I ran out of time or enthusiasm not sure which to get the flash I was working on done for this week, so you get a bit of Kirk family togetherness for Easter.
Happy Easter if you celebrate

“All right, but there’s just no way I’m doing an Easter egg hunt at my age,” Jim told his mom as he squirted egg mixture from a tube into a cooked white for deviled eggs.
She chuckled. “Spoil sport. You know we did have one the year you turned five.”
“I don’t remember that.”
“Most of us don’t remember much at that age. Maybe something fleeting.” She paused to take a sip of her carrot cake flavored coffee.
She’d gone all out on doing Easter when she’d found out they were coming for a visit that coincided with that day. And though they’d never been particularly religious in any way, Jim wanted her to have whatever she wanted to have.
“I didn’t use real eggs. You and Sam did dye some real ones, of course, but I kept those in the fridge. I put out the fake ones filled with goodies. Of course your brother was a little older and thought the whole thing was lame.”
“He’s the one who’s lame.”
She laughed again. “Anyway, it was fun. With me being on assignment most of the time when you kids were young, we didn’t get a lot of chances to have those moments.” Then her smile fell. “And then of course when Frank was around. That asshole didn’t want to do anything but drink.”
“And belch and swear,” Jim added. He didn’t add throw punches. He didn’t need to.
Jim had come back from Frank sending him to Tarsus IV and it was shortly after that that his mom got rid of Frank for good.
His mom held up a deviled egg. “Try it. How is it?”
Jim took a bite, chewed and swallowed. “Good. Really good. I could eat the whole batch.”
“You have to share with me. Spock won’t eat them, right?”
“Nah. More for me.”
“Well, I have other things he can eat. And I made you both Easter baskets.” She blushed a little. “For the morning.”
Jim laughed. “An Easter basket for a Vulcan? That’s hilarious. What’s it got in it?”
“Never mind. You’ll see tomorrow.”
He shook his head. “I might have to sneak a chocolate egg into his.”
“Who says there isn’t already one in there?” she asked with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.
“Mom! I’m shocked.”
“You are not.”
“Well, not really,” he agreed. “But I could be.”
She finished filling the last egg white. “There, those are ready now to be put away until tomorrow.”
Spock appeared at the edge of the kitchen and Jim went to him.
“There you are, babe. Finished with your meditation?”
“Indeed.”
“So, let’s go watch a movie.”
His mom put away the deviled eggs. “What are we watching?”
“What do you want to watch? Not some silly fairytale.”
“No, no,” she said. “How about Predator?”
Jim laughed and hugged her. “Deal.”

The cuteness is exactly what I needed. I love Jim and Winona moments. And I love seeing them relaxed and playful.
Excellent.
