lick

I finally got Didn’t We Almost Have it All updated this week. I have this visual in my head, though it hasn’t made it into the fiction, of Jim saying to Bones. “We almost had it all, didn’t we, Bones?” Of course there was a Whitney song that the title came from, but I still see that scene in my head between Jim and Bones.

I would place that scene in the hospital after Jim wakes up after the shuttle accident and Bones, recovering himself, comes to see him. By this time, Jim knows that Spock and Uhura’s wedding is going to be soon. Chekov is dead. As are the pilot and the security guard obviously.

I think in my mind that Jim is particularly haunted by the guard’s death. Because he thinks here is a person who had hopes and dreams and people that cared about him, who he mattered to, and yet Jim didn’t even consider him when choosing who to save. I think that’s powerful stuff.

Anyway, during this conversation that apparently took place off the pages of my story, during a time when their conversation has lagged, for the first time in years, Bones and Jim aren’t even sure what to say to each other, and Jim finally says, “We almost had it all, didn’t we, Bones?”

Next up for updating is supposed to be Turning Page, my story of Spock and Jim’s shore leave. I got the idea from a song, of course, called Turning Page. I’m not actually working on it though because I am working on my continuing story for the blog that will end up on AO3. My sorta old married Spirk, but not so old. I think on AO3 it might continue into December and be part of my 2017 holiday stories, the other of which is the one I already previewed on here. That’s it for this year. Two.

I have started my second chapter of Will You Have Sex With Me so you can expect that at some point in the not too distant future.

Tonight we are off to see Only the Brave which is the true story of firefighters who die. So I can expect to be depressed.

I have no real plans for this coming weekend either, at least that I know of, at this point. Our weather is firmly in Fall territory now so I am quite pleased with that.

On the reading front I am currently riveted by IT by Stephen King. I loved the movie that was out earlier and am looking forward to the sequel. I’d love to see Chris in it but not sure if that will happen. I am not the only one either as I saw some article who mentioned what that writer’s ideal cast would be for the adults (they were children in the first) in the sequel and Chris was among them.

On the future vacation front, I have now paid off our cruise and also purchased our plane tickets for it at the end of January. Guess it is really going to happen. I still have to pay my property taxes and my car registration and afford Christmas too. Ugh! LOL

Flash Fic Friday, November 03,217

This week’s prompt was “Amnesia” which I came up with myself, lol. And this begins a little series I am doing for the month of November. So Fridays will be 3, 10, 17 and 24. Those days will all be the same Spock and Jim. And I am going a bit OMS but not too too far into the future.

When he opened his eyes all he saw was a sliver of brown. He opened his eyes wider and the brown became eyes, deep rich chocolate eyes that morphed into a very attractive man with pale skin, sharp manicured eyebrows, and pointed ears.

He smiled. “You an elf?”

“I beg your pardon?”

“The ears,” he mumbled sleepily. He licked his dry lips. “Water.”

A cup was held up to his mouth and his head held gently as it was tipped forward to allow him to drink.

“What happened?”

“You collapsed in the cornfield. I discovered you there. I suspect that you overheated in the sun. I have brought your body temperature down by removing your clothing and immersing you in cool water.”

He realized then he lay not in a bed but in a tub of water. He blinked rapidly. “Did you-you took off my clothes?”

“Of course, considering—”

“Who are you?”

The man stopped, tilted his head. “What?”

“You must be pretty familiar with me to take off my clothes.”

“I am…your husband.”

“My husband? I think I would remember having a sexy elf as my husband.”

“Obviously the excessive heat has tampered with your brain. I am Spock.”

“Spock, huh? Okay. Well it’s kind of cold in here now, Spock. Could I maybe get out of the tub?”

“At once,” said Spock.

Spock stood up and reached down and scooped him up out of the tub and into his arms effortlessly.

He licked his lips. “What’s my name?”

“You have forgotten your own name?” Spock looked vaguely skeptical.

“That’s the way it normally works.”

“Does it?”

“Uh-huh.”

“Jim. Your name is Jim.”

“Jim,” he tried out the name. “Yeah, that sounds right.”

That earned him a raised eyebrow as the one called Spock carried him from the bathroom and toward a bedroom down at the end of the hall.

The bed was already unmade, the covers having been pulled aside.

“It looks like you were prepared for me,” Jim said as he was laid down on the mattress. He supposed he ought to feel embarrassed being naked and wet in front of this elf guy.

“Yes, as I explained I am your husband.”

Jim smiled, unable to resist. “If you’re an elf, what does that make me? Santa?”

Spock stared at him. “That is illogical. And I am a Vulcan.”

“A Vulcan? What is that?”

Spock pursed his lips. “Jim, do we really have to continue this?”

“Not having any fun huh?”

“Role playing is not my forte,” Spock reminded him. “Can you not say you remember me now and the amnesia is finished?”

Jim chuckled as he pulled Spock into bed with him. “Okay, okay. But it was hot to have you carry me into the house from the cornfields.”

“I can do that anytime without the need for subterfuge.” Spock pressed his lips to Jim. “And now we can move on to the better part of your game.”

“Mm.” Jim stuck his tongue into Spock’s mouth. “How much time do we have before Bones arrives for his visit?”

“Four point five hours.”

“Oh great. We can do it two or three times by then.”

Spock nodded and pushed him deep into the mattress.

The doorbell downstairs rang.

“Seriously? He’s early!”

Spock got off Jim and began to toss Jim’s clothes at him. “I do wonder why you invited him.”

“He’s lonely after—”

“Yes,” Spock said softly. He helped Jim finish dressing as the doorbell rang again. “He is impatient.”

“That’s his middle name.”

“I thought it was Horatio.”

Jim sighed then laughed as he put his arms around Spock’s neck. “I love you.”

“As I love you. Let us go before he breaks down our door.”

Jim grabbed Spock’s arm and went down to prepare for their guest.

Happy Halloween Fic 2017

On Halloween 2014 I pushed publish on the first chapter of Professor Spock.   It began and ended with the immortal words, And it started on Halloween. Enjoy!

“Hey.”

Spock did not look up from his PADD.

“You want to go to a party?”

“Not really, no.”

“Oh come on.”

“I am grading tests,” Spock replied, still not taking his eyes off his PADD. “Go with the doctor.”

“Are you kidding?” He heard the incredulity in Jim’s voice.

Spock felt him plop down heavily on the couch he sat on. “Of course I am not kidding.”

“But—”

“What is the occasion anyway? It seems an odd time of year for a party,” Spock said absently.

Halloween.”

“Ah.” He pushed a button on his PADD.

“Oh. My. God. Spock, don’t you remember? We met on Halloween.”

Finally Spock looked up from his PADD at his illogical mate. Jim wore what appeared to be a fox costume.

Jim smiled. “I’m pretty foxy, yeah?”

“Jim—”

“Baby, I know pretending to be someone else is not your thing. But it’s like our anniversary of when we met.” Jim gave him puppy dog eyes. “Please? I’ll blow you later.”

Spock arched a brow. “You will anyway.”

“Yeah, okay.” Jim grinned. “Please?”

Spock sighed and set his PADD down. “Very well.”

“You’re the best!” He threw his fur covered arms around Spock’s neck and kissed him, his foxy nose smashing into Spock’s cheek. Jim leaped up from the couch and pulled Spock with him.

“No costume,” Spock warned.

“I know, I know. Just wear one of your robes. It’ll be great. And no underwear.”

“Jim—”

“I’ll blow you at the party.”

“You most certainly will not.” He knew he was blushing. Even his ears felt warm.

Jim winked. “You’ll like it. We both know it. Now come on, let’s get your robe.”

Spock allowed himself to be led toward their bedroom.

“You know what?” Jim asked. His eyes were twinkling wickedly. “Let’s start with that blow job.”

“Jim—”

Ramblings of the Week, October 30, 2017

All right this weeks’s updates are bound to be My Devotion, Anything and Where My Demons Hide. Those are the last ones left updated in September. Then up after that will be Didn’t We Almost Have it All and Turning Page. Those might be pushed out to the next week. We shall see.

I took the weekend off from posting because…well I wanted to. I didn’t really do much of  anything but watch stupid shit and do laundry and a little cleaning. Playing some games. Pretty much lazy stuff.

For the last 10 years we’ve lived in this town home we don’t really get trick or treaters on Halloween. We always buy candy and no one comes. I think it will be the same this year! Ah well. It’s just not the same as when I was a kid.

At work, we are having a pizza party that day as well as trick or treating. Should be fun.

Flash Fic Friday October 27, 2017

This week’s prompt: Thinking he is hallucinating Spock, Jim confesses his feelings.

Jim was dying.

No, he really was.

He’d gotten separated from the landing party on the planet M-23. Hours had passed and no matter how much he tried to contact Spock and the others or the Enterprise, he was unsuccessful.

To make matters worse he had been confronted by a huge creature who’d managed to sting him and poison him just before Jim killed it.

Which, of course, was why he was dying.

The poison was working through his system. He’d had water so he’d done his best to stay hydrated but he knew his time was limited. He was weakening.

Jim staggered to his knees and then lay on the ground near the shelter he’d managed to build for himself before all his strength was gone. Night was coming on the planet and according to their information, the temperature could drop by a number of degrees. He pulled a blanket around him and shivered.

How long did he have? Enough time for them to find him? Probably not.

Jim flipped open his communicator. “Kirk to Enterprise. Come in, Enterprise.”

Nothing.

“Captain’s log. Stardate…stardate…oh hell. I don’t know.”

“Hello Jim.”

Jim startled up into a half sitting position as he stared at the man who suddenly appeared before him. He’d never seen the man. Not in person. And yet—

“Dad?”

“That’s right, champ. Surprised to see me?”

“Well, yeah. You’re dead.”

Fake Dad chuckled. Because yeah, he was rational enough to know he wasn’t rational.

“This is a fine mess you’ve gotten yourself into, son.”

“Yeah.”

“Doubt you’ll pull a rabbit out of your hat this time.”

Jim frowned. “What’s that mean, Dad?”

“You’re all out of magic, Jim.”

While Jim was staring at his Dad he morphed into Pike. And Jim felt his heart clench.

“Hey.”

“You’ll get through this, Jim,” Fake Pike said. “I believe in you.”

Jim’s eyes welled with tears. “I’m not going to make it this time.”

“Your blind luck ran out, huh, kid?”

Jim closed his eyes and when he opened them again he saw Spock kneeling beside him. Well, Fake Spock obviously.

“Hey.”

“Captain.”

“Listen, since I’m dying and you’re in my head anyway, I have to tell you something.”

“Captain, this is not the time.”

“It is the time, Fake Spock,” Jim insisted as Fake Spock began pulling at him. “Last time I was dying I tried to tell you the truth but you just insisted on all that friend shit.”

“Jim—”

“I’m in love with you, Fake Spock. I have been for a long time. And I know you don’t feel the same way. I know you’re with Uhura. But what the hell have I got to lose now? You aren’t even real.”

Fake Spock flipped open his communicator. “Spock to Enterprise. I have found the captain.”

“And God, you’re just so sexy. I want to kiss you for hours. And I want you to shove me onto the bed and just—”

“Captain,” Fake Spock said sharply. Then he said into his communicator. “Energize.”

Jim reappeared in Fake Spock’s arms in the transporter room. “Wow, this looks so real.”

Suddenly the Vulcan disappeared and was replaced by a very pale looking human. “Hey! It’s Fake Bones now.”

“I got you, Jim. You’re going to be okay. You’re going to be fine.”

“I don’t feel so good.”

“Come on. Stay with us, Jim. Stay with us. Jim!”

****

Jim woke to the sound of beeping equipment.

The medbay.

And he was in a biobed, hooked up.

Again.

He felt weak. Wiped out. But alive.

The more he became aware, the more he realized.

Oh fuck. Fake Spock was Real Spock. Jim, you are so damn stupid.

“Jim, you’re awake,” Bones said, appearing by his side. He brushed Jim’s sweaty hair from his forehead. “How do you feel?”

“A little…weird. Feel like I don’t have much strength.”

“You’ll probably feel that way for a few days. That poison really did a number on you. Any longer and we would have lost you. We almost did.”

Jim nodded, licking his lips. “Dry.”

Bones popped some ice into Jim’s mouth.

“How’d you find me?”

“The hobgoblin. He went a little nuts trying to locate you. And it’s a damn good thing he did. You’re going to be here three days at least. You hungry?”

“I could use a steak,” Jim joked.

“Fat chance. I’ll bring you some beef broth.”

Bones walked away and Jim blew out a breath.

How the fuck was he going to make this right with Spock? He hadn’t ever intended to make Spock uncomfortable with his stupid one-sided declarations. He wasn’t real! Damn it.

The hair on the back of his neck stood up and Jim knew that Spock was there. Somehow he always knew when Spock was near.

“Captain,” Spock said softly.

“Hi, Commander.” Yeah, keep it cool, Jim. Use his rank right back at him.

“You look remarkably better than the last time I saw you.”

Jim smiled in spite of himself. “Yeah, I bet. Thanks to you. Again.”

“What else could I do? I had to ensure that you would keep your promise to me.”

Jim blinked. Searched his memories. “Promise?”

Spock’s eyes darkened. “That I would be able to shove you onto the bed and just—”

“Uh.” Jim felt himself blush.

“You must recover before I am able to do so.”

“Spock I—”

Spock put two fingers on Jim’s flushed face. “You must rest, ashayam.”

“Wait.” He licked his lips. “Doesn’t that mean—?”

“Yes.”

“Spock,” Jim whispered, reverently.

Spock leaned down, his eyes closed, and kissed Jim’s mouth.

Jim’s eyes were shining as his lips curved into a smile. “Are you sure you aren’t Fake Spock?”

Spock’s eyebrow arched. “I am sure, my illogical captain.”

“I’ll keep the real one then.” His eyes were drifting closed.

“Doctor, I think the broth will have to wait.”

“Sleeping beauty,” Bones murmured. “You staying? Scotty on the bridge?”

“Yes. And I am staying. There is nowhere else for me.”

“Lovebirds.”

“What, doctor?”

“That’s good. That’s good, Spock. I’ll just be over there.”

Jim smiled, eyes still closed. “Love you.”

Spock’s fingers ghosted over Jim’s brow. “Sleep, Captain. I love you too.”

This is my house…NOT. LOL

I love the colors of the fall and the house looks incredible but as someone afraid of heights and living in Earthquakeville, just no. Pretty though

carnival-magic-1

Last night I paid the balance due on our cruise that we are taking at the end of January. We still need to get airfare to Florida but the actual cruise is paid. That there picture is our actual ship.

Beginning Monday our temperatures return to the fall temperatures I prefer. Low 70s and high 60s. Yipee!

I hope my asthma goes back to reasonable too. It’s been kicking my ass for the last week or so.

This week I concluded Sheer Determination. I was happy with it. Naturally there was this one woman who has to make negative comments on almost everything I write and has been doing so since I think I started posting on AO3. As she always is, she was deleted.

I also updated What Happened to Spock.

I have a flash fic up tomorrow. And today I start working on the fairytale.

I think I will have another quietish weekend. That is what I am hoping for anyway.

Sheer Determination

Sometimes he didn’t mind being alone. It wasn’t an unusual occurrence. Most of his childhood had been spent that way. At least until he got sent away. But before that, before Sam had left, Jim spent most days finding ways to entertain himself. Most of his classmates thought he was too smart or too cocky or too cute or…too something.

He’s made friends on Tarsus, but that hadn’t gone well.

And when he’d gone to the academy, well, he’d met Bones. He’d met a few others. Gary Mitchell, for example, but Gary went batshit crazy and decided he was a god with psychic powers.

Bones stuck with him though and that was good.

He got the Enterprise and he loved his crew, he did. And he was pretty sure he’d gained their admiration and trust, if not their love. His officers were friendly with him and occasionally he spent time with them.

It was all good.

And then there was Spock.

They were friends. At least Spock had finally admitted it while Jim was dying. And during his recovery he had acted like they were friends and things were good.

But once they got on the Enterprise, well, things got strange again. Spock wasn’t openly derisive like he’d once been. But he grew distant and spent most of his off time with Uhura.

Bones was great, he really was, but Jim supposed Bones needed a break from him every once in a while.

And so when they’d gone to Yorktown, Jim had spent his time there, before being called in by Commodore Paris, alone.

Everything changed with Krall, of course. All Jim’s doubts that had crept in about his place in all this disappeared.

He belonged with the Enterprise. He was the captain. And if it meant being alone the rest of his damn life, he had the ship. His beautiful lady.

There were still times he got bored. Still times he wanted to do anything but spend his time alone in his quarters. This was one of those times.

Bones was busy. There’d been a minor explosion on deck five that had caused a few injuries and as grumpy as Bones could be, he was grumpier still when he had casualties to tend to.

So he found out via the computer that Spock was in lab 6, so, after some contemplation, he headed there.

He’d made it to the outside of the lab when he heard the low murmur of voices. Uhura and Spock.

Damn, he hadn’t intended to interrupt a date or whatever.

“Spock,” Uhura’s voice suddenly rose. “You need to tell him.”

“It is…difficult.”

“Of course it is. But he needs to know. You can’t go on like this. We can’t go on like this. So the only thing to do is tell him. He needs to know your decision.”

Fuck.

Spock was going to leave.

Bones had told him about Spock maybe going to New Vulcan before all the Krall stuff happened. He’d heard that Spock and Uhura had even ended their relationship over it, briefly, as they were back together, obviously.

Which probably meant they would both leave.

“I cannot. To lose him as a friend—”

“You won’t. He won’t react that way.”

Of course Jim wouldn’t. He would support Spock leaving if that was what he wanted. But he couldn’t hear anymore. It was too much.

He turned around and went back down the corridor and to the turbolift. He willed away the tears that sprang to his eyes.

He was the captain. And he would get through this just like he got through everything.

Sheer determination.

Flash Fic Friday, October 20, 2017

04My prompt was a diplomatic gift that makes Spock jealous and act on his feelings for Jim.

The captain was flirting. Ridiculously, obviously flirting.

Spock was pointedly trying to ignore it but not with a lot of success. Each over done laugh or too bright smile from Kirk was grating on his nerves.

“Captain,” the beautiful blonde female Lasronian gushed to Kirk, her talon-like fingers clutching onto his arm like she was afraid he was try to get away. Spock knew better. His captain was eating up the attention. “How is it you’re unmated?”

“Well—”

“You must be the most gorgeous Terran I have ever seen,” she said breathlessly.

“I’m sure that must be an exaggeration,” Kirk said quickly.

“Oh, I assure you it is not.”

Spock had certainly heard enough. “The gift you spoke of presenting to Captain Kirk?”

She glanced at Spock with a slight frown, he suspected it contained both irritation and the acknowledgement that she was not alone with Kirk in her boudoir.

“Yes. The presentation.” She bit her lip. “I had thought to present it to your captain in private.”

“Far be it from me to—”

“Unfortunately, that is against Starfleet regulations,” Spock interrupted.

“Mister Spock—”

“As first officer it is my duty to ensure the captain’s safety, you understand.”

“Oh, well, Commander, I am hardly a threat to your captain, surely.”

Spock gave a slight shrug. “Protocol.”

“Very well.” She walked across the room to a table where she lifted a box from.

Spock ignored the disgruntled looks his captain was giving him.

The Lasronian returned with the box and with her cheeks slightly flushed with purple, she handed it to Kirk, who flipped open the box.

It was an elaborate golden necklace with a half- moon shaped golden gemstone.

“This is a betrothal necklace for our people,” she told Kirk, with pride in her voice.

Kirk blinked. “A-a betrothal necklace?”

“Yes.” Her smile widened as she put her hands on his arm once more. “I choose you as my mate.”

“Wait. What?”

She lifted her chin. “Since you do not have a mate, you cannot refuse per Lasronian culture.”

Kirk had gone pale and he glanced at Spock.

Spock stepped forward. “There is a misunderstanding.”

“Oh?”

“Captain Kirk has a mate,” Spock explained carefully. “As he was about to advise you when you asked him about being unmated.”

She frowned. “He has?”

“A very jealous one.” Spock stepped carefully in front of his captain and stared down at her. “Vulcans are very possessive by nature.”

Her jaw went slack. “You are the captain’s mate?”

Spock quirked a brow. “The captain is my mate. Vulcans have telepathic bonds which cannot be broken easily. ”

She took the box out of Kirk’s hand and snapped the lid closed. To Spock’s satisfaction, she stepped back. “I see. Under the circumstances, I cannot let our sacred bonding necklace go with you, Captain.”

“I understand,” Kirk said. “It’s time that my first officer and I take our leave, Prime Minister. It has been an honor.”

“The honor is ours, Captain, Commander.”

Kirk said little as they made their way back to the Enterprise and when they made their way into the turbolift, the captain kept glancing Spock’s way.

Spock stopped its forward motion. “Yes, Captain?”

Kirk moistened his lips. “Thought Vulcans didn’t lie.”

“We do not.”

“Hm. Did you imply then?” He was smirking.

“To what do you refer?”

“All that talk about us being mates, Spock. And I completely appreciate it. I do. Having sex with her would have been one thing but I sure as hell didn’t want to marry her.” Kirk shook his head. “But you didn’t have to compromise your Vulcan principles or whatever.”

“I have not.”

“But—”

“I did not lie,” Spock said carefully. He put himself in Kirk’s personal space and backed the captain up against the turbolift wall. “You are my mate and I do not appreciate your flirting.”

Kirk frowned. “What are you talking about?”

Spock raised his hand to Kirk’s face. “You are my T’hy’la.”

The captain gasped. “Your…I’ve heard that word. The older you used it.”

With his other hand, Spock touched his finger to Kirk’s. Blue eyes widened and stared at Spock in wonderment.

“Let me show you.”

Spock entered Kirk’s mind, gently, slowly, allowing his captain to get used to another presence there. He spotted the glowing golden threads reaching out for Spock and Spock met them with a soft caress as they intertwined with cool, silver threads.

“Spock,” Kirk gasped. He was shaking and Spock was holding him. He dropped his hand from Kirk’s face and pressed a kiss to his lips.

“Do you see?”

Kirk smiled against Spock’s mouth. “You sure know how to make a declaration.”

“And?”

“And what?” Kirk asked, drawing Spock’s lips back to his.

“Do you—”

“Wanna fuck? Oh yeah.”

“Reciprocate,” Spock said somewhat stonily. Not that he was opposed to Kirk’s suggestion. He most certainly was not.

“You were in my mind. You know I do.”

Spock growled and crushed Kirk’s mouth under his. “She had her hands all over you.”

“She was a grabby thing, wasn’t she?”

“I smell her on you. I will wash you from head to toe.”

Kirk’s tongue came out to trace his lips. His breathing was uneven and Spock could feel the hard ridge in his pants. “If you insist.”

Spock closed his hand over the nape of Kirk’s neck. “I do. And then I will learn your taste.”

He stepped back abruptly, leaving Kirk sagging against the wall as he restarted the turbolift. When the doors opened onto the floor with the officers’ quarters they came face to face with Sulu and Scott who were about to enter the lift they exited.

Kirk was flushed red but he greeted them both before he and Spock hurried down the corridor.

Sulu shook his head as the door closed. “Told you they were gay.”
