I am sorry to be delaying today’s flash fic to Wednesday, February 17th (and the final reader prompt will now be Friday, February 19th).
Life has been kicking me a bit lately. My SO has just been laid off after nine years. At this time during a pandemic when it’s hard to get a job. There’s a package but yeah, it sucks. My mother has fallen twice and her dementia is getting worse. Everything’s a bit delayed as my mind isn’t always on writing at this point. I am working on the flash but I just didn’t think I could get it done in time for Monday, so instead I am going to recommend some reads here for you to read from my past stories.

Being laid off any time is just – the most stress. But NOW?????? That’s just piling on.
I’m sorry about your mom too. I hope she isn’t in pain. I hope she still knows you!
Please don’t worry about writing. You’re so prolific when you’re in the mood, yeah, we’re spoiled. But we can handle your real life situations that need (well, DEMAND) your attention.
We’re here when you’re ready for us. If that’s Wednesday, great. If that’s not till Wednesday next week, great.
Our family member is still in the hospital too, but not in ICU. Still no visiting him. When he’s finally moved, it will be to hospice care. It’s been weeks now. And with the small roads packed deep with ice, nobody’s going anywhere any time near soon. Minus 7 tonight. I’ve lost almost all my water but I filled everything I have to get me through the next 2 days.
Come to Texas. We have jobs.

Nah, she doesn’t really know me at this point. I sat with her a few hours on Saturday while my sister had an appointment. She sleeps most of the time in her chair, but only sometimes seems to know who anybody is. She’s not in much pain anymore but she was for a time. The problem is nobody (her included) wants her to go to the hospital as there is no visiting her. She didn’t break anything (Boneva is a miracle drug as she’s been on it for years) so she just ended up really bruised. Dementia sucks as you know. I don’t think she will last much longer, honestly, but we’ll see.
Your weather situation is crazy right now. Supposed to be in the 70s here all week.

I’m so sorry you’re having such a stressful time! Sending love to you. Certainly your real life issues take precedence over the stories you write to share with us. You’re not on a mandatory production schedule. We certainly can wait until the time is right for you.
