Surprise! Wasn’t really going to do a Mother’s Day post because I have Eveninstar’s birthday fic scheduled that day. But decided, we could all use a little extra Spirk and though it’s a few days early, here it is…
Jim knew didn’t understand at all his desire to visit Spock’s mother with him. At first, he had flat out vocalized his opposition. Although perhaps opposition wasn’t entirely accurate.
“My mother has never expressed an interest or desire in celebrating any such occasion.”
“I’m guessing she wouldn’t be blatant about it, Spock.”
“She accepted life on Vulcan and all that comes with it when she chose to marry my father.”
“Yeah. I know. But I think this will be nice.”
Spock didn’t sigh, but it was an almost thing.
Since they had plans to visit Vulcan and Spock’s parents anyway, Jim had decided this would be a very good time for it.
So, he had carefully packed for it, including wrapped presents for Spock’s mother. He was aware his bondmate thought it all completely illogical and the consideration of it even without merit.
But Jim was having none of it.
Sarek and Amanda greeted them in their home. Sarek, stoically, of course, Amanda les so.
After they were settled into the room where they would be staying for the next couple of weeks, Jim went into his suitcase for the presents he had brought.
Spock looked over his shoulder. “You wasted the effort, Jim.”
He smiled. “We’ll see.”
They made their way back out to the living room area where they were going to sit and have refreshments and “get caught up” as Amanda put it.
Amanda was seated in what she had earlier told Jim was her favorite chair. She smiled when he and Spock came out and joined them.
“Oh. What do you have there, Jim?” she asked, her curiosity showing.
“Well. Actually, Amanda, they’re for you.”
“Since my own mother has passed on, I thought it would be appropriate and nice to honor you for Mother’s Day.”
Her eyes widened slightly. “It is Mother’s Day, isn’t it? How lovely.”
Jim handed the two wrapped packages to her.
Amanda laughed. “I can’t remember the last time I had presents.”
Jim noticed the stiffening in Spock’s shoulders and Sarek’s pursed lips. He ignored both of them and sat by Amanda to watch her open the gifts.
The first was a simple box of chocolates, but she seemed very pleased and glanced at her husband.
“You stay away from my chocolates, husband.”
Sarek humphed which made her laugh.
Then she opened the second and took out a cloisonné bangle bracelet. She gasped. “Oh, Jim, it’s just beautiful.”
He smiled and glanced toward Spock. “It’s from both of us, of course.”
She smiled, sharing a look with him. “Of course. Thank you both so much. This was an absolute wonderful surprise. I feel incredibly spoiled.
As they prepared for bed.
“You were, perhaps, right and I was, perhaps, wrong.” “It’s okay, Spock, it does happen once in a while.”

Aww I’m all melty. They’re just so adorable together and I love that Jim thought of Amanda. And I love that he didn’t make Spock feel bad. Bc of course he didn’t.

Thank you 😀

Awww. I don’t want to know what this admission cost Spock, lol. Also, considering that I rarely get anything on Mother’s day (I have to be happy when someone remembers my birthday ;)), I love that Jim does for Amanda. Very sweet!

Happy Mother’s Day! It’s not the same, but it’s a tiny gift! 💝💎

Yeah I know our new “normal” kinda sucks but at least we can have Spirk 🙂

So see, I don’t get it. Yeah, they’re older. But still….my first instinct would have been to offer Sarek a chocolate.
Well, maybe later that night! haha
You saw what I got right? On tumblr?

“Not in front of the children.” Because obviously to Amanda Jim and Spock are the children, lol. Who knows what they would get up to in private. I am reminded of the scene in Discovery where Amanda tells Sarek she’s not under his authority. Sarek is SUCH a bitch, lol. Now we see where Spock gets it!
I did! and even commented on it. It’s so cool. I had a very old version that just made the noise when you pressed the middle but even that eventually stopped working so I tossed it. I think it was made when TNG was on the air in the 80s! LOL

(I can’t tell you how often I wake up early and think – “OH there’s a new flash” and get up, or “Oh, wait this isn’t a flash day” and turn over and go back to sleep.
So it was particularly a surprise to open email and think – wait, it’s not Monday, Wednesday, or Friday – that’s THAT doing there?
Happy Mother’s Day. After whether we’re a mother or have a mother or had a mother – for each of us, there’s a Mother involved in there some place!
My son’s birthday is the real mother’s day anyway. There’s never been such a magical, perfect, glorious, loving, precious day in my life as that day, finally waking from the pain I could have sworn was going to kill me, or at least drive me mad, to feeling pain-free and totally peaceful and they placed that tiny, perfect, gorgeous little guy in my arms. All my life was made for that day, to get him here.
And he’s been giving to everyone (even as a little kid- did I tell you the balloon story when he was a toddler?) ever since.

You did tell me about the balloon. So cute.

Awww! What a nice surprise to see this posted!! This story made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Love seeing Jim (and Spock by association) making Amanda happy. I can’t imagine completely giving up all of my culture and customs like she seems to have done. That bracelet is so pretty! Love it! I like how Jim says it’s from both of them, even though Spock thought it was completely unnecessary! Jim you scored big time with this sweet gift. I’m sure Amanda can be coaxed into sharing her chocolates with Sarek! 😉
Thank you for sharing this story! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing my birthday 🎂 gift 🎁 from you.
😘 to you! ❤️💚🖖😘
