March 01, 2021 Flash Fic

So for flashes this month, I’m going to do something a little different. The flashes for March will all be no more than 100 words. So, I will tell a little snippet of a tale in those 100 words or less. Here is today’s! (I used Archer’s quarters, simply because I liked his better than the teeny one in TOS…we never really see Jim’s in the AOS movies, except his closet and sink in Beyond).

Jim woke to gentle rubbing on his back and for a moment he just let the rubbing continue, eyes still closed.

“Jim, you are due on the bridge in thirty minutes.”

He groaned. “Just a few more.”

“You will be late,” came the murmur.

For a few second, Jim mulishly thought, ‘So what. I’m the captain. What will they do?’

He sighed then, opened his eyes, and turned to lie on his back to stare up at the ceiling. His heart rate picked up as he thought of all the ramifications.

“So, now we’re a thing?”

“Yes,” Spock replied.

Flash Fic, February 08, 2021

Today begins the prompt flashes. There are only 5 so they will appear today, the 10th, the 12th, the 15th and the 17th. This one is from LPWriter. ” I’d like a flash fic about Spirk becoming adoptive parents. The conflict arises when Spock wants to adopt the child, but Kirk is concerned it will be interfere with their jobs as commanding officer. Will Spock convince him?”

This is my stab at it!

The conversation with his father stays with Spock for a long time. So much so that he spends even more time in meditation than usual, loses his concentration on the bridge, and gets out of plans he’d had with other crew members, in particular Jim.

He knows that Jim has noticed. Jim eyes Spock fervently. And in time, Spock will need to talk to Jim about it. About everything. But he is not yet ready.

Jim stops asking to spend time with Spock, then, and Spock knows this is not a good thing. They have been in a relationship for the past nine months. They are nearing the end of the five-year mission. He knows Jim is considering going out for another five years and if he does, Spock is uncertain how that will work. But he wants it to.

He has been thinking about this for two straight weeks, even Nyota has been giving him strange looks, and he is aware the crew knows he is to blame for Jim’s quiet, pensive mood.

So he goes to his captain’s quarters, prepared to explain everything.

Spock realizes he has left all of this too long. Jim’s gaze is rather cold, which is unlike him since they got together. In fact, the coldness there reminds Spock of the glacial blue directed his way on the day they met.

“What’s on your mind, Commander?” Jim asks. Spock recognizes the defensive move. Jim’s body language is highly defensive too. He’s wearing his pajamas, pants and a T-shirt, but while he usually does nothing to alter his appearance when Spock is there, this time he pulls on a regulation robe. He’s got his arms crossed in front of his chest, too.

“I would like to discuss our personal relationship and the consequences related to it.”

Jim purses his lips, but nods.

“May we sit?” Spock gestures to the small sofa in the sitting room of Jim’s quarters.

Jim walks over to sit down without comment. Spock joins him there.

“I would like to take the next step between us,” Spock says simply. “If you are amenable, I believe by regulation 213a we are required to file papers with the admiralty. I believe—

“Wait. What?” Jim’s mouth is hanging open and his eyes are wide.

“A bonding ceremony at the soonest opportunity on New Vulcan is wise, but I believe that you as well as our crew and friends would also prefer to experience a Terran traditional marriage ceremony.”

“Spock, Spock. Slow down.” Jim exhaled. “Is this…are you proposing?”

Spock nods. “Yes. We are, at this point, fully committed to the long-term, are we not?”

“Uh. I thought so.” Jim traces his lips with his tongue. “But…Spock, you, uh, you’ve been kind of distant and I thought, maybe, you were having second thoughts.”

“I am sorry for giving you that impression or causing you to doubt the sincerity of my feelings, Jim. Discussing this was something I should have already done, but recently, after a conversation with my father, it became more important.”

Jim seems to take this in. “What does Sarek have to do with this?”

And this is where it gets tricky.

“There is a…small Vulcan boy. My cousin’s son. He is half Vulcan and half Betazed. His parents were killed in the recent freighter ship crash on Loewen 12. He is but four years old and an orphan. No one wishes to take charge of him. My father would do so but he is troubled by some recent indications of declining health and would not like to put the child in a position of losing another parental figure.”

Jim’s eyes were so wide now that with his suddenly very pale skin, Spock is alarmed.

He continues anyway.

“The suggestion was made that you and I could foster the child with the ultimate goal formal adoption,” Spock says carefully. “However, the terms would require that we were a bonded pair to give some sense of stability. I know that it likely seems as though I am bringing up bonding and marriage solely so that we make take charge of this child, but…”

Jim lowered his gaze. “But?”

“That is not the case.  My love for you is unparalleled. There is no one I would rather spend my lifetime with and as I said I know I should have brought this up before, but I did feel as though there was no rush, but now—”

“There is.”

“Yes.”

“Spock, you know I love you.”

“But?”

Jim shakes his head. “There is no but. I’m willing to bond with and marry you. That’s never been an issue with me. Whenever you want to, I’m on board with that. I’ve never loved anyone. Not really. You’re it. That isn’t going to change if we wait another five years.”

And Spock is gladdened by this. He is.

“Then the issue is the adopting of the child?”

Jim laughs. It is a welcome sound even if it does sound a tad hysterical. “We’re on a starship, Spock. A child under those circumstances?”

“Our five-year mission is close to an end. I believe my father would care for him until we can take over his care.”

“So, then, what, we retire to raise a kid?”

Spock purses his lips this time. He tries not to show that he is disappointed in Jim’s response. He isn’t even sure why as he was certain Jim would not immediately agree.

“I…” Spock sighs. He cannot help it. He rises from the sofa and walks over to Jim’s terminal. Jim is watching his every move. He finds what he is looking for. “Come.”

Jim does. He rounds his desk and looks down at the holo portrait of the four-year-old boy. Spock hears the sharp intake of Jim’s breath. Sees the softening in Jim’s eyes as he focuses on the little pointed ears.

“Spock,” Jim whispers.

“Please, Ashaya.”

He pulls Jim down to sit on his lap, showing him all the information on the boy that Sarek has sent. They go over everything together and by the end, Jim has tears in his eyes.

“Jim?”

Jim takes a deep breath, then nods. “All right. Somehow…we’ll figure this out.”

Spock closes his eyes in relief and in the great magnitude of his love for this incredible human.

“Together.”

“Yes,” Jim agrees. “Always.”

Flash Fic (Roommates), February 01, 2021

Spock did not know what his next move was as he sat beside Jim.

Jim had not yet removed his feet from being curled up under him. He was looking toward the screen where the movie had begun to play. There was a blonde actress and a dark haired actor. Spock was unfamiliar with both.

Spock let out a breath. “Should you wish to…place your feet on me, I will allow it.”

Jim’s head slowly turned toward Spock, his wide gaze landing on Spock. “I…what?”

Spock’s mouth felt dry. “Your feet. If they are cold, you are welcome to lay them across my lap.”

Jim’s tongue came out to trace his bottom lip. Then very carefully he unfolded his legs and stretched them across the small couch to rest his bare feet on Spock’s lap. Those eyes stared at Spock, the blue so saturated that Spock’s breath caught in his throat at their beauty.

“Okay…uh, thank you.”

Spock swallowed heavily, trying to pretend to look at the movie while looking at Jim, instead. “I…the other evening when I left, the night we moved in.”

“Hmm?”

“It was…I believe you were under the impression I went out with a…for a sexual…”

“Spock, it’s okay, you don’t have to—”

“It was my mother.”

He felt Jim’s stare then. He did not look directly at Jim, but he felt the heat of Jim’s gaze. On the screen, the actress had just fallen into a fountain and the actor was trying to get her out.

Jim cleared his throat. “I may be going out on a limb here, but, do you…?”

Spock looked over.

The tongue came out again. “Spock, do you…are you interested in me?”

Jim had turned a little pink as though perhaps a blush. And Spock saw something that cause an answering leap in his own heart. Hesitant hope in Jim’s gaze.

Spock was going to have to take a giant leap.

“Yes, Jim. I am.”

And just like that Jim moved in a flash and was suddenly sitting on Spock’s lap.

“Jim…”

“Shut up and kiss me.”

Flash Fic (Roommates), January 25, 2021

When Spock returned to the apartment it was to Jim sitting on the new couch, curled up with his bare feet on it, eating directly from a carton of ice cream. His eyes were red, though not moist, so Spock could not tell if he had been crying or his eyes were red from something else.

“Hi.”

“Good evening, Jim.”

Jim said nothing else for a moment, just shoved another spoonful of ice cream into his mouth. He seemed distressed, but Spock could not quite put a finger on it as to why or how he even thought it was the case. Jim’s body language seemed relaxed enough but there was something off about him even taking away the red eyes.

“I didn’t know you were going out,” Jim said then. “Came out of the shower and you were gone.”

Spock nodded. “I had an engagement. I did leave a message.”

Jim’s shoulders hunched in then. Just a tiny bit. “First night in our apartment, I kinda thought we’d spend it together. You know?”

Spock did not know. Jim had not said and Spock didn’t know there were rules about these things.

He cleared his throat. “An unspoken rule?”

Jim blinked, then shrugged. “No. Just an assumption on my part I guess. But I guess there’s that old saying my Gran used to say for a reason.”

“Saying?”

“To assume. Makes an ass out of you and me. Get it?”

Spock did not, exactly, but he knew there were many things Humans paid attention to that Vulcans did not.

“I do apologize for leaving, but I had arranged to meet someone.” Spock went into the kitchen to make tea.

He was surprised when Jim unfolded himself from the couch and followed him. He put what was left in the container of ice cream in the freezer.

“Where did you obtain that?” Spock wondered. They had not shopped for any food that he recalled and they hadn’t moved any either

“Convenience store on the corner. When I realized you were gone, I went down there and got that.”

“I see.” Spock put a teakettle on for hot water. “Do you want some tea?”

Jim bit his lip. His hair was in disarray and he somehow looked far younger than Spock knew him to be. “You got any of that tisane with the little blue flowers?”

“I do, yes.”

Jim nodded. “That would be nice.” He leaned up against the counter. He had pulled on loose fitting pajama bottoms and an oversized T-shirt with some cartoon character Spock did not recognize. It was likely why he seemed so young just then. “Did you, uh, have a good time?”

“It was…educational.”

Jim smiled very slightly, but his gaze slid away, his cheeks vaguely pink.

Spock once more thought he might be missing something, but he had no idea what.

When he made Jim his tea, he picked up the cup and gave Spock a rather shy smile. It made Spock’s stomach hurt again.

“I think I’ll take this to my room and get to bed early. Have a morning class I can’t be late for. Thanks, Spock. Goodnight.”

“Goodnight, Jim.”

Should I do Jim’s POV or stick with mostly Spock (Amanda’s part an exception)

Flash Fic, January 18, 2021

The roommates again…I might keep writing the rest of this month’s flashes about them so that when they are finished, I can post their entire story on AO3.

Spock stood staring at the message board for Academy Cadet roommates for far longer than he should have. It was an odd concept to Spock anyway. Archaic. And in all likelihood, he did not wish to trade any of those seeking a dorm mate with Jim. If he truly was going to vacate his dorm room, it would be for an apartment of his own, not for another person bound to cause Spock consternation.

“Hey, what are you doing?”

And speaking of…Jim had saddled up next to him and was now gazing at the board. He blinked a few times, and then, Spock clearly saw, plastered a smile on his face, and turned to Spock.

“You aren’t looking to ditch me are ya?”

The jovial manner in which Jim asked indicated that Jim was trying to be lighthearted about it.

But Spock struggled with a reply, because, indeed, he was.

The smile slipped, barely, but there was a tiny huff of breath. “God, you really are, huh? I was just joking but…”

Spock shook his head. “I am not really looking for another dorm mate. I am considering moving off campus to an apartment.” He hesitated. “I surveyed the board on the chance I would find a suitable replacement for you when I vacate.”

Jim tugged his bottom lip with his teeth. “Vacate? Well. Why?”

“When I first submitted my application for the Academy I was uncertain whether dormitory living was for me and had anticipated the point when I would prefer an off campus dwelling. I am not really a communal sort.”

Jim nodded at this. “Okay. Well, we can find an off campus apartment. There’s a building about a block or so down from the Academy. That would probably suit us.”

Spock’s stomach hurt. As it often did if he had to face something emotionally uncomfortable. Jim was certainly not making this easy. But then, Spock found that nothing was particularly easy where Jim was concerned. He simply could not continue living with a roommate he was…infatuated with…and did not share that infatuation.

Spock exhaled carefully. “I would not wish to burden you with the unexpected cost of an apartment.”

Jim shrugged. “Oh, I’m not worried about that. I can cover that.”

“But…” Spock paused, searching for words. “You enjoy the camaraderie that comes with communal living spaces.”

“Sure, but…” And then there was that little huff of breath that somehow made Spock’s stomach hurt worse. “Oh.”

Spock turned to look at Jim, fully, though reluctantly. Thus far he had been able to avert his gaze under the pretense he was still studying the message board. And now he wished he had continued to do so, because all openness in Jim’s beautiful blue eyes had shuttered like he had slammed down a door. Spock’s stomach pain increased tenfold.

“Jim…”

“No, I get it. It’s fine, Spock. It’s just that…I thought we were getting along pretty well.”

“We…were. Are.”

There was the barest twitch of Jim’s lips. “And yet, you want to ditch me.”

“That is not…”

Jim held up his hands. “No need to fall all over yourself trying to explain. I know I can be a bit much. And probably especially for a Vulcan. But I-I don’t have a lot of friends, not real ones anyway, and I thought…nah, never mind. I’m not trying to make you feel bad. Just let me know when you move out, okay?”

Jim turned and began to walk away.

And Spock really, really ought to let him. But at that moment, he was so emotionally distraught and out of his element, that he almost doubled over from the pain. And he could not, would not do it. No matter how much in…infatuated he was with Jim.

“I wish for us to get an apartment together,” Spock called after Jim.

He saw the moment Jim’s shoulders tightened and he very slowly turned around. Those eyes were still shuttered which Spock found he did not like at all.

“Yeah?”

“Yes. If you will accompany me, we can go to that apartment building you mentioned, and select a place together.”

Jim stared at him a moment without a word. Then, “Are you doing this because you feel sorry for me?”

No, because I love you.

“I—”

Jim surprised him with a hearty laugh. “It’s cool. I’m totally onboard with whatever works. Let’s go get that apartment.”

And Spock found himself matching steps with Jim, who grinned at him, as they made their way off campus to find a new place to live…together.

Flash Fic, January 11, 2021

The moment Jim steps onto the bridge he is aware that everyone on the bridge is looking at him, but trying to pretend they are not. He feels the heavy, oppressive tension oozing off them. He feels it himself.

There are a couple of exceptions to those watching his entrance surreptitiously.

Uhura doesn’t even try to pretend she is not openly gaping at him. He ignores her.

And Spock. Yes. Of course he arrives before Jim. He is resolutely not looking at Jim.

That just annoys Jim more and makes his headache worse. It’s pounding at the moment and there’s nothing he can do about it. He’d already tried one of Bones’ usual remedies.

He taps his fingers on the console of his Captain’s chair and just as pointedly does not look at Spock.

It’s clear that, somehow, everyone around him has heard that he and Spock had a fight.

Admittedly this is not unusual. They met fighting really. And at times Jim feels good they’ve gotten at least past that. But they are both passionate and it is inevitable.

But this is their first fight as a romantic couple. Which admittedly began less than a month ago. Jim wonders if it’s over already. If he wants it to be.

Jim is aware the hurt and headache is making him irrational and that it is not the time for such decisions to be made or even to think of them.

His new yeoman takes that moment to approach him. Her name is Allison Krenitz and she took over from Rand after she left the Enterprise to undergo engineer training.

She hands him a cup of coffee with a wide smile. She’s young and eager to please, Jim can tell. Besides he has never asked her to bring him coffee.

He takes a sip anyway and closes his eyes momentarily in pleasure. When he opens them, he smiles at her.

“This is perfect.”

Krenitz nods. “Cream and one sugar cube, just like you like it, Sir.”

Jim wonders vaguely if he has given her that information or if she just picked up on it, but it doesn’t matter, really, and takes another sip. “This is fantastic for replicated.”

“Oh, it’s not, Captain. I brewed it fresh myself.”

Behind him he hears a chair turn quickly from the direction of the science station, but he ignores that too.

“Well, that’s very nice of you, Yeoman. But not necessary.”

“It’s no trouble, sir.” She hands him an apple. “You didn’t have breakfast in the mess this morning, so I thought you might need something.”

This time he doesn’t miss Uhura loudly clearing her throat and neither does Krenitz as she frowns in her direction.

“Thank you.” Jim smiles. “That will be all for now, Yeoman.”

“Yes, Captain. I’ll be standing by should you need assistance.”

When she leaves and gets on the turbolift, so does Uhura. Jim turns with a frown to look as the doors close on them. She hadn’t asked to leave the bridge and Jim is pretty sure it’s to lecture Krenitz in some way that’s not Uhura’s job or business. He’s aware that his communications officer is a buttinsky just the same.

Jim forgets about it for now, even when Uhura returns a while later.

After his shift, he returns to his quarters, ignoring hints from Bones they should have a drink in ten forward. Finally, he has to admit to Bones, reluctantly, that he’s just not feeling up to it.

Jim is surprised when Bones doesn’t push it.

He’s downright shocked, however, to find Spock waiting for him in his quarters.

Jim opens his mouth to either apologize himself or ask Spock to, and he’s not really sure which it was.

“I am the one who told Yeoman Krenitz how you like your coffee.”

Jim stares at Spock. “Uh. Okay.”

“And that she should bring you a cup each morning.”

Jim nods. “Why are you telling me this?”

“Because she did not come up with this herself and—”

“Spock,” Jim interrupts softly. “There’s no need to be jealous over Allison Krenitz.”

“I am not jealous.”

“Or anyone else,” Jim adds. “I know you think I was flirting with the counselor on Rig—”

“You were flirting.”

Jim smiles. Spock looks affronted, sure, but he also looks oddly contrite at the same time, and somehow the look on him is adorable. Jim’s headache is less too.

“I want you. No one else.”

Spock’s expression slips, leaving him looking rather unsure. It’s a remarkably good look too. “You…”

He can see Spock has no idea how to finish his sentence so Jim walks up to him, puts his arms around Spock’s neck and finishes it for him.

“Are hopelessly in love and devoted to you. Yes.”

Flash Fic, January 4, 2021

“Steve.”

He frowned. “Who are you?”

“Diana. Steve? Steve? Are you all right?”

He shot up in the air, breathing hard, darkness swathing the room in which he woke in. Lying in bed. He put his hand to his heart.

A hand came to rest on his keg, soothing.

“Jim?”

Jim. Yes. Jim Kirk. Yes.

“Computer, lights,” he croaked.

The lights came on and he looked at the masculine hand on his leg.

Spock. Yes. Spock. Thank God.

Spock sat up then and gave him a quizzical look. “Nightmare?”

He nodded. “Yeah a doozy. I was some other guy altogether and I don’t know, like in World War One, I think. With a woman instead of you.” He laughed.

Spock arched a brow. “Unlikely.”

“Yeah. Anyway, glad it was a dream.” Jim glanced toward the dark window. “It’s still late. Should probably go back to sleep.”

“Can you?”

“Mm. Not sure.”

Spock takes Jim’s hand. “There are other things we can do in bed besides sleep.”

Jim grins as Spock pulls him back down to lie on the bed. “Oh yeah!”

Spock kisses him as his fingers find the psi points on Jim’s face, whispering, “Forget.”

And Jim does. The nightmare is gone and only the love of Spock is there to guide him.

The Thought of You is Consuming Me….

The Clothes they’d wear

It was easier for him to come to my estate. I stayed there alone during the off season save for a few servants who looked after me. My family, consisting of my mother and brother, preferred to stay in London full-time, only coming to the country estate rarely.

I knew that for my mother it held too many memories of the husband she had lost far too young, and for my brother, he wanted not only to look after her, but he liked to be closer to the action of London, even in times when the social set were absent.

I preferred the comfort and solitude the country afforded me, now more than ever, when I could have visits with Chris.

The middle of autumn was among my favorite times at my estate. The weather was crisp, clean and pure. Far away from the soot and smoke and dastardly fog of London. The leaves turned. The truly cold air made your lungs feel like you were indeed alive. And the nights by the fire, sipping port with my lover. Yes, I loved this time.

Chris would come and see me a few days at a time, and whatever he told his family, he never elaborated. It was our time together and we allowed no one else to intrude.

Chris was always provided a room of his own, though he never stayed in it. He always slept with me, even on the rare nights it didn’t become physical between us. I kept very loyal, well compensated servants at the estate who knew not to gossip or question our arrangements.

After my cook prepared our least meal for the day and the staff cleaned up, assuring themselves I needed no further care, they went off for the evening, to their homes in the village or on the estate itself, and left Chris and me to ourselves. They never returned before late morning, knowing neither of us were particularly early risers.

I suspected they were as loyal and efficient as they were because as serving positions went, my requirements were really quite low and easy, allowing them a lot of free time. When I was not there, they had even less to do, though I continued to pay them to care for my family’s home and lands.

One late November night, after they had departed, Chris and I lounged together on a sofa in the library, sipping port. He had positioned himself so that he was between my legs, his back against my chest, as he read some heavy tome he had chosen from said library. I pretended to read the London newspaper, but I was more interested in the port and watching him.

I loved the way his tongue poked out as he read a particular passage in the book. He was adorable. The whole thing struck me as rather domesticated, though I knew we could never truly be a couple accepted by our peers.

One day, perhaps not soon, we would not be allowed this amount of freedom. Yes, we would still meet. Still steal as much intimacy as we could. For the rest of our lives, as we had vowed. But these were times to be treasured. Before such demands of society changed this.

“Mmm?” Chris leaned back further to glance up at me, his head lying upon my chest as those blue eyes searched mine.

“What?”

“You’re thinking quite loudly tonight, Zachary. What’s on your mind?”

“You,” I admitted. “Us.”

Chris smirked. “Do you wish for me to put the book away so we can retire to bed then?”

“No,” I murmured. “I have been enjoying this.”

He patted my hand that I had resting on his thigh. “Me too.” He took a sip of his port. “But let me know when you’re ready. You know how engrossed I can be.”

I did know and it was one of the many, many reasons I loved him.

I brushed my fingertips over his hair and then went back to my London news and that wonderful feeling of domesticity.

And that is a wrap for November….on to my Spirk Hallmark Christmas Story.

We will see these two cuties again in 2021. The “so far” only roommates!

Photo by Edward Eyer on Pexels.com

It was nearly time for the winter break at the Academy and Spock’s roommate, Jim, had not said anything about what his plans were for the break.

Spock was, of course, merely curious. Whatever Jim decided to do would have no direct effect on him. And yet, one evening as the date quickly approached, Spock decided to ask.

It was a Friday and Spock anticipated Jim would likely go out to party as most cadets do. Jim didn’t do it that often, Spock noticed, but he did it certainly more than Spock.

Jim was dressed quite casually, nonetheless, wearing a pair of faded and ratty looking jeans, a burgundy tank top, and nothing on his feet. He was putzing, as he called it, around the kitchen.

“Jim, are you planning on vacating the dorm during the winter break?” Spock asked.

Jim was spraying whipped cream out of a can directly into his mouth when Spock asked. He took a moment to swallow, lick the cream from his lips, and then set the can on the counter.

“Nah. I’m not going anywhere.”

“No?”

Jim shrugged. “As you know, my mom’s on her ship. She’s pretty much the only family I have these days since my bro took off when I was just a kid. No need for me to go back to Iowa to an empty house. I figure I’ll just stick around here.” Jim smiled. “How about you? You going to Vulcan?”

Spock inclined his head. “I thought to stay here also. I had considered spending the break on Vulcan, but since my parents were just here and I visited with them, I have decided to forgo a visit at this point.”

“Oh. Cool.”

Spock hesitated. “Unless you wished to spend the break alone here.”

Jim laughed. “Why would I care about that? We’re living together in this dorm now. The break doesn’t make any difference. Hey, we can keep each other company.”

“Indeed.” Spock found himself somewhat pleased at this prospect. “Are you headed out tonight?”

“Nope. Gonna stay in. Get a pizza and watch old time Christmas movies on the couch.”

“That sounds…interesting.”

“I don’t know about that.” Jim grinned and then took out his communication device, presumably to order his pizza.

Spock wanted to ask to join Jim, but words failed him. He had hoped Jim might say something rather casually like, ‘want to watch with me’, but he didn’t. And Spock was far too shy to insert himself into Jim’s plans.

Yet he was surprised to hear Jim’s pizza order.

“Two cheese pizzas. One with vegan cheese please. Yep. Okay.”

Jim smiled at Spock. “Be here in about forty minutes.

“Jim, you ordered one with vegan cheese.”

“Sure. Aren’t you going to want some?”

Spock blinked. Did not answer at first.

“You aren’t going to join me?”

“I…am. Yes.”

Jim’s smile brightened. “Then vegan cheese. Trust me. You won’t regret it. It’ll be fun.”

Spock cared not at all for the holiday movies, but he was pretty sure Jim was correct. He would not regret it.
