Hello Friends

My Heart Wants to Sigh is live with the first chapter. It is the Spirk Sound of Music Story. I am excited to bring you this story and like my friend, J, said, I totally pictured Jim spinning around on the green hills singing his heart out. I think this is going to be a blast and I hope you agree. I hope to get another chapter up before I go back to working on December stories.
I should get an update done on The Space in My Bed this week, too.
Tonight M and I are watching Hitchcock’s The Birds. Watch it every October as I own it. You know I’ve watched it every year for many years and Rod Taylor really is an ass at the beginning. But I digress.

Oooh I’m excited to read!
And woo on December fics. Do you!
Eek. The Birds always freaked me out too much. Enjoy it though!

I was really calm in my comment on the fic.
But the truth is I AM SO TOTALLY FREAKED WITH DELIGHT I can hardly contain myself! I had no idea that’s how you were going to set it up, and I’m just…seriously beside myself. Forgive me. I had absolutely no idea how much this new fic was going to set me off with joy or this was how I was going to react.
I can’t explain it. It’s like…magic!!!!!
Maybe it’s because there are so few of the other songs people write fics using that I’ve ever even heard of (except Barry and Bread, of course).
And of course, I’ve taught all the songs from the musical back when I taught voice, or when students asked for help with a solo for a concert or something. I just love them all. So every reference makes my spidey senses tingle like Angels getting wings when a bell rings.
I can’t even put it in words. I can’t explain it….Who can explain it, who can tell you why? Fools give you reasons, wise men never try.
So I’m a fool. And obviously Love all the songs from South Pacific, too.
(No, THAT is not a prompt EITHER.)
We did that one in High School (we did Sound of Music too, but I always played either piano or violin or both back and forth in the orch pit.) (One huge guess who played Emile de Becque with that gorgeous rich deep voice with whom this 16 year old fell head over heels in love and stayed that way for over 40 years.)
But I digress.
I seem to be even sappier today. Who knew I even could be???
No alcohol or any other substances other than hot tea with lemon was involved in the making of this comment. Honest.

I for one am delighted at your enthusiasm! Thank you! It’s very much appreciated! I want to follow the story pretty closely. I couldn’t make Jim a nun but I still wanted much of it to mirror the musical as I grew up watching it. It’s my sister’s favorite. I wasn’t sure many would embrace it as a Spirk story, but I’m so glad that there are those, like you, who do! Thank you so much!

I’m enjoying the Sound of Music story. Definitely plan on watching the CD of the movie… When I get a chance. Maybe today? And yes I’m reading my notifications backwards once again. As you probably see from some comments I have made on your other updates.
I love The Birds! In fact, I love all the Alfred Hitchcock movies I’ve ever seen. Just rewatched The Birds recently.
J above made a reference to South Pacific. Can’t you just see Jim singing I’m gonna wash that man right out of my hair about Spock?! No prompt intended… or am I intending a prompt?! Lol!

I actually got to ACT in that one in college. And dance. A really interesting experience since we had rehearsals in a dance studio. It was very intimidating, all the “inspirational” signs on the wall. Like, need to lose weight? Quit eating, Pig!
And to think I always wanted dance lessons! (We had dance rehearsals there for Fiddler, too. and got to watch the instructor’s daughter practice with some guy in preparation for a recital. She was art in motion. And her father ripped her a new one. I know I don’t have a trained eye, but good grief. She was scary good to see up close and in person like that. And she just took it. I’d have been running out in tears. I was not looking forward to our rehearsals after that!)

J that sounds like a horrible experience at a dance studio. I can’t imagine being criticized like that father did.
My three girls took dance. The took ballet, lyrical dance and hip-hop and tap when they were younger. Then school was not involved in competitions. It was a dance school that just did recitals. It was very inclusive and had kids in all sizes and shapes. They emphasized having fun and loving dance without any judgment of how they looked. Yet at the same time, the teacher got the kids to aim to be the best that they could be! The main teacher, Ms Gail, was absolutely amazing! She was very kind-hearted and had a passion for teaching dance. The other teachers in her dance school had similar personalities.
Ms Gail was one of those rare individuals that is just a joy to be around!! Very warm and accepting. She was somebody that should’ve been a therapist because she was so kind and worked so well with the kids, even ones that were going through a tough time. Really befriending the kids.
Well I still didn’t get to watch The Sound of Music… maybe Friday!? 🤷🏻♀️

This was (gasp) Neil Hess. Quite the renowned dancer and teacher in the Texas panhandle. Until that moment, I had thought he hung the moon.

Mr. Hess’s daughters, Lisa, Jillana, and Alexia, had successful careers in dance. Two with the New York City Ballet and one with the Chicago Opera Ballet.
