are constantly changing. So…I guess all I can say is stay safe.
There are three flashes in a row this week as there’s one on Thursday for Kris’ birthday.
I am working on another song one-shot but have barely started. I’m going to continue to work on my bang story too but it may be canceled or I may withdraw and just post it on my own. We will see.
Anyway, this too shall pass. I hope.
Stay say and well, my friends. I promise to keep posting Spirk and other stuff as time allows.
Here I am at work today. No indication whatsoever we will shut down (unless the president tells us to, I just don’t see it). It’s raining. We are trying to act normal as we can and laughing at the absurdity of the human race.
I went shopping at the grocery store Friday at work and was stunned at the mob scene I witnessed. The poor workers had to stay beyond their shifts to handle the madness. I have never seen anything like it. There’s a scene in the movie, Contagion, where something like that happened, and I felt like I was in some apocalyptic movie myself. I went yesterday afternoon and things were a lot calmer but they were still out of a lot of stuff like bread, paper products, cleaning stuff, and packaged foods like macaroni and cheese.
At least being at work, I was able to send my Bang story home, just in case. You never know. My office is in LA and the mayor here has shut down anything fun for the next two weeks, so, it’s best to be prepared for anything I guess.
Even my WW meetings are canceled for 3 weeks.
Anyway, I should have some time to write stuff since life is crazy. Maybe catch up on stuff at home. These are very strange times.
With the governor of California closing bars and making the strong recommendation that restaurants only do curbside service, my trip to Morro Bay has officially been canceled.
I am devastated to be honest.
Not sure what will happen in the days to come. I forgot to send my Bang story home to myself Friday, but I expect to be at work tomorrow and I will do so then. If anything changes…well…know knows. Everything is is canceled, maybe that will be too.
If you are staying home because, well, you know why… I thought I’d give you some ideas for Spirk fan fiction to keep you occupied!
Some of these are my own stories and some are not…obviously. I will stick with completed works out of mercy.
The one that started it all…The Bond Between Them. See where I started and perhaps learn how far I’ve come. Or not. LOL
In the mood for my longest work? Going Boldly is it.
Antigravity (by Sinestrated) among the first ones I read.
The Broken Road (also by Sinestrated) fun fact (also known as the one that got away) Sinestrated wrote a story where Jim had supernatural powers, but she only got to chapter 6 before she decided not to write anymore and deleted it. I loved that story and it was the inspiration for my own supernatural Jim story, The Mysterious One
This one is super super tough to read, not going to lie. Angst times 100. But also quite excellent. You have to have an account to read it. The ending is…happyish? Sorta. There is love. To the Victor by Obsidienne.
Lessons of Love by me. Still my most popular story. Don’t know why. It just is.
The Finer Things. Also by me. Interestingly enough there is an illness in this story that affects the crew including Jim. I particularly loved the title of this and how I tie it in.
Shine Like the Sun by Kyleselle. Not sure this one is available anywhere online these days as it was on LiveJournal. But I have a PDF copy for anyone who wants to email me ivantheterrrible85@gmail.com for it. Probably my all time favorite non-me Spirk, LOL.
Taste Test by noodleinabarrel. Too cute for words. Spock has a sweet tooth.
Susceptible by EntreNous. Hurt/Comfort, Jim is sick and grumpy
“What are you going to do?” Bones asked, standing beside him.
Jim stared down at Spock, lying in the biobed, currently aware of…nothing he supposed. He moistened his lips. “Stay by his side and pray for a miracle.”
Bones put his hand on his shoulder. “Scotty’s on the bridge. You’re not needed right now. If that changes, he’ll let you know.”
Jim nodded, swallowed hard. “Thanks, Bones.”
“He’s in the healing trance.”
“I know. I feel him.”
He stepped to the bed and took Spock’s hand. “Come back to me.”
“What are you going to do now?” Nyota asked him as they both watched their unconscious captain breathe as machines all around him beeped and blurped.
“Same as I always do,” Spock replied. “Forgive him, save him, sacrifice for him, advise him, stand up for him and to him, stand by his side no matter what, believe in him, take him in every way that he will allow me, as always.”
She nodded. Squeezed his arm. “We’ll mind the ship. As we always do.”
Spock appreciated it as she moved away and he moved closer to his T’hy’la.
Above is the view from my window at work today. Rainy day. Suppose to rain all day.
I think we were supposed to start up seeing a movie again this week but I think we will postpone it a bit longer. Not especially concerned about movie theaters or anything, but I’m feeling rather lazy and it’s so much easier to just go home and veg after work. Plus there’s not much out right now anyway.
Still planning on going to Morro Bay the weekend of the 21-24. It’s not a large gathering nor at an airport, besides which I think much of this thing about the virus is way over blown. People are beating each other up over toilet paper. The world is nuts. Anyway, my plan is still on unless the whole state decides to quarantine like Italy has. Plus I don’t quite qualify for the “older people” they talk about on the news and CDC sites.
Fortunately my mother stopped attending church a couple years back because she was just too frail to make the effort to get up Sunday mornings and get ready. She watches mass from the television now. She really is of the age you have to be careful. Even of the flu. She’s been in the hospital before with pneumonia.
In other news, well, I am, um, still working on the Bang story. I’m up to about 3,000 words and have to have at least 6,000 by the end of the month. And then I am supposed to have like 75% done by the middle of April or some such. So…yeah. Not sure. Either way you get a story out of me.
The next two flashes are very very short, so I apologize in advance.
Other than that, I have not much to share. Still fighting Macy’s. Ongoing. I think I did get my bank account straightened out. So that’s something. And I get a bonus this week, so that’s something too.
I’m looking forward to the weekend. I have no plans. And that is good.
An old Farmers Insurance Building in our City is being torn down to be replaced by mixed use stuff (apartments, park, restaurants, etc…)Was vacant for years but still dramatic.More- the building is from yesterday by our TargetCloverVery gloom day for March. Seemed more like a December day or something. About to have a week of stormy weather, probably the last of whatever we’re going to get but cool and gloomyThis truck has seen better days!
