Leonard knocked on the door of the apartment of someone he frankly didn’t care to see, but, well, here he was. If they put up the picture of the best best friend in the world on some kind of list, he was certain he’d be A Number One.
The door was opened and there stood his nemesis.
Okay, not really. But—
“Doctor.”
“Asshole.” Leonard sighed. “Okay, okay. Sorry. Spock. Look, I don’t want to be here anymore than you want me to be here, but…for Jim’s sake I am. He’s really really upset over your fight and I think…whatever it was about…you should seek him out and make things right.”
Spock straightened. “You assume it was my doing?”
“Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t. I know Jim can be challenging. But the truth of the matter is, who cares who was at fault or who said what or did what? Does any of that matter if you end up losing Jim? Because I have to tell you, Spock, you are in danger of that. Jim doesn’t trust or love easily. And once you lost that, it’s probably gone forever. So be the bigger one here, Spock. Go to Jim and fix this. You won’t be sorry if you do that, but you may be otherwise.”
Leonard left then, hoping that what he’d said to Spock would be good enough. He had a class to go to then.
Much later he returned to a dark dorm.
He called out, “Jim?”
Because ever since his fight with Spock, Jim had been moping around the place.
“Lights.”
Leonard spotted on the table a six-pack of beer, a pizza, and a plate with a donut. There was a note too.
With Spock. Thanks. We both owe you. ❤
Leonard smiled and reached for the pizza. Then went for the donut first.

Best friend indeed! I love this! Bones didn’t want to, but he knew it was the right thing for his best friend. His little brother. And he did it anyway. And it worked!
Lovely fic!

Definitely best friend. He didn’t want to do it, doesn’t even like the guy, but he does it anyway because the one thing important to him is Jim and his happiness. You can’t ask for better friends!
I would’ve gone for the donut as well :).

One of the best Bones lines EVER…I mean EVER: “if an Earth girl says, uh, ‘it’s me, not you,’ it’s definitely you.”
Same for guys, I guess! I love that the very real possibility of losing Jim makes Spock willing to be the bigger man and do what it took to fix it.
Even if it WAS Leonard’s prompting.
It must have been some make-up session if it warranted beer AND pizza AND a donut. All’s well that ends well with a fancy donut.

Agreed on that line and also probably true! And in Spock’s case it’s probably always “definitely you” no matter who he is with.
Yeah Spock needed a nudge and Jim wasn’t going to do it so Leonard had to!

Seriously, I never thought about it this way. But in Amok Time, isn’t that the real translation for what T’Pring said? It’s not me, it’s YOU? hahaha

I love best friend, interfering to help Jim, Bones! He certainly didn’t want to go begging Spock to make up with Jim… but for Jim’s sake he’d do anything! Love him! Bones presented a convincing argument and Spock knew when to heed his advice.
I enjoyed this story. You got Bones‘ voice perfectly! The reward to Bones is definitely well-deserved. Those donuts look yummy. Now I want one! ❤

I have an ao3 question. I keep getting email notifications of updates to stories written by multiple authors, that I am not subscribed to.
One particular one is in a fandom I never heard of written in Japanese and English, written by four people, including one that is orphan account. I’m not subscribed to any of them or their story. None of them even have a Star Trek story on their account. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I just resorted to marking it as spam. Just super duper annoying!!! Any idea how this happens, or what I can do about it?

No clue. I haven’t had that happen to me and this is the first time I have heard it happening to anyone else. As far as I know, there is no way for them to subscribe you to their fics. Weird. You could always try sending those in charge there a message and asking.

Thanks for your response.
This just irks me!! I was wondering if the author (named orphan account) amongst the group of authors on the story Somehow led to it notifying me?! When I click on orphan account on the tags, it leads me to a page that says Can’t be found. Not sure how orphan account can be a writer of a WIP. Maybe they used to be someone I subscribed to. Idk!
Also I just wish there was a way to filter out all the non-Spirk stories even on those I’ve subscribed to. 🤷🏻♀️
😘

I wish that too
As a writer on there it does NOT give me the option to subscribe anyone to my stuff, so I can honestly say I have no clue how it would happen.

I love this a lot! That’s also a very solid advice from Bones too. Sometimes you just need to put your ego aside and make the first move
