A few things like the title says
- I am hard at work updating the next chapter of The Wrong Captain. After much hemming and hawing in my own mind I am going to take it in a bit of a different direction than I originally implied. But it’s all good, I promise,
- I’m playing around in my head with my next work in progress, though it’s not close to being written and/or appearing. Someone had requested my fairytale Spirk version of Beauty and the Beast and that will be what is coming. Not too many spoilers but Jim is the beast, Spock is Beauty, and Amanda will be Beauty’s Parent character like in the Disney story. Didn’t read the fairytale or see the Linda Hamilton TV version.
- A Kitchen Update. I have the world’s, um, slowest drywall guy (read lazy). He’s returned to our place two days this week and has gotten more done as he seemed to work more full days then he had been, but today he didn’t come at all, instead going to someone else’s house who also wants their house fixed. I swear the company the insurance company made us choose only has one drywall guy. Anyway, hopefully next week the walls will be finished and painted. What’s after that? Um, either the cabinets or the floors. They aren’t at all communicative.
- Because I want to make everyone happy my three listed time periods for the guys will all appear. There are what… four weeks in March? The first week will be Academy, starting March 4, the next week will be regular service, starting March 11, and After Mission will be starting March 18th. The final week of March will be whatever!
- I will try to get two final love month flashes done for Monday and Wednesday of next week.

I swear I’m gonna steal your drywall story as a plot bunny some day. Maybe combine it with my sink story!
Woo hoo for March (which is the best month anyway!). That’s gonna be a fun read.
I’m excited about a B and tB retelling! Oh that’s gonna be good. You do the fairytales well when inspiration strikes. Heh.
And looking forward to the twist in the wrong captain. Yay!

I’m still so sorry for the kitchen mess.
You’ll hate me for telling tiy – my parents in their 50’s – JUST MY MOTHER AND FATHER – built an entire 20’X50′ dining room/den onto their house – JUST THE TWO OF THEM, including foundation, framing, insulation, electrical wiring, gas pipes (the gas company put in the meter – but they lived in the country so they could do was they pleased if they knew how to back then), drywall (including ceilings!), windows, wood paneling partway up, texturing the rest, painting the ceiling, etc., in a little over TWO MONTHS. And daddy was still working.
I believe they did hire my two uncles to lay the brick exterior walls, because together, those guys built several complete LARGE homes for their families, where they’d live like 5-8 years and then sell them for an outrageous profit, and then help each other build another, lather/rinse/repeat until they were just too old to do so any more.
(That’s what comes from living through the Depression and learning to do EVERYTHING yourself! And of course, Texas is a “right-to-work” state so no union membership or oversight required back then.)
I’ve heard the stories of my parents drywalling the ceiling. Good grief. That was the part that almost got them.
Anyway, I just wanted you to know -even just a few decades ago, things weren’t like they are now and your work would have been completed weeks ago, even in CA.

LOL I doubt is has to do with CA as I’ve heard stories about how long it takes after hurricanes and tornadoes in other states, but yeah I hear you.
Unfortunately I am unable to do any of it myself. I just don’t have the do it yourself skill set. Your parents were definitely amazing. I assure you my dad who was born in 1922 was no more capable of doing all that then I am! And he was from Massachusetts if that matters 🙂
I just think you had a very self-sufficient family and that is awesome

PS – I LOVED the Linda Hamilton version. But it was very different from the original story – she was an assistant DA. But I still love it, especially the theme music. So sweet and loving and h/c, etc. He saved her after she was attacked by bad guys, and he lived in an underground city of misfits as himself (kind of like Lex Luthor in the original Superman/Chris Reeve movie). My point being, even had you seen it, nothing from it would be usable as reference for your fic (most likely).

Oh I didn’t even know all that! Thank you. I think I have seen scenes where he was underground but didn’t know the context

I read this yesterday and had no chance to comment. I’m so sorry you’re still dealing with your kitchen. Does that guy just get paid by the hour so he’s trying to drag it out? …Or is it just that he has a total lack of motivation? Sounds like a little of each. Hoping it will soon be all behind you!
I’m looking forward to whatever you have in store to write and share with us. I’m excited!! Bring it on!!

Yeah he does get paid by the hour, I’m pretty sure part of it is he’s 65 and still doing hard labor and he’s unhappy about that, LOL. Who knows. I just know he didn’t show up again today, sigh. So our walls are still not fixed. It’s frustrating for sure. He claimed to us the other house he’s going to has been waiting 8 months to get work done. There’s a house around the corner from us that had a fire around Christmas. As far as I can tell they haven’t started doing anything with that yet either. The insurance process takes a long time to get going too. Oh well. I certainly hope it’s all done before this coming November HA HA gotta laugh
