J asked for President’s Day so…
“Happy President’s Day.” Jim sat down hard in the rec room chair across from Spock. He clutched a giant cup of coffee in his hands.
Spock looked at him with no sense of friendliness. “The Federation recognizes no such day.”
“Yeah, I know. But where I come from, what used to be America, well they did. You know Washington and Lincoln. That kind of thing.” At Spock’s barely concealed derision, Jim sighed. “Never mind.”
“Is that all you are having for breakfast?”
Jim glanced down at his coffee. “Mm.”
“That’s not very good nutrition, Captain.”
“Thanks Mom.”
“I am not your mother.”
“No kidding. Or my doctor.”
Spock continued to study him. “You seem tense and a bit pale. Are you feeling all right?”
“A little…out of sorts. Not sure what’s wrong with me. I’m cranky. Crankier than you or Bones, which is saying something.”
“I…am sorry for contributing to your general bad mood. I spoke with my father last night.”
“That explains a lot.” Jim sipped his coffee. “It’s fine, Spock.”
“Is there anything I can do to make you feel better, Captain?”
“Not unless you wanna give me a full body massage,” he joked.
Spock’s eyebrow rose.
“And don’t report me for that, Spock. It was a joke.”
“I am amenable to providing you with a massage.”
Jim had seen some cartoon once where the character wiggled his finger in his ear to establish the joke that he couldn’t believe his ears. Jim did that now.
“Say what? I think I didn’t hear you right.”
“You did. When our shift is over, I’ll come to your quarters.”
“Spock, are you…you’re not…are you coming on to me?” Jim felt foolish even asking that. He figured he’d got it wrong and Spock would tell him.
“Of course I am.”
Jim’s mouth opened.
Spock stood. “Do you accept?”
“Uh.” Jim blinked. “Yeah?”
Spock nodded. “I will be by your quarters with my massage oils after shift.”
After Spock walked away, Jim gasped, “Massage oils?” His day had definitely improved.

Wol THIS is a total surprise!!! I just KNEW there was something in the continuum that woke me up early. And so awesome. I’ve been envious of Jim before, but this might be the #1. Yep, Jim’s day just got uncranky-ized in a hurry!

Having a super bad case of the Mondays today. My husband woke me up early, before he headed to work, as I was off last night and wanted to sleep in late today, to tell me that the furnace wasn’t working and he was going to check the oil level! (Sorry about the run-on sentence!) Apparently we ran out of oil, but that also requires a technician visit to bleed the system and make sure that everything is working. And since it’s Presidents’ Day, they probably have less people working. I don’t know! So they are not sure if I will get an oil delivery today and the technician today or tomorrow. Had to leave a check for them for $589.85 for the oil delivery. Usually I pay with my debit card but my local bank which is also closed today because of Presidents’ Day, is updating its online system. And when I went to pay with a debit card, my husband’s and my debit card got declined, although there’s sufficient funds in there . So going back to old fashioned paper check attached to the front door. Current temperature inside my house is 66°F. It’s not super cold out today, but it’s not exactly summer. Currently outside it’s 49° and sunny. It’s going up to a high of 55 which is actually OK but then tonight it’s going down to the 30s with a chance of snow but no accumulation. We’ve been very lucky with snow. We’ve had no snow accumulation at all the entire winter, except for a dusting once or twice. I’m trying to look at the bright side at least I still have running water and electricity. Shouldn’t talk too soon lol. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
And while I was looking up my oil companies information, an Apple news story popped up. It was talking about Star Trek 4 and recasting Ryker in the reboot in the Kelvin universe under JJ’s guidance. I’m broken hearted 💔about this, to say the least!!!

I don’t know why Jim is cranky, but I certainly do sympathize with him today. Wish I had a Spock coming over to my quarters later. And as I always do, I will ask you the same question… will this have a second part? This is an intriguing start to a relationship between them! Happy President’s Day!
Gonna bury my sorrows in a good happy ending Spirky story today. Any good recommendations??

Ryker???? There’s no Ryker in the AOS universe. Or even a Riker. I am confused!
My sympathies on the heat. My heater has been broken for months and it’s often only 59 degrees in my house. I can see my breath LOL. In our case we have to replace the whole HVAC unit which means upwards of maybe $10,000 (we had that quoted once) so we’ve been putting it off as we really can’t afford that.
Anyhow, hope things get better!

I wouldn’t really be that worried, they are always promising to make something and it never ever happens
edited to add the only thing I could find is rumors in September 2022 that they “might” put some of the Next Gen characters in the AOS Star Trek 4 movie not the entire series BUT again there isn’t going to be a ST4 mark my words. Ain’t gonna happen.
I did see that Patrick Stewart himself said he thought an eventual Next Gen reboot was inevitable, but I don’t really think there’s evidence of that.

HE** I thought that’s what PICARD was!! If that’s what they want, if they can totally add Princess Leia into the final SW nine-olgy (whatever they call that) after Carrie died, they can keep Picard going and just CGI Patrick in. WHY can’t this franchise EVER give us what we REALLY ask for? THEY f***ed up SNW and changed it into the T’Pring show after we begged for just an SNW like TOS, episodes with Pike and Spock and Una. And now this. You’re so right. We haven’t REALLY been able to trust this franchise since Generations.

that being said, I am sure TOS people all felt the same way when the AOS movie was first announced. If you don’t want the franchise to die, well, they gotta do what they gotta do. But I still say baloney

Yeah I knew they were sticking Showtime in there with Paramount. The thing is, Kevin Costner, who was originally the big draw for Yellowstone, is leaving. But given all that, I just don’t see them investing in a lot of Star Trek MOVIES if any. Alas, I’d go with your idea of an AOS series but I just don’t think the guys will go for that. Quinto maybe as he’s done series television but Pine, I don’t see it. Missed opportunities

If they’re doing this, I wonder if it means, as said, the opening for the next TNG movie. OR that ST 5 will be all TNG characters and leave out Pine/Quinto? I freakin’ HATE Abrams. Have for 14 years now. I loved him before ST 2009 came into being. BUT as Ivan says, we’ve been told about 8 different things for a ST 4 after 2016. Having a time travel thing with George is starting to look better and better. 😥

Who knows. I just don’t believe any of it. They still had that director’s name attached in an article from 2 days ago and he had already abandoned ship, so to speak a while back, it’s all nonsense and specualtion. It’ll never happen

Especially when the obvious answer to ALL their problems is staring them in the face. Now that Chris has directing chops. And so does Zach, let one or both of them direct ST4 – just like Shat did 5 and Nimoy did 3 and 4. Chris and Zach AREN’T going to accept the job as director and then drop it like the other 2,975 announced directors who accepted and then walked away did. But nooOOOOOOoooo. This franchise. I don’t see how they function at all. They choose the most expensive way to do everything. And then CBS/VIACOM/Paramount keeps their investors scared to death as they run in the red all the time since they merged back into one company, the way they started. What has happened with them? Because they’re as opposite a good business model and running a business financially solvent as they could be.

Just for the record though, I love the idea of Cavill for a reboot Riker.
I wish the franchise would put all the new stuff on at least a Paramount cable channel. That way they get money – but more people – a MUCH larger audience of viewers. I mean, Paramount+ is very inexpensive so they can’t make much more ONLY have a few people watch on P+ as opposed to cable/satellite. A LOT of people are still using cable service.

Yeah the thing of it all with that article Evening found is it’s all “speculation”. They are the ones putting Henry out there as an idea. And the Gal mention? You google either of them and there is NOTHING about Star Trek.
That article also says: “Star Trek 4 has seemed to be dead in the water, as no concrete updates on production had been announced for years. That is, until recently, when the film’s former director, Matt Shakman, announced that the film was still happening.” read the first part ‘dead in the water’. That’s your big clue. I think And why would Shakman, who is the “former” director that never happened know anything about whether it’s “still happening”, That’s why I think it’s all clickbait by a scif geek site that wants to generate hits

And the furnace technician came… it’s not the oil level, although that’s low. He bleed oil out of the system and it turned on again.
He told me to keep the heat low as I waited for a delivery. But then I noticed water on the floor in the bathroom next to the furnace. Turns out there is a leak from an open-ended copper pipe that leads from the back of the furnace. So I had to put a bucket under it and turn the furnace off again. Awaiting a different technician, because the original technician is now too far away. The original tech said it could be a faulty hot water tank or the coil inside my 36 year old furnace!! If it’s the coil, I’d need a new furnace. I’m so freakin’ stressed! 😢😩😫
