Need to Catch Up

After being away for several days, I have a bit of catching up to do.

My plan this week is to get the next chapter of The Wrong Captain done and posted.

And at some point this week I will have more flashes up here.

A Leap Day Flash

A bit silly…

Spock reached down and pulled the soaking wet Starfleet Cadet from the icy water of the San Francisco bay.

“T-thanks.” The cadet shook his hair like a canine and water splattered everywhere. “S-sorry.”

“Were you trying to end your life?” Spock demanded.

“What? N-no. G-God I’m f-freezing.”

Spock grabbed the man’s hands. “Your hands are like ice. Come with me.”

“I d-don’t r-really w-want to g-go to the h-hospital.”

“I am not taking you there. Come.”

Fortunately, Spock’s apartment was not far and he herded the soggy man directly there.

After retrieving a plus robe, he handed it to the cadet and told him to change into it in the bathroom.

“Uh. C-Cadet K-Kirk.”

“I know who you are. Do as I say.”

Several moments later, Kirk came out, dressed in Spock’s robe and holding his wet uniform. Somehow in the roble and with his fair colored hair wet and plastered to his head, he looked very young and vulnerable.

“”There is a clothes dryer there, throw you uniform in there, and then come out. I have made you hot tea and heated some soup.”

Kirk came out biting his lip a moment later. “Why are you being so nice to me, Professor?”

Spock was not surprised Kirk knew him.

“You were in distress. Why were you in that water?”

“Well. It’s leap day.”

“So?”

Kirk shrugged and smiled sheepishly. “My friend Bones suggested I take a leap, you know of faith or whatever, given the day, so I did.”

“Into the bay.”

“Well, yeah.” Kirk laughed. “Not my finest moment, true, but something did come of it. So my leap of faith worked.”

Spock shook his head and handed him the mug of hot tea. “In the future if you wish for a date, simply ask. It will be safer and more successful for you.”

Kirk laughed. “Yeah, you’re right. I’m still freezing.”

“Let’s warm you up.”

February 19, 2024

Hi guys

I didn’t get a chance to get up a flash today as I went away for a quick weekend. I’m back now and hoping to have a flash up tomorrow. You might get them Tuesday and Thursday this week just because.

March is fast approaching so I’m going to ask anyone who wants to comment which of the following themes you’d like to see for that month:

Starfleet Academy

Older More Mature (as in after the missions are over)

During Regular Service on the Enterprise

More specific themes in any one of those choices will be Hurt/Comfort, Getting Together and Jealousy.

So I just want opinions on the time period for the guys you want to see for March

Appreciate it

Recommendations

Should you need a little Spirk reading material (Evening did mention recommendations) while I work on updating AO3 and my break here continues, I am going to list some of my own favorites of my work and a couple of other non-me

No guarantee for lack of angst.

Me When I was Young

The Orion Conference

You have to be signed in for this one, but this is one where she makes Winona a pretty good mother

Hurricane

Not really sure what it is about this one I like so much, but I do

Taking January 2024

This time I really mean it. Not going to do any flashes for January 2024

I need a break. If inspiration hits I’ll save them for next month, while I contemplate what writing Spirk means to me for this year.

If I get any information on my kitchen I will let you know. Otherwise my goal is to update stuff on AO3.

thank you!

Happy New Year 2024

And here we are with another year past and a new one just beginning

My Apologies

I’m behind on getting I Just Want You to Know Who I am finished. I’m hoping to get it done before NYE. I had to go into the office a full day this week and things are still crazy at home and I am also horribly unmotivated.

It will get done though!

General End of the Year Info

As you know I generally like to keep readers here informed.

I have made the decision to put all my ongoing stories (non Holiday/Christmas) on hiatus until January. I don’t like to do it but there is simply no way to avoid it this year.

I am doing I Just Want You to Know Who I Am and three holiday flashes a week here and that leaves little time for anything else because I gotta have a life too.

And boy is December jam packed. Amusement parks, family get togethers, dinners, getaways, doctor’s appointments, just everything.

Anyway, I will make them all a priority in January.

Thhh-tthat’s all folks

More Updates

I starting to believe in curses… read on for more

First of all, for anyone wondering, nope, no kitchen. I don’t remember if I showed you one of the pictures of the place, but here it is for your viewing pleasure. The whole kitchen and dining room looks like this.

So,

We don’t know anything yet, alas.

  1. the light in my bedroom ceiling burned out. It’s a high ceiling so you have to have a huge ladder to replace it. We have
  2. The handle on one of the toilets broke off entirely. Yes, we replaced that too
  3. Last night we come home from doing laundry at sister’s place and we go to put on the heat as it was chilly. Cool air is blowing. Yes from my brand new as of July HVAC system. I called this morning. They are coming tomorrow afternoon to check it out. I am not amused. I am miserable the least give me some heat for goodness sake.
  4. One of the living room lights was burned out. Sigh. Replaced.
  5. After work I went to watch TV upstairs, TV would not come on. I checked all plugs, all seemed fine. Still wouldn’t come on. I was getting frustrated. So finally I decided to check the batteries on the Roku remote. Replaced him. TV came on.

Anyway, I am beginning to feel like I could be in the movie the Money Pit

This too will pass I suppose
