So I was lucky enough to get an appointment with the endodontist today and unlucky enough for him to tell me there was nothing he could do, the tooth can’t be saved, and it would have to be extracted.
So the continuing saga of my hapless tooth continues
Sigh

Hapless tooth is an excellent name for a punk rock band.
Sending all the good thoughts my lovely

And when the very kind endodontist squirted water there I almost came out of my chair. Yeah dude that’s where it hurts LOL

You know, models often have their back molars pulled so that their cheeks sink in further.
Consider yourself a model!
I’d MUCH rather have a tooth extracted than a root canal, etc.
But I certainly understand your feelings about it all are very different from mine. It took me all I could do to get my dentist to merely pull mine 3 years ago. But she did and she acted brilliantly and I never had to look back. Healed so easily and well. And heck, I enjoyed some mashed potatoes that week – you like those!!!

Did you get bridges or just left them with a tooth?

Because mine were the same back bottom tooth on either side, I just left them empty. The first one was taken out – NOT extracted – more like the guy had his knee in my chest and it took him an hour to finally break it into pieces 20 years ago. I have very very strong bones. I’d had it filled in college and the person who did it cracked it when she filled it. And it never quit hurting, so I had it removed. The other was 3 years ago, so 17 years between and I never had any problems with just one gone. My teeth never even shifted, which shocked the newer dentist. I don’t miss either of them ever. I just get to miss the pain. But having it a tooth between others, I can see you would want a bridge. My mother had a bridge with 2 teeth all my life, so I know what they look like. I’m just sorry you have to deal with it. And no, I’ve never gone to the dentist as often as I should have, because I just happen to have the genetics for very strong and good teeth.

Well as I said, both of my parents had full dentures when they were young, so I clearly do not come from such good stock

Oh no π¦ I’m sorry it couldn’t be saved.
On the brightish side, I think an extraction is a he k of a lot cheaper than a root canal
