Yes it’s only August, sort of mid-August at that but there’s only 3 more August flashes, so I am thinking ahead.

For September I think I’ll do Starfleet Academy flashes (and is anyone besides me excited for the Starfleet Academy show that’s supposed to be coming in 2026?).

But before you know it October, November and December will be here.

For October, I like to do spookyish flashes (or Halloween themedish) flashes, nothing horribly scary, I promise. Is there anything in particular you’d like to see for this month?

For November, I want to do family gathering stuff, Kirks, Spock’s family, whatever, something along those lines, so again if there is anything you want to see let me know

For December, do you want each Friday to be a standalone holiday flash or do you want each Friday to be a part of a continuing story for the month.

For all three months do you want angst, light angst, no angst

Please don’t say “I’m good with anything” LOL. While I appreciate that, it’s not that helpful in planning.

This week’s Christmas in July post will be Mirror Verse (I explain in the post) but on a lark I decided to see what WordPress’ AI generator would create for Mirror Verse. Um. Pretty odd. Especially Spock with blue eyes. But I couldn’t not share,

This has been a challenging month. I had a car accident (minor), I am fighting over a huge premium increase I don’t want to get into but it’s been stressful, and this past Monday I fell down the stairs at my townhome. I am recovering from that but I hurt myself pretty badly. Nothing broken but an extremely bad sprain and trouble getting around.

I haven’t written Friday’s flash but will soon. Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t involve a fall!

Anyway, expect for July some Christmas in July Friday flashes. There are 4 Fridays in July and I think those are still fairly popular.

It’s time for one of those updated plans emails and I assure you this is no April Fools prank

I’m hoping to finish off Welcome to the Enterprise by summer. I think I only have a few chapters to wrap it up. Likewise I think The Perfect Mate will make it to its conclusion by then too. I am hoping.

I still plan to write my Lady Hawk Spirk tale, a kinda sad one involving butterflies, and I’m thinking of getting back to supernatural Jim (I left it with the possibility of a sequel at the end).

I hope I can get to these this year. I simply don’t write as fast and as often as I did when I first started writing Spirk stories, but I try to do my best as long as people want to read them. I don’t want to see the fandom die out.

I’m trying (fingers crossed) to get a regular short story up on AO3 for Valentine’s Day (second chances theme) but I haven’t even started it yet so no guarantee!

Just some updates.

I hope to get My Tears Will Wash Me Away updated sometime this week.

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, there will be a flash up Friday.

And as you will note at the end of that flash, I am thinking of returning to my weekly Flash Fic Fridays. In the beginning I did those and then I started doing more and more and it just became too much for me. But I think I can do Flash Fic Fridays again.

I’m personally okay and in an area where, at least at the moment, the winds have calmed a bit (though not gone). The solution these days for the power companies in this state is to shut off power if there are fire threats. I am fortunate in that we have kept our power on. My sister who lives in my city has not been so fortunate. Her power has been off more than 24 hours. She’s been to my house a few times to charge her stuff, get away from her freezing dark house, etc. She is here now. Not sure when her power will be restored.

I am well familiar with a number of the businesses that have burned down off the PCH in Palisades/Malibu. It is heartbreaking. Many people have lost their homes. Historical sites that have existed for over a hundred years…gone. It is hard not to cry.

I am also familiar with the Altadena/Pasadena area where whole neighborhoods are gone. These are not homes on hills, just ordinary neighborhoods found in Any Town, USA. It’s why it’s so absolutely shocking and horrific. 5 people lost their lives trying to save their homes. I just have no words when I see the pictures.

And the fact that evil people try to take advantage and steal from those folks is unconscionable. There is a special place in Hell for them.

My niece lives near the Hurst fire but it seems the fire dept is keeping that one well-contained and away from homes. My nephew lives in Hollywood, but that one also seems to be okay now.

It’s been a traumatizing few days. I likely won’t be writing anything until next week and I know you understand.

Nope I haven’t fallen off the face of the Earth. I’ve just been…uninspired. I’m sure that will change soon.

In the meantime I hope you are well. We are having another terrible wind event here. I hate wind. Big brush fire already. Not near me but terrible.
