thank you it’s especially sad for their kids, as their mother passed just 4 months ago 😦

From what little I’ve read from you, I know there is great heartache and sadness there. My heart is with you and your family. We can never know the walk of another, much less know how they feel. I’m a pretty empathetic person, but I was totally wrong in my expectations of how I would feel when each of my family members died. And I’m the only one left now of the 4 of us. My own feelings shock me every day.
So my only advice is to let yourself feel every single thought and emotion that comes to you and know they’re all completely normal.

This is of course the first of us of the children of our parents who has passed. My brother was 65, too young, but he beat up his body with his addiction and it’s incredibly sad. I choose to remember the older brother of my youth rather than what he had become and I just hope he is at peace now where his last few years he had no peace at all
And thank you, your advice is very good

I lost my brother last year, so I won’t say I know what you are going through but I can empathise with some of the emotions. Mine had been through a lot in life, changed as a person from the older brother I knew as a child and I struggled to reconcile that as a an adult. It made his passing hard as I spent a lot of time wondering if I could have reached out more, been more understanding – all those questions. Death and grief are complicated buggers and things take time. So lots of self care and hugs to you. And if you ever want to talk just let me know – sometimes a random not-so-quite stranger can be useful, other times not!

Thank you Elouesa, that pretty much describes my situation with my older brother too so yes it does seem like you are very familiar with it
