Prompt: A heartfelt conversation on the observation deck (Doesn’t this pic totally go?)

“So.” Jim sidled up next to Spock as his first officer stared out at the stars on the observation deck. “Are we going to talk about it?”

Spock hesitated. “I would prefer not to.”

Jim took that in, his gaze shifting from Spock to the stars. “Because you didn’t mean it?”

“I meant every word.”

He blew out a breath, giving himself a moment for his racing heart to calm. “What do we do about it?”

“I…could request a transfer.”

“What? Why?”

“I do not want to make things…awkward between us, Captain.”

“Spock.” Jim sighed. “God, don’t you get it?”

Spock frowned minutely and then finally turned to look at Jim. “Get it?”

“Let me make it clear.” Jim reached his hand up to encircle the nape of Spock’s neck. He leaned in, pressing his lips firmly to Spock’s in what was going to be their first kiss. One of many, if Jim had anything to say about it.

Spock pulled Jim to him, deepening the contact of their sliding, seeking mouths.

Finally, after several minutes of exchanged breathless kisses, Jim pulled back and smiled. “Get it now, Commander?”

And he was pulled into another embrace, another kiss, and for the first time in a long time, Jim felt…happy.
