Story Updates

Recent Updating

I finally got the update done and posted to Didn’t We Almost Have it All. I was very happy with the response I got to it, too. You never quite know if people are still reading your work, especially if you haven’t updated it in a while and though it had been updated in January, you just don’t know how many readers you’ve lost. But people are still following it and that makes me happy.

Friday will be the continuation of the 100 word thing I am doing. I am having fun with that. It’s certainly making the story take longer just because I have to keep it to 100 words at a time.

I decided to post All I Ever Wanted on AO3 and so with that I took it down from here. I was torn about it honestly because I knew it wouldn’t be that popular on there (older characters, yet another wip from me, etc) but I wanted more to read it then the three or four that were reading it here.

I’m working on finishing Turning Page now and hope to have it updated today or tomorrow. Once that is up I will be turning to the next chapter of You are the Light That’s Leading Me, but I think it will probably not go up until next week. I think I am giving myself permission to take the weekends off from writing/posting for a bit.

Update Madness March 01

Okay so this week I updated the blog story, the 100 words (coming tomorrow), My Devotion (twice), Anything and Where My Demons hide.

Whew.

I am exhausted. And probably done for the weekend. We shall see.

Next up is Didn’t We Almost Have it All which deals with the sudden arrival of Spock in Jim’s yard and it’s going to be difficult for both Jim and me, so probably not until sometime next week.

Enjoy the updates I have done in the meantime! Thanks!

100 Words – Continuation

Jim staggered into his quarters, unshed and unwelcome tears stinging his eyes.

What had he expected? An undying declaration of love from his coldly reserved Vulcan first officer. Spock had been with Uhura for years and they’d never made a complete commitment. Or at least Spock had not. Jim figured Uhura wanted to and that’s why it had ended.

Maybe Spock just didn’t want anyone. Perhaps he had no romantic interest in any human. Jim could certainly tell himself that to make him feel better.

And yet he felt not better at all.

His door chimed. Jim turned to it.

St. John USVI

And yes, I am going to that place you see above, that is Trunk Bay, St. John US Virgin Islands

Okay I have pre-scheduled 100 words or less flashes for this Friday, the 26th, and next Friday, February 02.

I can hardly believe it is almost time for my cruise. We take the “flyaway” to the airport Friday night. I don’t know if other areas have this but it’s an airport bus service so that you don’t have to drive yourself all the way to LAX. Or beg someone else to do it for you. LAX is a major pain to drive to because it’s on one of the world’s busiest freeways. Anyway, it’s much easier to convince a friend or family member to take you to the Flyaway. Our flight leaves at 11:50 PM Friday night and we land at 7:30 AM or so in Orlando. At about 10 we take a shuttle we paid for through Carnival to the port where our ship leaves. We can get on about Noon and the ship departs at 4:00 PM Saturday afternoon.

I will be back somewhere around 8:30 to LAX on Saturday February 03. Then we collect our luggage and catch a Flyaway bus back where someone picks us up from there. Probably be in my house ready for bed by 11ish. I hope. LOL. Then I will have all day Sunday the 4th to recuperate and do laundry.

When I made the plans for this trip it seemed so far away so that it is actually here is pretty strange to me. There are nine of us going so it should be fun.

This week I’d like to finish Who’s the Daddy, get a new chapter done on Bitter Frost, and a new one on You’re in My Veins. I am pretty sure I can do it.

No movie this week. Last week we saw Jumanji. It was amusing. We’ve seen everything we were going to see I think anyway. I think in February we will see the Pacific Rim movie. And of course in March is Wrinkle in Time.

Ramblings will be back February 05, 2018

Ramblings of the Week, January 08, 2018

On the 7th, I updated A Surprise with a second chapter.  I always wanted more to this one-shot but didn’t have time to accomplish that at the time. I have now.

I will updated My Devotion.

This coming weekend is a three day weekend for me. We get MLK off. On Sunday is my niece’s baby shower at a restaurant called The Old Spaghetti Factory. Otherwise nothing else is set in stone for the weekend.

This week on Tuesday I will finally be seeing Star Wars. I saw Ferdinand last week and it was cute but not amazing like Coco was. I’m rather unfairly ambivalent about seeing Star Wars, but others in our movie going group want to see it so we will. Just the endless hype of it just gets to me and it’s certainly gotten worse with Disney in charge.

I made a bunch of arrangements for my cruise coming up in now less than three weeks! I am having a hot stone massage (I booked this back on Black Friday) but now also beginning Acupuncture (just to try it) as my second massage. I also booked an excursion to St. John’s of the US Virgin Islands, a walking tour of the top 10 things to see in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a taste of Grand Turk tour.

I also have onboard gifts sent to my fellow travelers (and me of course). Yeah, I am rather a nut case. But it will be fun. We will have fun and everyone is excited.

I am feeling so much better. My cough is gone. Yay. I am still on some medicine but in about a week and a half I should be done with everything.

I may skip a flash this week to concentrate on some neglected stories. We shall see.

And that’s my rambles for now.

lick

I finally got Didn’t We Almost Have it All updated this week. I have this visual in my head, though it hasn’t made it into the fiction, of Jim saying to Bones. “We almost had it all, didn’t we, Bones?” Of course there was a Whitney song that the title came from, but I still see that scene in my head between Jim and Bones.

I would place that scene in the hospital after Jim wakes up after the shuttle accident and Bones, recovering himself, comes to see him. By this time, Jim knows that Spock and Uhura’s wedding is going to be soon. Chekov is dead. As are the pilot and the security guard obviously.

I think in my mind that Jim is particularly haunted by the guard’s death. Because he thinks here is a person who had hopes and dreams and people that cared about him, who he mattered to, and yet Jim didn’t even consider him when choosing who to save. I think that’s powerful stuff.

Anyway, during this conversation that apparently took place off the pages of my story, during a time when their conversation has lagged, for the first time in years, Bones and Jim aren’t even sure what to say to each other, and Jim finally says, “We almost had it all, didn’t we, Bones?”

Next up for updating is supposed to be Turning Page, my story of Spock and Jim’s shore leave. I got the idea from a song, of course, called Turning Page. I’m not actually working on it though because I am working on my continuing story for the blog that will end up on AO3. My sorta old married Spirk, but not so old. I think on AO3 it might continue into December and be part of my 2017 holiday stories, the other of which is the one I already previewed on here. That’s it for this year. Two.

I have started my second chapter of Will You Have Sex With Me so you can expect that at some point in the not too distant future.

Tonight we are off to see Only the Brave which is the true story of firefighters who die. So I can expect to be depressed.

I have no real plans for this coming weekend either, at least that I know of, at this point. Our weather is firmly in Fall territory now so I am quite pleased with that.

On the reading front I am currently riveted by IT by Stephen King. I loved the movie that was out earlier and am looking forward to the sequel. I’d love to see Chris in it but not sure if that will happen. I am not the only one either as I saw some article who mentioned what that writer’s ideal cast would be for the adults (they were children in the first) in the sequel and Chris was among them.

On the future vacation front, I have now paid off our cruise and also purchased our plane tickets for it at the end of January. Guess it is really going to happen. I still have to pay my property taxes and my car registration and afford Christmas too. Ugh! LOL

Ramblings of the Week, October 16th

I had a pretty quiet weekend, intentionally, I might add. I didn’t do much of anything. It was impossible to sleep in though because it was hot and windy and it wrecked havoc on my sinuses and asthma.

The only writing I did was to begin my Christmas Spirk story. As I explained I don’t want to get caught at the last minute with nothing to post.

I am not doing any of the “challenges” for the foreseeable future. No Old Married Spirk this year, No Big Bang (reverse or otherwise), and no K/S Advent (I never have done this, I just do my own thing for holiday themed stories). I don’t need any more pressure on myself than I’ve already given myself.

This  morning I completed October Romance which was a lot of fun to write.

It’s supposed to be hot here for about the next week and a half. Meh. I am ready for cooler weather but unfortunately it isn’t ready for me.

I haven’t really decided what else to work on writing wise this week. Up next should be Who’s the Daddy but to be perfectly honest I am not particularly enamored of that story and I just wish it was over. This is what happens when I write stories to make others happy instead of myself. I know many people love Spirk baby stories and I totally support people loving that but I am just not one of them. I’ll try to stick it out though and get it done completely eventually. I’d like to have it done and out of my hair before the end of the year.

I did make some progress on The Winter Story.  I am going to desperately love these two together, I think.

I am itching to get back to What Happened to Spock and my little Vulcan with Jim story. Isn’t that odd since I am not a fan of “family” stories. HA HA.

There are a few stories I’d like to say goodbye to before 2018, so we shall see how I do with those.

This weekend (and oh my yes, I am already thinking of the coming weekend), is another one where I intend to chill out and do pretty much nothing. As long as I can do that, I will, because once the real holiday season comes up I am going to be slammed with commitments and it will make me just a little bit crazy stressed. Another reason to get the Christmas story very much written. I intend it to be mostly fluffy though, so it should be fun.

I need to get back to all the angst stories too like Didn’t We Almost Have it All. I know certain friends are definitely looking for that.

Today I am leaving you with a Pintoish picture. Even though Quinto seems to be getting very very close to his BF indeed. Bleh, LOL

Ramblings of the Week, September 04th

As most of you know, our AC was out and in the middle of the biggest heat wave we’ve had in a long ass time.

So we got an appointment for someone to come in and fix it and M took the day off, Thursday, to have it fixed.

FYI, Wednesday night was the most miserable night ever.

Anyway, so they were supposed to come at 10:30 on Thursday but apparently two teenaged boys arrived, according to reports! LOL.

They had no idea what they were doing I guess and ended up leaving without doing squat. The access onto the roof is in a neighbor’s yard and their ladder wouldn’t reach otherwise.

We then spent like an hour and a half driving all over looking for a portable AC but with the heatwave everyone was sold out!

So Thursday evening the neighbor contacted us and said of course they can go in. So we made ANOTHER appointment for Friday. From 2 to 5 and since I was getting off early for the holiday weekend we took the appointment.

I went on Amazon and ordered a portable for our bedroom anyway.  Paid for it to be delivered Saturday because I was taking NO CHANCES.

Dude didn’t show up Friday until almost 6 but he was an adult and knew what he was doing! Yay. Fixed it (needed a starter) and we had the best night sleep we’d had all week. Plus I now have a back up if anything goes wrong

This week is a short work week. On Saturday night we head to the Hollywood Bowl for The Muppets Take the Bowl and Firework Finale. Should be fun. We love the Bowl.

I hope to get a few things updated this week but I won’t say what so that no one blames me if their favorite didn’t make it!

Enjoy!

CIHarbor

Channel Islands Harbor above

This past weekend, on Sunday, we had a barbecue at the family’s house. Hard to believe August is about half over already. While I won’t be sorry to see the heat go (and yes it will still be hot here in September), I will miss the daylight as it begins to get darker earlier.

This coming weekend on the 19th, I am going to the Chowder Fest in Oxnard (Channel Islands) with friends. The cost is $25 an includes different chowders, wine and beer.

In case you missed it, this week I updated Broken, My Devotion, and Anything. I ended up posting Broken on AO3, but changed the name.

Anyway, be that as it may, my plans for the week are to get a new chapter of Didn’t We Almost Have it All and Where My Demons Hide up this week.  Possibly the conclusion of Broken, too, which is now called First Impressions. That’s it, though.

For anyone who has a tumblr, I now have one. I don’t do a huge amount with it because I am a bit lost, but it’s there. Ivan’s tumblr
