Well, in all fairness, stimulus money is being given to us for the express purpose of paying bills we couldn’t pay otherwise. I mean, I’ll get one and shouldn’t. People who haven’t lost their jobs, haven’t lost their insurance, etc…..I don’t even think I should get one anyway.
That being said, I’m NOT sending it back, though there is a form to submit and do that. It will not even be equal to what I paid in extra when I filed in February.
The real point is, if we don’t get back to work, there won’t be a country left – and no jobs because everyone will have gone bankrupt and starved to death.
That’s just the whole hard truth. Our government no longer backs their currency with gold or…anything. They’re just printing money. They’re giving it to banks – loans.
And when we’re through this, the government will now own at least 75% of everything, including our mortgages. It’s all so much more complex than that, but….
If there’s no country left, no jobs, what are we doing all this for in the first place.
This is a time-sensitive mess.
I don’t think we think of our government, our treasury, our system as being this fragile.
But obviously, all it took was shutting down such a huge percentage of our businesses and it’s not recoverable. Not enough loans for small businesses. Our strip shopping areas are ghost towns. It’s all unfixable.
So we’re vulnerable in ways we just never really thought possible.
When the government just prints money willy nilly, then milk is $10 a gallon. Except there isn’t any because farmers and ranchers can’t get loans to do what they do and they go under.
There are literally hundreds of thousands of people in cars lined up for food now – every day. It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen.
Because when we run out of food to help people – that’s when there no longer is a law, and hungry people take to the streets to take food from those who have it…and leave those people in….who knows what condition.. Or if those people have arms, hungry people die breaking in.

There’s no recovering anything like that. It’s Mad Max-ish. (which I never watched so if that isn’t a good example, insert any apocalypse movie you HAVE seen that fits.)

We had the lowest unemployment and the best economy almost in the history of a nation just weeks ago. The only reason we’re here is the disease AND the closing of businesses.

Opening the businesses is the only way the US will survive at all. AT ALL. Yes, more people will get sick. That’s going to happen. And people are still getting sick from flu and every other illness we were getting sick from 4 months ago.

We have to, as a country, get back to work. Or it’s over. I mean – everything is over. I have studied and read and listened to so many opinions – and they all agree with this one thing, no matter who they are.

Whatever your flash is about, original idea or not, I’ll love to see it. Spirk is seeing me through this shitstorm that we are in.

I’m hoping that we pass the worst of this virus soon. I think I will have PTSD by the time it’s said and done. There’s been so many deaths! My nursing home has had a number of deaths, plus at least 5 that transferred out and died in the hospital. Two nights ago, I had to pronounce two of our residents dead within two hours. (Yes RNs can pronounce death when there’s no doctor in house.) I’m traumatized from it all. Last week my neighbor across the street lost her husband to the virus. They were both my age and their only child, a daughter, is a junior in college. The husband was a mechanic and probably didn’t heed the social distancing rules.
I’m not sure what the answers are, but we need to reopen businesses wisely. And we desperately need more PPE. We need masks, face shields, isolation gowns and jumpsuits now, so we don’t have to ration them so much! Open factories to produce these for the healthcare workers that need them now.
