Above pictures are from my walk this morning. First two are the park by my house I walk through and the other is the neighborhood. M and I got Fit-Bits after Christmas during the sales and so I went for a walk this morning. M didn’t go as he got food poisoning from our dinner out last night. Poor guy. And he’s supposed to go out with his friend for dinner tonight (don’t ask, I am not happy, so just…don’t ask).
Anyway, I hate exercise, honestly, but the doctor thinks it will help my BP, which is still high, so I am trying. Thus the FIT-BIT.
I am fasting today, which means only coffee, tea, water or broth. I do it every once in a while. If you don’t drink coffee or tea you can still do it with water and broth. It’s called Intermittent Fasting. Look it up, it’s a thing. Anyway, listened to a PODCAST where this really overweight guy fasted for 40 days (under doctor supervision) and he lost 40 pounds. So basically a pound a day for starving yourself for 40 days. Hardly seems worth it.
I am giving myself the day off from writing, but will likely get back to it tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good weekend, if they matter to you, as they do me.

Dammit M! He should not be going!
Lovely pics! Looks like an amazing walk, even if walking is boo no fun. At least you had a gorgeous view.
I will NOT give you a view of my outside right now. Or the outside to come…
Enjoy the weekend! Relax as much as you are able. Write when the inspiration strikes.
❤️😘

Yep, I know you are getting snow, but you LOVE it, except for the shoveling of course! 😊

I admire you walking alone. I loved walking with my son, and later with grandson. But walking alone is something I seldom did and don’t at all do now. (I used to run though, back in the 80s, and that was alone.) I guess everyone goes through a phase. Sorry about M getting sick but glad you didn’t. So it’s your experimental turn to take care of him last night, i guess! I wouldn’t have wanted to ask till you told us not to, and of course now, I’m dying to know. haha 🤐 Heck yeah, weekend. Even not having a job. I don’t find too many people who would agree with me that, weekends and holidays FEEL different and you can tell the difference even without a calendar. I guess barely discernable traffic pattern/noise changes and fewer vibrations through the walls and in the air, with fewer people actively preparing to leave for work. I guess?

We had different dishes at the restaurant which saved me. Plus I had a mango margarita so maybe that helped 😂
I wouldn’t walk alone in the dark or anything but otherwise it’s no big deal!

Oh no M! I’m sorry he got food poisoning 😦
I love your neighbor. Seriously, you and M can just adopt me. LOL
I’ve heard of Intermittent fasting. A few friends do it. Eleni does those month long fasts every so often but its for religious reasons.
I hope it helps your BP!

To be fair we don’t live in any of those houses! 😁 We wish. Those are single family homes and we live in a townhome, but the area is quite nice. The fasting is just because I ate too much at dinner last night! 🤦♂️ but the walk is for the BP!

I have a story. (Old people always do. My students always yelled out, “story time,” put their instruments down and rested when I started anything. Anyway, there was a 39-year-old amazing opera singer in Amarillo who was very popular and sang all over the country, but he was overweight. He was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall with the Philharmonic. He was beside himself excited and decided to lose as much weight as possible before the concert. He went into a clinic that used Medi-fast. Under strict doctor supervision, strict carbs, and lots of exercise (like an insane amount), the man lost 60 POUNDS in 3 weeks. And promptly dropped dead of a heart attack.
At 39.

Oops! I lied. It took me forever to find the article as it happened in the 90s. He was 44, not 39. Sorry!

Yes, there’s always those times. I remember watching an episode of My 600 Pound Life on whatever channel it’s on and this guy got helped to lose like 300 pounds or something like that and then he dropped dead of a heart attack right after they’d filmed his episode. He didn’t fast but he went down to a very low calorie diet. They probably got to the point where it was a little too little, too late, sadly

A few years ago, I rode a commuter bus to work and there was a lady who worked at one of the auto insurance companies and she rode it a few times a month, not daily. She came on to the bus one day with this weird tea she kept drinking that was supposed to have all these health benefits according to her. She was skinny, but she smoked like crazy. Anyway, one day as me and a co-worker were waiting for the bus just down the street from her work, we saw all these emergency vehicles going to her work. It could have been anyone there because they had thousands of employees. But it was her. She’d had a heart attack right there at work. She died. She was probably in her 40s. I heard after that her family was suing the health tea company, but I was like, well, er, she smoked like crazy, so…
You never really know when any of us is going to go and why really. Opra’s coach, the running guy, had a heart attack and hew as a fitness nut. When it;s our time, I guess, it just is.

Love the photos. Beautiful views. There’s something peaceful to solitary walking . You can experience nature without feeling the need to chat. Too often walking with people chatting incessantly makes me ready to scream. I’d rather listen for the birds.
My Dad and I years ago would walk together through the woods in the extensive parks in Upper Manhattan (my childhood neighborhood). We’d walk together but being that we were both quiet people, we’d walk silently for the most part. It was very serene. It always brought me joy. I need to try to go for walks when the spring comes. Being that I work overnight though, I’ll be alone.
I’m glad you didn’t get food poisoning. That really sucks.
We had a snowfall of about 4 or 5 inches overnight and then ice. At least it wasn’t the foot of snow they had originally predicted. It’s going down to 4° tomorrow morning! Not a good day to take a walk.
Enjoy your week, stay well. ❤
