In Case You Are Wondering

I am enjoying my break from flashes!

I am working on the next chapter for Welcome to the Enterprise but I don’t want to rush it or force it so I likely won’t have it up until the earlish part of next week. Then the only other WIP I need to update for January is You Say, which will come after WTE.

Update on Kitchen Situation: Got an estimate way way less than the first one (using very cheap material of course) and it is likely that is the one the insurance will approve and pay for, but the HOA insurance is coming to do their assessment today to see if there is anything they will pay for. So hopefully we will get to the point they actually START putting our kitchen in. It’s now more than 2 months. We are beyond tired of it, obviously.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

I hope you have a blessed day for those who celebrate

And…

Heat fixed…was a blown fuse in the unit on the roof, yeah weird, was free as it should have been, and since it was in the 40s this morning (California cold LOL), the three of us were grateful (Me, M and Luna)

Kitchen Reno dude came by today to look things over (no estimate yet) but he did state they’d not get it done until after the holidays, which is good really, as I wouldn’t want my holidays ruined anymore than they already are. There was some talk of moving us out for a week so they could redo the whole floor downstairs to match what they have to do in kitchen and dining room but there is a MAJOR disagreement between us on that, and you can bet your ass which one of us does NOT want to vacate the house for a week just so the living room matches the kitchen and dining room

And that’s all the news for now.

House Update (And Vegas)

As requested…

Didn’t win a damn thing, in fact lost the $1,000 my sister gave me to play with. Which that’s what it was for but yeah.

The wedding was great. I am so glad I was there for that. I cried. They cried. My one issue was that though they put up a picture of my nephew’s mother who passed away and his new husband’s stepfather who passed away, they didn’t include one of my brother. I mean I know there was a problematic relationship in the last few years but I still felt the slight like a little bit of a sting.

Otherwise it was glorious.

M had to stay home to deal with the mess. And no the leak is NOT fixed. The restoration people took away everything Thursday including our dining room. Put up these huge enormous fan things that are louder than loud to apparently keep us from dying from mold exposure, who knows. They were going to test for asbestos before they did the next thing, which is literally destroying the wall and cabinets in our kitchen. We are still waiting for THAT and then allegedly the plumber comes in to fix and then someone ELSE has to fix the kitchen and then WE get to put our house back together. It’s been a NIGHTMARE.

Needless to say there will be no Thanksgiving here. This year has been…challenging.

The Hits Keep Coming

And I guess you have to roll with the punches

2023 has been…challenging

My brother and sister-in-law both passed away. And many other crap things

Now…

My kitchen is about to be destroyed. They think there is a leak in the wall. So they are going to demolition all the cabinets and wall. Close off my kitchen for however long it takes. Then once the leak is fixed we have to figure out how to get all put back. I am beside myself and ready to commit myself to a mental health facility. If you think I am kidding, I am not sure I am.

Not able to host Thanksgiving this year, obviously. So that’s off the table, literally. Will have to be my sister’s. This is the only holiday we host so it’s devastating in that respect. Why it couldn’t have been a simple water line from the fridge God only knows.

I’ll do my best to keep up with everything but this has been a major stressful downer for me. Not going to lie.

I did get tomorrow’s done. Friday’s is still possible. I don’t know.

I am listening to Johnny Mathis sing What Child is This because I need the comfort of Christmas songs.

Talk soon.

Today’s My Brother’s Service

It’s just a short service by the little place in the ground where they put the urn. But we will all be there. I’m not a public speaker but I agreed to say something at the service. I’ll be reading it from my phone

After we head over to my sister’s for sandwiches and cheesecake. I don’t know why everyone eats after a service but they seem to.

That’s my day.

Housekeeping

Just a few things

Tomorrow is the last day for the August Flash story

September is Academy Month

Also beginning in September, I will be going into the physical office for my work once a week (we will see if they increase this amount in 2024), so not quite sure how or if that will affect my productivity. We shall see.

It’s Labor Day Weekend coming up. And of course I have the Monday off. My sister is hosting a big party on Saturday with all the nieces and nephews and grand nieces. So that’s what I will be doing. Can hardly believe it is nearly September already! You know what that means! Pumpkins and other Winter Squash.

The Usual

As you have probably heard we are under a “tropical storm watch” here. I’m pretty sure it’s much ado about nothing. There is about an 80% chance of rain tomorrow though which for August here is unheard of. We shall see.

There’s a flash coming Monday to continue our Post Beyond story. I’m just going to keep going through August for it so expect a few more parts until the end of August and then it will go up on A03.

I also finished Cosmic Love and hope to get the final part up shortly.

I’m off on another adventure to Temecula tomorrow for the next three days so I won’t be around much. I have to go to the stupid airport tonight too for picking up someone arriving at nearly midnight. Just ugh

Anyway that’s the news!

Well….

After a two day ordeal (the guys showed up at 8:30AM Friday and didn’t leave until 5:30 but they couldn’t get it to run) I have AC!!!

They sent over a technician today and after another hour a half of him redoing a bunch of things they did yesterday, it’s up and running.

I am getting much cooler and happier as we speak.

Here’s a pretty neighborhood picture
