I told my son yesterday, as we gathered at their place, that the greatest thing for me this weekend is that we don’t have to honor HIM in memory. That we get to honor him on Veteran’s Day, and have him here with us.
In fact, our immediate family is one of the few who lost no one (physically) in WWII or Viet Nam or Korea or the Gulf War or Afghanistan. We did lose more than one mentally, but they did all come home.
Our family joins in memory of those who lost everything to give us freedom and survival.
