Jim smiled. At least he was getting somewhere. Spock was interested in the leave of absence. Which was good, because the idea of Spock leaving permanently was something he didn’t want to think about. Sure, Spock could go there and ultimately decide to stay there after all.

“It’s no problem at all. I should have thought of it before. I’m sure you’d like to visit your father too. It’s been quite a while since you last saw him, right?” Jim was warming to the idea, and he thought Spock was too.

“Indeed.”
