Flash Fics for the Rest of 2018

I’ve now written and scheduled all my flash fics/one-shots for the rest of 2018. Basically they will be published here on Fridays and then in My One-Shot Collection on AO3 on the weekends. I’ll be continuing the Flash Fics in 2019 so if there’s something you’d be interested in seeing in 2019 please let me know in the comments (no guarantees though). I will be doing a Pinto one already, probably in January, as requested.

Here’s what’s coming this year:

Friday, November 30 – Home, a Holiday spent on New Vulcan

Friday, December 07 – Stuck With Me, Jim is dying on a planet, what can Spock do to save him?

Friday, December 14 – Trashing the Tree, a Starfleet Academy meeting between Cadet Kirk and Professor Spock

Friday, December 21 – Mirror Christmas, a visit with Mirror Spock and Kirk from Going Boldly.

Friday, December 28 – Wonderful Life, Jim learns what would have happened if he’d never been born.

Hope you will enjoy! I can’t wait for you to read them.

Just some Updates and Cat talk

The Hike is done. Yippie! Hope you like it.

Now I can turn to The Sight when I feel like it. Not sure when that will be as I’m doing some reading at present. But it will come in due time, no worries there.

Most of you know Crazy the cat. I got her, well, I don’t know five or six years ago now? Got her in January that year and she’d been born in November I think and Luna in October. Anyway…the point is, I’ve had her a while.

She’s got her issues. She has breathing problems and eats her own fur (she’s nicknamed Crazy for a reason). All these years we’d been feeding her mostly Fancy Feast wet food and broths. They get fed 3 times a day. They always have dry kibble. Anyhow, she always mostly licked the gravy off and left the rest.

One day recently, our friend mentioned that her elderly cat quite enjoyed the Sheba Perfect Portions Pate food. They come in twin packs. You break one open and feed the whole thing to the booger. Anyway, Luna hates pate food. So she gets Cuts, which they also make. Anyway so we tried the Perfect Portions Pate and now Crazy is crazy for them! HA HA. She gobbles them down each meal like we hadn’t ever fed her anything proper for 5 or 6 years. Animals!

Should be a nice weekend weather wise and birthday dinner wise. Quietish after the recent weekends of busy busy.

The Girls

Since I didn’t get my update for The Love of a Lifetime done, the girls thought they would make an appearance.

I Live on the Sun

Take a look at those temperatures coming up for me on Friday and Saturday. No really. I didn’t fake them. Sunday there is a cooling trend at 100. Now originally I thought about doing some cleaning at the house. Not sure now.IMG_3479

Perhaps I live on Vulcan. What do you think? I think there’s a definite chance I do.

WeVulcan

We had a pretty nice June and a fabulous May but Summer is about to rear it’s hot head at us!

Throw Back Thursday 05/17/2018

On July 18, 2014 I posted my first chapter in My Spirk One-Shot Collection Part 1

Miss Me

“Are you gonna miss me?” Jim asked Spock as they lay in the afterglow of love making. He was covered in a fine sheen of sweat, though Spock didn’t seem particularly sweaty, damn the Vulcan.

“You will be gone three days and only two nights,” Spock replied.

“I’ll miss you.”

Spock did not have a response for that and Jim sighed. His head had been lying on Spock’s chest but now he rose up and lay on his side facing Spock, who still lay on his back.

Jim reached for Spock’s fingers with his and stroked them together. “You won’t miss me?”

“I did not say that.”

“You didn’t say you would either.” Jim sighed. “I wish you were coming with me.”

“Both the captain and the first officer are not required.”

“I know, Spock. It’s just…never mind.”

Spock opened his mouth as though to speak, but Jim feigned a yawn.

“Wow, I’m super tired all of a sudden.” He leaned over and placed a kiss on Spock’s lips. “Night, Spock.” He turned to face away from Spock and closed his eyes, trying not to be disappointed.

****

Jim was dead tired when he beamed on board the Enterprise from the three day meeting he’d had on Starbase 9. God Admirals and dignitaries could talk forever.

He stepped off the transporter pad and managed a weary smile for the chief behind the controls. He was back a couple of hours earlier than originally anticipated, so instead of heading for the bridge, Jim went to his quarters.

A check with the computer indicated Spock was on the bridge, so Jim discarded his clothes and got into the shower. He planned on drinking coffee when he was finished, so he could face the rest of his shift. What he really wanted was about three days straight of sleep, but that wasn’t going to happen.

He wrapped a towel around his waist and exited the bathroom.

Spock stood in his quarters, hands behind his back. For a moment, a fleeting one, Jim was annoyed Spock had entered his quarters without his permission. They had only been…well whatever they were…for a couple of weeks. Spock shouldn’t just think he could enter without asking, should he? But then Jim realized normally he wouldn’t care. He was just still smarting from Spock not telling Jim he would miss him.

“Hey, Spock. Everything okay?” Jim smiled. ”I got back a little early so I figured I had time for a shower.”

But Spock only stared at him.

“Spock?”

Spock moved suddenly, so fast Jim gave a yelp of surprise as he was shoved against the bulkhead. The Vulcan slammed his hands on either side of Jim’s head, trapping Jim there.

“What?” Jim asked, his eyes wide with surprise.

Spock crushed Jim’s lips under his, ferocious and bruising. Jim moaned and threw his arms around Spock’s neck, pressing into the kiss, into Spock.

When Jim finally had to come up for air, he blinked hazily at Spock. “What was that?”

“I missed you.”

“Oh.” Jim smiled. “Oh.”

“Is that all you can say?” Spock asked, his pupils blown wide, as his gaze went to Jim’s swollen lips.

Jim went in for another kiss. “I missed you, too.”

The Dance

Here’s a Spirk Valentine for you a day early.

Valentines-Day-photo

“Did you put your heart in the box?”

Jim paused the glass of rum punch at his lips and eyed his best friend. “Yeah, I put it in there. But I still can’t believe you talked me into this lame ass thing.”

It was a Valentine’s Day dance at the Academy and everyone had been given paper hearts at the door which they were supposed to put in a box with their name on It. Then two hearts would be chosen to dance together during the first dance.

“Couldn’t help it. Was tired of watching you mope around.”

“”I’m not moping.” Jim scowled.

It was way too crowded and he was feeling vaguely claustrophobic. He swore everyone on campus was there. Which meant he’d probably get stuck dancing with someone he was not at all compatible with.

Stupid Bones.

“Hey,” Bones said. “Do you mind?”

“Oh. Sorry. Thought I said that in my head.”

“This is for your own good, Jim” Bones said. “God knows whatever you hoped would happen isn’t going to. What better time to find new love than at a Valentine’s Day function.”

Jim snorted. “Spare me. I am not looking to find love. I’m looking to get drunk and laid or laid and drunk. I don’t care about the order.”

“The heart will help you.”

“You and that heart. It’s a paper doily thing, Bones. It doesn’t hold the fate of the world, you know.”

“It doesn’t have to. It only needs to hold your fate.”

Jim swiped Bones’ drink and sniffed it. “What exactly is this spiked with?”

“Give me that,” Bones grumbled and snatched it back, taking a drink. “You need some more punch?”

“Nah, I need something less sweet with more bite to it.” Jim squeezed Bones’ shoulder as his gaze sought the bar. “I’ll be back shortly.”

****

“Okay.” Nyota rubbed her hands together. “Our hearts have been added to the box.”

Spock froze. “Nyota, I told you I did not wish to participate.”

“I know, but it’s just one dance, Spock. What harm can there be?”

“I was under the impression that I am here to dance with you.”

“Well, there are plenty of opportunities for that,” she replied. “Don’t worry, Spock. It will be fine.”

He almost said fine had variable definitions but he refrained from it. He did not want to stay long. He hoped that the first dance would be over soon, he would dance two dances with Nyota and then he would go home. After all he had papers to grade. And lessons to plan. In his quiet, lonely apartment.

“Spock, they are about to announce the pairings,” Nyota exclaimed excitedly.

“I hope that I am paired with you.”

“Yowza, yowza, yowza,” the announcer said inexplicably. “It’s time to announce the pairings for our Valentine’s Love Dance. The dance where you are sure to find your soulmate.” He paused. “Or maybe not. Maybe just someone to screw tonight.”

The crowd around him laughed though Spock could not imagine why.

As the annoying man rattled off names, Spock stopped listening. Until he heard Nyota’s name. And he was not paired with her. He held back a sigh.

“Commander Spock,” the announcer said.

Spock stiffened. Here it came. He would be paired with some human who would no doubt say exactly the wrong thing and he would be forced to pretend it was not offensive.

“Cadet James Kirk.”

Spock felt the blood drain from his face and his heart begin to hammer in his side. Suddenly, Cadet James Kirk stood in front of him. Without a word, Spock put his hands upon the cadet and took him out to the dance floor. A waltz was expected and for some reason Spock decided it was he who would lead.

Kirk’s gaze met his. “Hi.”

“Hello.”

Kirk licked his lips. “I_I didn’t know you were going to be here.”

Spock nodded. “Nor I you.”

“Spock—”

“Jim—”

The music struck up. And still Spock stared into cerulean eyes.

“I guess we’d better dance,” Kirk said softly.

And so Spock did, moving Kirk in his arms to the strains of the classical waltz music. They spoke no words while the dance continued but as soon as it ended, Spock pulled Kirk from the dance floor and over to the side.

“We have been conspired against.”

Kirk nodded, smiling a little “Looks like.”

“Jim, I—”

“Did you want to get out of here?” Jim interrupted, his voice low. His tongue swept across his bottom lip again.

“My apartment is near,” Spock whispered.

“I know.”

Spock exhaled slowly. “I should apologize—”

“No, it was me—”

Kirk stopped. Laughed. “Let’s just get out of here.” He took Spock’s hands in his and Spock found himself blushing, though he tried not to. Somehow this human made him blush over all others. “I missed you.”

For a moment, Spock was overwhelmed, but he finally nodded. “I missed you too. More than I thought was possible.”

“Yeah?”

“Though it has only been two weeks it seems like an eternity.”

Kirk closed his eyes briefly and then seemed to gather himself before he gifted Spock with one of his dazzling smiles. “Let’s not do that again, okay?”

“I am in full agreement.”

And they walked out of the Valentine’s Day dance without a backward glance, though Spock suspected Nyota and McCoy would know, and they made their way back to Spock’s apartment and his bed.

And afterwards, Kirk sighed as he laid his head on Spock’s bare chest. “That stupid announcer was right.”

“About?”

“During that dance, I found my soulmate and the guy I was going to screw tonight.”

Spock opened his mouth to retort but then Kirk laughed with such warmth and joy that it flowed through Spock like the greatest of gifts. Instead of replying, he drew his beloved’s lips close once more and learned how to kiss him all over again.

100 Words (this one continued from 01/26/18

When all Spock did was stare at him wordlessly over the chess board, Jim knew bitter disappointment and heartache. So, it was true. All his feelings only belonged to him. Spock didn’t feel that way about him. And really, Jim should have known. Spock had broken up with Uhura months ago, right after their return to Yorktown after Altamid. It had seemed they would reconcile, and then they hadn’t.

Jim had hoped. But when nothing came from Spock, he decided to make his declaration. And all Spock did was stare at him open-mouthed, like a fish.

“Forget it.”

Our stateroom. They gave us twin beds for some unknown reason. I think because we were the same sex.

Grand Turk IMG_3232

Our cruise ship next to another in Grand Turk. Ours is the bigger one!

We had pretty rough seas due to some bad storms in the Caribbean. The Captain decided to skip our first port Amber Cove because the waves would be 18 feet high. We ended up having an extra day at sea. It was fun though. An excursion on St Thomas that would have taken us to St John was also canceled due to the waves, so I still didn’t get to St John. Other than that we had a great time. I love both Puerto Rico and Grand Turk. This time we got to do a tour of Grand Turk, which really is a tiny place, and I really liked it. So beautiful and the natives have such an amazing attitude even after the hurricane. They do have an issue with stray starving dogs which made me very sad.

And now I am back and rather tired, but happy for the great time I had.

Kirk_in_a_hospital_gown

If the captain died, then Spock would be captain. He did not want to be captain.

No. That was wrong. Certainly who would be captain if-if…the captain died was not what he should be thinking about.

If Nyota had known what sprung to his mind, she would slap him, and he would deserve it.

If the captain died, then Spock would be…alone. Lost. Have wasted time not revealing to the captain just how much Spock—

But no. The captain would not die. There would be time.

“Spock?”

Spock stood up, barely able to breathe.

“He’ll be all right.”
