I’d forgotten it was Yaoichan’s (probably spelled that wrong) birthday today (again sorry) so I did a mini birthday flash for her. And it’s Christmas in July themed too. Since she likes the boys to have kids, well…

 “What’s that, Daddy?”

Jim stopped when his four-year-old daughter tugged on his hand to make him stop next to a store window. He wrinkled his nose. “It’s a stuffy of a reindeer.”

“Can I have it for my birthday, Daddy?”

Jim laughed. “You want a stuffed reindeer? It’s July.”

“I know that. But he’s cute. And why do they have him now?”

“A gimmick for Christmas in July sales.”

She screwed up her little face. “What’s a gimlet?”

“Er. Gimmick. You know what? Let’s go see about that reindeer.”

“And that’s how she ended up getting that stuffed reindeer for her birthday,” Jim explained to Spock later that night.

She was even now running around their house clutching the thing and making noises for it.

“She is making horse noises.”

Jim grinned. “Yep. She doesn’t know what a reindeer sounds like. I’m not sure I do either.”

“Father! Look!” She stopped next to where they stood and thrust her reindeer at Spock.

He took it from her, managed not to wince at the slobber on it from her kissing it, patted its head and handed it back to her.

“Very nice, Amanda. It is almost dinner. Perhaps you should put the reindeer in your room until after.”

“Martin.”

Spock stared down at her. “I beg your pardon?”

“His name.”

“I see.” Spock nodded. “Please take Martin to your room and put him in your reindeer pen until after dinner.”

“Okay!” And with that she dashed off.

Jim laughed and kissed him. “You two are so adorable, I can barely stand it.”

“Hmm.” Spock accepted the kiss.

“Okay, gotta go check on her birthday cake. The bakery said it would be ready by now. I’ll be right back.”

And when Jim got to the bakery he was pleased to see that they added a little reindeer made out of frosting to the top as he had asked.

Amanda would have the best Christmas in July birthday her two dads could manage.
