It’s been a while so I thought I’d get some pictures up of May here in So Cal. How long will this last considering we are on mega water restrictions? Who knows.
In other news, I am going to be working a lot of Over Time at work on a project for a few months so that’s going to cut even more into my writing. Sorry to say.
Someone commented recently about me working on Spirk fic on AO3 for pretty much a decade, which is close to true (9 years in August) and though they were complimentary it also got me thinking. How long is too long? I don’t know.

I don’t think anything is too long if it makes you happy and you have fun. When you stop enjoying it, that’s when you take a step back and away.
If one day the bug returns and you start again then that’s fine, same if it never does. I wouldn’t worry if it’s been too long, just how you feel about it.
I love your writing, it’s so original and fun. You’ve taken two characters that are pretty much 2D in personality in the films and imbued them with so many characteristics that you made them your own and somehow you never seem to repeat a story or make it seem predictable. I think that’s because you enjoy it and it’s not a chore. That’s an insane level of skill there!
You made me de-lurk again – stop doing that!!! 😉

Oh the beautiful blue sky and the blooming trees! So nice. Even if the jacarandas are dropping their flowers everywhere.
And at least the roofers have moved on from your place!
OT is such a mixed bag. Yay extra pay. Boo on the extra hours. Hopefully it’s an interesting project at least.

Yes no roofers by me but I’m guessing they will be working well into June

So pretty.
And yeah I never understand how a state can be right by the ocean and yet not have rain all the time. Weather is just beyond my comprehension.
But our southern tip is the same. Desert. And yet right by the Gulf. They sometimes get hurricane effects, and they have high humidity. But not rain.
I think there IS no too long. Spirk is almost 56 years old. And still ever new, added individuals are drawn to dream and write about them.
Remember Forrest Gump? How he ran and he ran and he ran. For 3 years, 2 months, 14 days, and 16 hours. And then – it hit him. I’m done. And he went home.
In Throw Momma From the Train, his motto was “A writer writes….always.”
So as long as you keep having ideas and enjoy writing, that’s how long you write. Till the end of your life. Till the end of the week.
You have no need to place an arbitrary time limit on yourself. You’ll know. And just like in everything else. You’ll think you know, and the next week a new idea will hit you – and you can’t NOT write.
That’s how I personally think it goes. But the one thing of which I’m absolutely sure. There does not even exist a “too long.” There’s just the writer and their brain and their creativity.

Yes I suppose so, a writer does. It might get harder with time limits but I’ll try
If you listen to everyone it’s never gonna rain again but we will see, It’s been like this my whole life, we’re in a drought, we’re not anymore, we’re in a drought, etc. But apparently this is the worst one yet. So we will see

Same here. We have 14″ rain in the month of May. The next year, fires everywhere and no rain – and it’s the “worst” it’s ever been. Then 12″ rain the next year and they don’t say a word. If it bleeds, it leads. The media are a bunch of vultures, circling to find dying things. Vultures don’t care about the good, the living, the happy.

And yet – I read one report of excuse why nobody is limiting SWIMMING POOLS there. They black out lied and said – oh swimming pools don’t really use much water at all. WHAT?????????? They evaporate and refill constantly! Nothing inside in your appliances or anything uses anywhere NEAR as much water as a swimming pools. And LA is FULL of pools.

Actually my sister has a pool and it doesn’t evaporate that much, she fills it about a foot a week and that’s the amount allowed in the restrictions so yeah it IS being restricted.

A foot a week isn’t bad. Except depending on the dimensions of the pool, multiplied by literally hundreds and hundreds (maybe thousands) of swimming pools in LA alone. That makes me believe the drought isn’t as bad as they fear monger.

It also depends on where you are in the state and from which agency gets their water, LA gets theirs from a different source than
my city, they are allowed to water 2 times a week and we are only allowed to water 1 for instance, Palm Springs claims they have plenty of water (and talk about pools) but yeah it’s a lot of fear mongering for sure

Is it true it’s also a problem that since the Hoover Dam was built to water CA, a lot of the water is being sold elsewhere instead of to you guys now? And THAT is the main problem?

I’m not sure about that I know when you look up the history of the dam this is what it says
Hoover Dam was constructed for multiple reasons. For one, it was built in an effort to help control flooding of the Colorado River as it snaked through the southwest on its way to the Gulf of California.
Also, as the west opened up and more people settled there, the need for water increased. The dam was engineered to help divert water to areas the river otherwise passed. Lastly, of course, the dam was constructed to provide hydroelectric power to millions of nearby residents—and still does to this day! Hoover Dam has been creating hydroelectric power since 1936.

Love the beautiful flowers and flowering trees! I especially love the jacaranda trees, with the pools of purple petals underneath them. People with them must have to rake up underneath, like autumn leaves here! Lovely blue skies as well.
Cute front area as well. Looks like a mini rose plant? I have a tiny rose plant inside my kitchen. Only grows leaves.
Hopefully your work project is interesting, not too demanding and lucrative for you!
I think that I speak for everyone here… I love reading you stories and would miss them if you stopped. 😦 ); Just don’t put pressure on yourself for reaching writing deadlines!
Sending hugs to you !!!❤️💚😝🖖

Yeah I will be honest, I don’t want to work over time. At all. But if I said no, I’d be the one who looks bad. So I had no choice really.
But I hate over time. I value my personal time a lot for my mental health. So it sucks. But it’s at home at least
